11/17/11 Impact Wrestling Recap

Impact Wrestling opens with Bobby Roode saying that he is the leader of the selfish generation and that he doesn’t care who he steps on as he will do what it takes to keep the TNA World Championship. His controversial win at Turning Point against AJ Styles is focused upon. We then head into the Impact Zone, where Roode is making his way to the ring.

Roode gets on the microphone and says he is embarrassed to admit that he was a member of Fortune. Roode continues to say he was the star and leader of Fortune and that he let the rest of them ride his coattails. He tells AJ Styles, James Storm, and Kazarian to grow into men as he won’t let them stand in his shadow any longer.

James Storm’s music hits and he comes out and says he isn’t going to stand in the shadow of a jackass and wants Roode to explain why he attacked him backstage last week. Storm begins to make his way towards the ring as security stops him. Roode says he didn’t attack him last week and says he wouldn’t have to stoop as low as to attack him from behind since he knows he can beat him.

Storm says he is going to find out who did it, but is going to kick Roode’s ass for guilt by association. Storm again charges the ring but is dragged off by security, however, AJ Styles enters the ring from the other side and takes Roode out. Security runs into the ring to break up the brawl but Styles gets the best of Roode in the exchange as we head into a commercial break.

We return and the ring is still full as Styles has a microphone. Styles calls Roode a piece of trash for turning his back on Fortune and for screwing both him and Storm over. Styles says Roode can take a punch but what he won’t enjoy Styles taking the title from him. Roode says he already had a shot and Styles needs to go to the end of the line. The two begin to try to go at it again as Sting’s music hits.

Sting comes out and says Roode stabbed both Storm and Styles in the back. He is going to allow Storm some time to recover from his phantom attack but books a 30-minute Iron Man Match against AJ Style for the TNA World Championship at Final Resolution. Sting asks Roode can go toe-to-toe with Styles for 30 minutes as he walks off.

We join the announce team who briefly talk about what just went down as they cut back to Bobby Roode, who is ringside yelling at Dixie Carter. Roode goes into the crowd as AJ Styles comes back out to Dixie’s aid. Styles pulls Dixie away but Roode shoves Styles, who lands on Dixie in the ringside area. Security comes out once more, but Roode takes them all out before beating down Styles. Sting and agents have to come out to put a stop to this as Roode walks away.

James Storm is walking backstage as he is stopped by Samoa Joe, who tells him that it was Roode who attacked him last week as he saw Roode the entire night last week in the locker room. Joe says he just wants to see the right person getting credit for it as Storm insinuates that Joe had something to do with it. Joe says if it was him, Storm wouldn’t be getting back up, which causes Storm to go after Joe. Joe escapes as Storm is held back by Kazarian and Devon and we head into another commercial break.

Sting catches up with Bobby Roode in the back and he pushes him. Sting says he can’t put his hands on Dixie Carter and from now on they play by Sting’s rules. Roode fires back and says Sting will hear from his lawyers if he ever puts his hands on him again.

Match 1: Devon vs. Robbie E. (TNA Television Championship)
D’Angelo Dinero is in Devon’s corner for this match and Robbie T. is in the corner of Robbie E. The bell rings as Devon goes on the attack and powers Robbie around in the opening moments. Robbie T. causes a momentary distraction but Devon is able to send Robbie E. out to the floor. Devon goes out and rolls Robbie E. back into the ring as Robbie T. comes around the corner and levels Dinero.

Back in the ring, Devon takes Robbie down with a neckbreaker as Eric Young runs down to the ringside area and cracks Robbie T. in the back with a chair. Devon’s two sons then go out to check on Pope, which distracts Devon, as Robbie E. rolls him up while pulling on the tights to score the pin fall. After the match, EY chases Robbie E. up the ramp as Devon looks on in disgust as his sons tend to Dinero.

Sting is backstage talking to Garett Bischoff who says Bischoff surprised him last week. Garett says he wasn’t as green as some people thought and wants Sting to give him one more favor this week and let him finish what he started with Gunner. Sting says he has to think about it as the two shake hands and depart.

Matt Morgan and Crimson walk by as Sting says there are no dominating tag teams in TNA right now. Sting says Mexican America wants out of TNA due to the lack of competition and wants to know what they think about teaming together. They agree as Sting books the two in a match against Mexican America for the tag team titles tonight.

Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff are in the locker room as Sting walks in. Sting talks about rewriting Bischoff contract but Bischoff says he isn’t going to sign off on it. Sting says he can’t legally fire Bischoff, but he can do other things. Sting says that his son wants Gunner once more and he is going to get it. Sting says Garett is going to go through each member of Immortal until he gets his hands on his father and become a bigger star that Bischoff in the process. Sting then tells them that he is going to be in Garett’s corner tonight before walking away.

