WWE looking to sign a big name UFC fighter for WrestleMania 33?

There is talk within WWE about possibly working out a deal for a UFC star. They’ve had interest in Ronda Rousey & Paige Van Zant and Conor McGregor in the past but, other than the Mania appearance with Rousey in San Jose, they haven’t been able to work out something. Rousey would be the obvious first choice.

Things could be different this time because Rousey has already said that she is looking to wrap up her UFC career and she only has a few fights left. Given that things seemed to go well between Dana White and Vince McMahon for the Brock Lesnar talks, we could see a deal reached to get Rousey at #WrestleMania33 although Dana White has said in the past that he doesn’t want his fighters to wrestle while under contract to UFC. Rousey could be treated as a special case since she is such a big star and she is on her way out of UFC.

Stephanie McMahon told TMZ this week that they’d like to get Rousey so we’ll see. “God, I certainly hope so,” said McMahon. “I gotta get her back.” She did not confirm anything when asked if she would push to sign Rousey but she gave a sly grin and ended with “I’m certainly going to try.” Rousey is scheduled to face Amanda Nunes for the Women’s Bantamweight Championship at UFC 207 in December. After that, there’s been talk of a fight with Cris Cyborg and perhaps she would want to avenge her loss to Holly Holm.
