3/31/21 AEW Dynamite Recap

The opening credits roll. Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Christian Cage vs. Frankie Kazarian
They lock up and Kazarian backs Cage into the corner. Cage comes back and drops Kazarian with a side-headlock take down. Kazarian gets to his feet, but Cage takes him down and gets a quick one count. Cage applies a wrist-lock, but Kazarian counters and drops Cage with a snap-mare. Kazarian applies an arm-breaker, but Cage rolls over and applies a headlock. Kazarian gets free and sends Cage to the stage with an elbow shot. Kazarian goes to the stage, but Cage delivers a right hand. Cage charges at Kazarian, but Kazarian sends him back into the ring with a back-body drop. Kazarian delivers a few chops and backs Cage into the corner with a few right hands. Cage comes back with an elbow shot, but Kazarian shoves him to the floor. Cage gets back into the ring, but Kazarian applies a rear chin-lock. Cage fights back with body shots, but Kazarian clubs him in the back and delivers a knee lift. Kazarian slams Cage to the mat and goes for the cover, but Cage kicks out. Kazarian takes Cage down with a side suplex and goes for the cover, but Cage kicks out again.
Kazarian stands on Cage’s head, but Cage fights back with body shots. Kazarian drops Cage with one shot and sends him to the corner. Kazarian charges, but Cage counters with a right hand. Cage drops Kazarian with a swinging DDT and goes for the cover, but Kazarian kicks out. Cage drops Kazarian with a forearm shot, and then delivers a chop. Cage chokes Kazarian over the middle rope and slaps him across the face. Cage delivers a diving uppercut and goes for the cover, but Kazarian kicks out. Cage delivers shots in the corner, but Kazarian comes back with a jack-knife cover for two. Cage gets a roll-up for two, and then Kazarian applies a chicken wing submission. Cage gets free and drops Kazarian to the mat. Cage climbs the ropes, but Kazarian cuts him off and brings him to the mat. Kazarian locks in the cross-face chicken wing, but Cage makes it to the ropes. Kazarian stomps on Cage and gets in his face, but Cage roll s him up for two. Kazarian delivers a knee lift and drops Cage with a clothesline. Kazarian connects with the leg drop and goes for the cover, but Cage kicks out.
Kazarian takes Cage to the corner and goes for a superplex, but Cage delivers body shots to counter. Kazarian delivers a headbutt and drops him with the Flux Capacitor. Kazarian goes for the cover, but Cage kicks out. Kazarian goes for a leg drop in the ropes, but Cage dodges it. Cage climbs up and hits the frog splash. Cage goes for the cover, but Kazarian kicks out. Cage goes for the Killswitch, but Kazarian counters. Kazarian goes for the cross-face chicken wing, but Cage sends him away and drops him with the Killswitch for the pin fall.
Winner: Christian Cage

A vignette from Darby Allin and Sting airs. Allin says Matt Hardy is scared because his body is breaking down, and now has to buy people’s respect. He says Hardy will have to earn his respect, because Hardy’s money doesn’t mean shit to him.

Jade Cargill cuts a promo. She says she has it and it must be hard for Red Velvet to admit that she is not better. Cargill says no one can beat her, including Velvet.

Match #2 – Unsanctioned Exhibition Match (w/Arn Anderson as the Special Guest Referee): Cody Rhodes vs. QT Marshall
They shake hands before the match, and the ring is surrounded by members of the Nightmare Factory/Family. They lock up and back each other into the ropes. They break apart, but then Rhodes drops Marshall to the mat. Marshall comes back, but Rhodes drops him with a shoulder tackle. Rhodes takes Marshall down with a few arm drags. Marshall comes back and shoves Rhodes away, but Rhodes drops down and delivers an uppercut. Marshall comes back and works over Rhodes’ injured shoulder as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Rhodes drops Marshall to the mat. Rhodes goes for the Figure Four, but then lets Marshall get to his feet. Rhodes keeps control and goes for the Cross Rhodes, but lets Marshall go again. Marshall slaps Rhodes in the face, but Rhodes comes back and sends him to the floor. Rhodes holds the ropes as Marshall gets back into the ring, and then Marshall drops Anderson with a right hand. Marshall leaves the ring as Rhodes checks on Anderson and the rest of the Factory/Family get into the ring.
Match Result: No Contest
-After the match, Anthony Ogogo, Aaron Solow, and Nick Comoroto rush the ring and beat down the rest of the Nightmare Factory/Family. Marshall looks on from the stage as Comoroto power bombs Lee Johnson on the stage. Marshall goes after Anderson on the outside and slams his arm over the barricade. Comoroto sets the steel steps on the stage and grabs Dustin Rhodes, who is busted open. Marshall delivers a pile driver to Dustin on the steel steps. Solow and Comoroto grab Cody in the ring, and then Ogogo delivers a body shot to him. They take Cody to Marshall, and Marshall stands on Cody’s head on the steps and then goes to hit him with a chair. Red Velvet rushes out and gets in between Marshall and Cody.

Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page say they aren’t waiting anymore, and they are going to take whatever they want. They will take on The Sydal Brothers on Dark: Elevation next Monday.

Backstage, Red Velvet is being interviewed. She says she had to come out to help Cody Rhodes because he is her partner and her friend, but she is attacked by Jade Cargill, who leaves her lying.

Jon Moxley cuts a promo. He says he can’t get the snap of Eddie Kingston’s ankle and that pisses him off. He says he is tired of getting jumped from behind, and it pisses him off. He says he still owes The Young Bucks one, and that pisses him off. He says he still has burns, and that pisses him off. He says Cezar Bononi is getting dropped on his head and getting choked unconscious tonight.

Match #3 – Singles Match: Cezar Bononi (w/JD Drake and Ryan Nemeth) vs. Jon Moxley
They exchange quick shots and Moxley sends Bononi to the corner. Moxley drops him with a dragon-screw leg whip, and then locks in a single-leg crab hold. Bononi comes back and takes Moxley to the mat as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Bononi had a side headlock applied. He sends Moxley to the corner and delivers a clothesline. Moxley comes back with a right hand, but Bononi comes back with a knee lift. Moxley comes back with a few quick strikes and drops Bononi with a German suplex. Moxley clotheslines Bononi in the corner and takes him down with a superplex. Moxley goes for the arm-breaker, but Nemeth gets in the ring as Drake gets on the apron. Moxley drops Nemeth with the Paradigm Shift, but Bononi takes Moxley down. Bononi tries to slam Moxley, but Moxley counters with the Bulldog Choke and Bononi passes out.
Winner: Jon Moxley

Team Taz is backstage and Ricky Starks and Brian Cage argue a bit about their match on last night’s Dark. Taz cuts them off, and says everything is great. He says no one can stop the path of rage.

The Pinnacle is backstage. MJF says he is going to show everyone what it’s like to be The Pinnacle. He talks about hiring people to redo their dressing room, and opens the bathroom door. The Inner Circle are in there, and he says they have to go. He opens the locker room door, but Jake Hager is there and lays him out with a right hand. The Inner Circle get the advantage and beat down The Pinnacle. It ends with Chris Jericho slamming MJF through a soda machine and having him tossed out of the locker room. The Inner Circle put their emblem outside the door and close it.

Alex Marvez is backstage with The Young Bucks. Don Callis interrupts as Matt Jackson says he doesn’t want to keep airing dirty laundry. Nick Jackson leaves and Callis tells Marvez to go away. Callis says he and Matt need to talk. Callis says he loves Kenny Omega and he thought Matt loved him too. Callis says Omega chose Matt and Nick over Japan, and they chose to leave him in the ring bleeding last week. Callis says they broke Omega’s heart and asks Matt what has happened to them. Callis slaps Matt across the face, but Matt grabs him by the collar. Matt lets him go and Callis asks him if that is it. Callis asks Matt if there is anything inside at all, and tells him he is pathetic and makes him sick.

Match #4 – Trios Tag Team Match: Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) (w/Don Callis) vs. Laredo Kid and The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix)
Laredo Kid and The Lucha Brothers take down Omega and The Good Brothers with dives at the beginning. Omega is dealt a triple superkick and Laredo goes for the cover, but Gallows breaks it up. Laredo and Omega get back in the ring and Laredo delivers a forearm shot. Laredo suplexes Omega to the mat and connects with a few moonsault presses. Laredo goes for the cover, but Omega kicks out. Gallows tags in and takes Laredo down with a roundhouse kick. Gallows tosses Laredo into the corner and delivers body shots and an uppercut. Gallows delivers more shots in the corner and tags in Anderson. Anderson takes Laredo down and goes for the cover, but Laredo kicks out. Omega tags in and delivers shots to Laredo’s shoulder. Omega goes for another cover, but Laredo kicks out again. Omega slams Laredo into the corner and tags in Gallows. Gallows drops Laredo with a boot to the face as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Gallows is still in control of Laredo. Gallows applies a sleeper hold, but Laredo fights out and drops Gallows with a DDT. Anderson and Penta tag in. Penta drops Anderson and Omega with a pair of slingblades and tags in Fenix. Fenix and Penta take Omega and Anderson down. Anderson is taken out with a series of dives and stomps by The Lucha Brothers and Laredo. Fenix goes for the cover, but Omega breaks it up. Anderson is dealt shots in the corner, but Omega and Gallows pull Laredo and Penta to the floor. Fenix is triple teamed and dropped with a triple neck-breaker. Anderson goes for the cover, but Penta breaks it up. Penta is sent to the floor, and then Anderson drops Fenix with a boot to the face. Anderson goes for the cover, but Fenix kicks out. The Good Brothers go for the Magic Killer, but Penta and Laredo break it up. Fenix kicks Omega in the face and Penta drops Omega with a Destroyer. Anderson drops Fenix with a spine-buster and goes for the cover, but Laredo breaks it up. Omega and Laredo tag in and exchange shots. Laredo gains control, but Omega comes back with a V Trigger. Omega goes for the cover, but Laredo kicks out.
The Good Brothers and The Lucha Brothers battle in the ring and then go to the floor. Laredo and Omega get back into the ring and Laredo delivers an enzuigiri. Laredo plants Omega with a Michinoku Driver and goes for the cover, but Omega kicks out. Laredo comes off the ropes, but Omega dodges him and delivers the V Trigger. Omega hits the One Winged Angel and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers
-After the match, Jon Moxley comes to the stage. The Young Bucks come to the stage as well. Moxley and The Bucks get into the ring, but Omega, the Good Brothers, and Callis quickly leave the ring.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Reba are backstage. Baker talks about Dark: Elevation, and says she saw Thunder Rosa’s name on the list. Baker says that is a good way for Rosa to get her wins up, especially since the biggest win of her career didn’t even count. Baker says she will continue to put AEW on the map.

