Super Smackdown 2/21/12

BMO Harris Bank Center Rockford, IL

Fireworks to start the show and they show a graphic hyping the Bryan vs. Punk match and also Big Show vs. Mark Henry tonight. Daniel Bryan  and AJ enter the ring with the microphone. Bryan says no one believed in him when he won the Money in the Bank contract in July and now he is heading to the MAIN EVENT  OF WRESTLEMANIA. Says Santino was trying to channel Rocky but he is the real Rocky story and yells “YO AJ, WE DID IT”.


Bryan says his Elimination Chamber victory was ruined by Sheamus and will ruin Sheamus’ moment at Wrestlemania. The Miz’s music hits as he heads to the ring. “Well look at you” says Miz. Miz says he knew from his mentoring days on NXT that he had what it takes to be a champion. Says he is not out to steal his spotlight but to congratulate him and thinks they should form a tag team after he beats Sheamus.


Sheamus comes out to the ring and congratulate Bryan as well for being an ass and a hypocrite. Says Bryan got what he deserved at the Chamber and Miz steps in between them and says Sheamus needs to be taken down a notch. Sheamus replies “How about you let the guys who actually have match at Wrestlemania talk”. Daniel Bryan slaps Sheamus and Miz hits him from behind while Bryan escapes up the ramp. Sheamus gains the upper hand and throws Miz out of the ring.

We come back to Sheamus controlling Miz with a shoulder lock as Michael Cole explains that Teddy Long made the match during the break. Sheamus hits Miz with the ten forearms to the chest and hits with a shoulder tackle for a two count. Sheamus whips Miz into the corner and he runs right in only for Miz to move and Sheamus posts his shoulder. Miz lands his jumping clothesline in the corner and follows up with a double ax handle from the top rope and boot to the face for a two count.


Sheamus comes back with two clotheslines and a backbreaker for a two count. Miz elbows Sheamus and lands a back breaker and neck breaker for a two count. Attempts the Skull Crushing Finale but Sheamus escapes and attempts the Brogue Kick but misses. Miz rolls up Sheamus for two and Sheamus lands the Kyptonite Krunch for three.


Winner: Sheamus via pinfall


Teddy Long is in back flirting with Aksana until David Otunga and John Laurinaitis walk in and calls Long unprofessional and that he should be both Raw and Smackdown GM. Otunga says he will beat up Jackson tonight and says Long’s office should be in a dumpster. Long makes fun of them and makes jokes about how they should not use the mens room.


Kofi Kingston & R-Truth come to the ring and Vicki comes to the ring and announces the team that she says puts the “Super” in Super Smackdown. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler.


– Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston & R-Truth

Swagger gains the upper hand on R-Truth and hits the Vader bomb for a two count. Ziggler tags in and lands a few elbow drops and misses a splash in the corner and Truth tags in Kingston. Kingston lands a couple of jumping clotheslines and a cross body from the top rope and covers Ziggler but Swagger makes the save. Swagger and Truth brawl and end up outside the ring and Vicki falls down. Ref checks on the action outside the ring and Ziggler pokes Kingston in the eye and hits the Zig Zag for the win.

Winner : Jack Swagger & Dolph Ziggler


– Did You Know Fact: Smackdown is airing live tonight in over 30 countries.

– They show Ron Simmons induction announcement for the Hall of Fame.


We see a Santino knocking over some red solo cups with the Cobra while making the hissing noise and says its target practice. Heath Slater walks in and says he has a better way to gets the cups off the table. He swipes them off the table and Santino says he shouldn’t have done that because this is a different type of Cobra. Water comes out of the Cobra’s mouth into Slater’s eyes and Santino says this is a “Spitting Cobra” and spits some more water.


– They show a picture from WWE.com hyping the Twitter War between Chris Brown and CM Punk.

Drew McIntyre is in the ring and The Great Khali walks to the rings McIntyre hides behind the Booker T and Michael Cole in fear.

McIntyre lands some punches with no effect and Khali grabs him and lifts him for the Punjabi Plunge for the win.

The Big Show is interviewed in the back and says he will knock out Mark Henry tonight and if he gets his hands on Cody Rhodes, even in the parking lot, he will snap his neck.

Show lands several punches to the gut and goes for the WMD Punch but Henry ducks and nails him with a clothesline that sends Show to the canvas. Nails him with a second clothesline and some clubbing forearms and covers him for a two count. Henry lands several boots to the face as he yells “I’m the shot caller tonight.”


