Tony Schiavone Says Tony Khan is Not Purchasing Impact Wrestling

Jan 21, 2021 - by James Walsh

During the AEW Dynamite Post-Show, Tony Schiavone was asked if AEW President Tony Khan actually has plans to buy Impact Wrestling. The two companies have been friendly lately, with AEW stars Kenny Omega, Matt Hardy and Private Party (as well as Schiavone and Khan) appearing on AXS TV, while The Good Brothers showed up on Dynamite.

When asked about the possible purchase, Schiavone said no and joked that Khan would “use coupons” if he did.

He added: “He’ll possibly use those S&H Green Stamps that were so popular in the 60s. Actually, I think he’s going to invest in a 1957 Chevrolet Coupe, which will bring him more money.”

Why should any sane person buy Nuthouse Wrestling?

Speaking of “No sane person would do that”, that means Vince… No, that joke is too easy.

Buy the tape library at a price that Anthem can’t refuse, jack up the price and resell it to Vince so that he can own the tapes of AJ and others. Just my opinion.

  4. The Khans certainly have deep pockets, just shilled out millions to land Urban Meyer to the Jags.

When the next GRP Podcast episode?

A lot has changed since April 2019 (#159 being the most recent episode of GRP) such as AEW partnering up with the Dead Brand [Impact Wrestling], The Whip’s [WWE] WrestleMania PPV going 2 nights since 2020, 2020 being a dark year for wrestling and the world, Drew McIntyre’s rise on WWE. Sting showing up in AEW, Pat McAfee shocking everyone in 2020 in a good way with his performance.

  6. @Mumbai Kitchen I appreciate you asking about GRP. Covid has caused havoc on my daily schedule. I would love to do more, including interview again soon, or possibly explore other variations of the podcast.