Match #5 – Tag Team Match: Hikaru Shida and Tay Conti (w/The Dark Order) vs. Nyla Rosa and The Bunny (w/Matt Hardy, Private Party, The Butcher and The Blade, and Vickie Guerrero
All four women brawl in the ring, and then Bunny and Shida become the legal participants. Bunny delivers a few shots, but Shida comes back with a take down. Shida delivers shots on the mat, but Bunny makes it to the ropes. Shida clubs Bunny across the back and delivers a running knee lift. Rose comes around the ring and takes Shida out and tosses her back into the ring. Bunny goes for the cover, but Shida kicks out as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Shida sends Rose into the corner and then suplexes Bunny into Rose. Conti tags in and takes Bunny down with a series of judo throws. Conti delivers a running knee strike, and then kicks Bunny in the face. Conti kicks Bunny again and sends her to the floor. Conti delivers a back-breaker on the floor as Hardy looks on. Everyone on the floor break out in a brawl as Conti and Bunny get back into the ring. Conti delivers the Tay-KO and goes for the cover, but Rose breaks it up. Shida takes Rose out with a knee and dives onto the guys on the floor. Conti dives as well and takes everyone out. Bunny grabs a kendo stick and hits Conti with it as Guerrero distracts the referee. Bunny drops Conti with Down the Rabbit Hole and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Nyla Rose and The Bunny

Jurassic Express cut a promo about Bear Country. Jungle Boy says it’s about time they pick on someone their own size. They will meet in tag team action next week.

Match #6 – Arcade Anarchy: Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy vs. Kip Sabian and Miro (w/Penelope Ford)
All four men start with a brawl. Miro and Taylor stay in the ring as Sabian and Cassidy go the floor. Cassidy slams Sabian through a Whack-a-Mole machine, but Miro takes Cassidy out. Miro slams Cassidy into the ring post and slams him onto the ring apron. Miro hits Cassidy with the Whack-a-Mole mallet and lays a piece of the guardrail up. Taylor comes back and attack him, and then Best Friends double team Miro. Miro fights back and sends them off. Miro slams Cassidy into the barricade, and then suplexes Taylor on the piece that he leaned up. Miro tosses Cassidy back into the ring and grabs a chair. Miro wedges the chair in the corner, but Cassidy fights back. Miro takes control right back and slams Cassidy into the chair. Taylor comes back and hits Miro with a kendo stick. Taylor and Cassidy lay Miro with a piece of the guardrail and then throw a table on top of him. They pile more weapons on top of Miro, including the Whack-a-Mole machine. Cassidy goes for the cover on top of all the stuff, but Sabian breaks it up. Sabian delivers shots to Taylor and dropkicks Cassidy into the wall.
Sabian suplexes Taylor on the floor and dropkicks Cassidy through the wall. Taylor and Cassidy get into the ring, and then Taylor grabs a teddy bear. He unzips it and dumps out Lego pieces. Taylor grabs Sabian and goes for a suplex on the Legos. Sabian counters with shots and kicks Taylor in the face. Sabian delivers a power bomb onto the Legos and goes for the cover, but Taylor kicks out. Cassidy comes back and drops Sabian with the Beach Break. Cassidy goes for the cover, but Sabian kicks out. Penelope Ford kicks Cassidy below the belt and grabs her belt, but Kris Statlander comes out of a claw machine and beats down Ford. Statlander slams Ford through an air hockey table with a Michinoku Driver. Miro kicks Cassidy in the face and throws him around ringside. Miro delivers a few shots with a chair, and then slams Taylor and Cassidy into a table. Trent and his mom, Sue, pull up in her van and Trent rushes down and attacks Miro. Best Friends triple team Miro, but Miro comes back with kicks to everyone. Miro slams Trent into the wall and waves at Sue. He tries to climb on her van, but Trent attacks him from behind.
Miro grabs a Mortal Kombat II machine and throws it at Trent, but Trent dodges it and hits Miro with a chair. Cassidy and Trent take Miro out, and then Taylor drops Sabian with a running power slam through a table and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy
-After the match, Best Friends share a hug in the ring, and then share another with Statlander. They all five Sue a thumbs up as she watches from her van as the show comes to a close.