Henry whips Show in the corner and bounces out and lands a clothesline and follows it up with a spear. Just as he is about to go for the cover, Cody Rhodes comes out and shows his Sumo match titled  “A embarrassing Wrestlemania moment” on the titan tron. Henry comes up from behind and body slams Big Show and hits the big splash for a two count. Big Show lands the WMD Punch and leaves the ring to chase Cody Rhodes.

Winner: Mark Henry via count out  


– HHH vs. The Undertaker video package from last night is shown

– Video hyping their You Tube show “Are You Serious” shows Ricky Steamboat training Jay Youngblood.


Teddy Long comes out dancing and Ezekiel Jackson comes out. John Laurinaitis comes out mocking Long’s dance and David Otunga comes out. They show a video with Jackson saying he let the Smackdown brand down and Otunga goes down tonight.


– Ezekiel Jackson vs. David Otunga


Jackson throws Otunga in the ropes and shoulder tackles him and proceeds to work him over with punches in the corner. Jackson lands a fallaway slam and gets him the torture rack. Otunga grabs hold of the rope and drops Jackson’s neck on the top rope and hits the one handed spine buster for the 1,2,3.


Winner: David Otunga via pinfall


– Did You Know Fact: The Rock & John Cena are the two WWE Superstars with the most Twitter followers.

– Video package of Eve’s heel turn is aired.

– They announce Eve interview on Raw this Monday to explain her actions

CM Punk interview: Says Teddy Long has his vote to run Smackdown and Raw. Will address Jericho on Raw face to face and believes winning the world heavyweight title has gone to Daniel Bryan’s head and tonight, he is going to teach him how to lose.


– Bryan comes out first followed by Punk and Michael Cole mentions Chris Brown’s tweet to CM Punk I miss the real wrestlers! ( Hacksaw Jim duggan, Brett the hitman heart, coco beware, rowdy roddy piper#Notnopunks #1 Trend Worldwide on Twitter.


– Champion vs. Champion Match: CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan

 Some quick chain wrestling to start the match and they both get to their feet and stare at each other while the crowd applauds and we go to commercial. We come back and Punk lands a knee to the gut and that flips Bryan up and over.  Punk springboards to the top rope and misses a cross body and lands on his left arm and screams in pain. Ref checks on Punk but Bryan jumps in and delivers several stiff kicks to the chest and works over the left arm of Punk. Bryan lands a knee drop to Punk’s left arm. Punk battles back with some stiff kicks of his own and lands a clothesline but hurts his arm while trying to turn Bryan around. Bryan misses a headkick and attempts the LeBell lock. Punk attempts the GTS but Bryan escapes and rolls outside the ring. Sheamus comes down and throws Bryan back in the ring and Punk lands a head kick for the win.


Winner: CM Punk via pinfall

John Laurinaitis hits the ring and says he will not allow interference like this to take place and orders the match to continue and we go to commercial. We are back and Punk is on the mat while Bryan lands two stiff kicks to the back. They show footage of Bryan getting beat up outside the ring during the break. Bryan rolls up Punk and holds the ropes for the pin.


Winner: Daniel Bryan via pinfall


Teddy Long comes out and says he saw Daniel Bryan grab the rope and orders the ref to restart the match.


Both General Managers stay at ringside as Punk and Bryan trade forearms and kicks until Punk belly to back suplexes Bryan over the top rope and to the floor. Punk lands a running dive between the ropes and lands a springboard clothesline off the top rope for a two count. Punk lands his running knees in the corner but Bryan counters a bulldog by grabbing Punk’s arm and driving it into the mat. Bryan hits a running dropkick for two, then sets him up on the top rope and hits a hurricanrana but Punk rolls through and gets a two count.

Punk fights out of a LeBell Lock attempt and slingshots Bryan into the corner and goes for another cover, but Bryan gets his foot on the rope. Punk goes for an elbow drop but Bryan crotches him on the ropes and sets up for a superplex. Bryan hits the superplex but Punk hooks Bryan’s legs and the ref counts three but both of them had their shoulders down. Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis get in the ring and argue over who won. Each wrestler gets their arm raised. The GM’s get into a shouting match and throw their jackets at each other. Teddy leaves the ring as Bryan tries to convince Laurinaitis that he should be declared the winner as Smackdown goes off the air.

Result: No Contest