Match 2: Kid Kash & Austin Aries vs. Jesse Sorensen & Brian Kendrick
Sorensen hits Kash with a series of chops and knees to get this match started before picking up a near fall after hitting a cross body block from the top rope. Kendrick is tagged into the match and hits Kash with a dropkick but misses with a high risk move. Kash goes into his corner but Aries tells him that he said he could handle it and refuses to be tagged in. This gives time for Kendrick to recover and dumps Kash out to the floor and finishes it by diving onto Kash. Aries then causes a distraction as he dives through the ropes and takes Kendrick out.

Aries then tags himself into the match and goes for the cover but Kendrick kicks out. Aries tags Kash back into the match and Sorensen is also tagged in and he levels Kash with a series of clotheslines and a dropkick before hitting a bridging suplex for a near fall. Kash catches Sorensen with a back elbow and tags Aries is, who goes in the ring and tags Kash back into the match before walking away. Kash heads to the top rope and misses with a moonsault as Sorensen puts him away to pick up the pin fall.

Karen Jarrett is backstage with Madison Rayne and Gail Kim. Karen congratulates Gail on her win at Turning Point and tells her that she has the night off. She then tells Madison who she has to take out during the gauntlet match as we head into a commercial break.

Mr. Anderson is backstage playing video games as James Storm walks in. Storm says he wants to find out who attacked him from behind and gave him a concussion. Storm wonders if an asshole could do something like that and Anderson says if he is going to attack him, he wouldn’t do it from behind. Anderson then offers Storm to join in on the game as Storm unplugs the console and walks away.

Match 3: 10-Knockout Gauntlet
The winner of this gauntlet will become the #1 contender to Gail Kim’s Knockouts Championship. Rosita and Velvet Sky start things off and Velvet quickly pins her after one move. Brooke Tessmacher is the next one out and she takes Velvet down with a dropkick and a clothesline but Velvet takes her down with a face plant to pick up the pin fall.

Angelina Love is the next one out as the two former partners go at it. Angelina takes her down with a clothesline and picks up a near fall after slamming Velvet down to the mat. Velvet comes back with a couple of knees, however, Angelina rolls her up and pins her while pulling on the tights. Mickie James is the fifth Knockout to enter the gauntlet but Angelina takes her out on the floor as we head into a commercial break.

We return to the action to see Angelina in control over Mickie as the match has made it to the ring. Angelina takes her down with a side slam for a near fall as Mickie begins to mount a comeback. Mickie lays Angelina out with a kick to pick up the pin fall over Angelina as Sarita is the next one out. Sarita takes Mickie out with a dropkick and puts Mickie in a submission but Mickie counters for a near fall. Sarita quickly regains control but Mickie is able to counter and pick up the pin fall with a DDT.

Tara is the next one in the match and the two trade submission holds. Mickie is able to get to the ropes to break a leg lock, however, Tara hits a standing moonsault for a near fall. Mickie then hits Tara with a DDT to pick up another near fall. Winter comes out and she nearly picks up a near fall after hitting Mickie with a bridging suplex. Winter continues on the attack and hits a backbreaker on Mickie but Mickie levels Winter with a superkick to pick up the pin fall.

ODB is the ninth Knockout to enter the gauntlet and hits Mickie with a fallaway slam before crushing Mickie in the corner. ODB hits Mickie with a bronco buster and goes for a pin fall but Mickie kicks out. Mickie fights back and hits ODB with a Lou Thesz press to pick up the pin fall. Madison Rayne is the final entrant into the match, however, ODB levels Mickie before Madison makes it to the ring. Madison takes her time getting to the ring and Mickie ends up rolling her up to pick up the pin fall and wins the gauntlet.

Bully Ray is backstage bullying around a little girl as James Storm walks in and tells Ray to bully him around. Storm says all fingers point to Ray jumping him last week but Ray says he has his hands full with Abyss. Ray says he knows who did it, though, and that person is in the building tonight. Ray then tells Storm to forget about everything and join Immortal. Storm says there is no chance of that ever happening as he walks away.

Garett Bischoff is backstage says he is excited to show Gunner what he is made of and finish Gunner off once and for all.

Jeff Hardy’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring and grabs a microphone. Hardy says it’s about time to set his sights on the TNA World Championship as he is cut off by Karen Jarrett’s music. Karen comes out and says she is out here to put him in his place. She says she isn’t here to fight her husband’s battles but she thinks Hardy needs to step up and be a man like her husband.

Karen then says that she had become friends with Hardy’s wife and tries to embarrass him by talking about how even she thinks he isn’t a real man. Hardy says he is more than a man and says that her and Jeff are little bitches. Jeff Jarrett tries to sneak in from behind, but Hardy sees him and turns around. Karen then tries to nail Hardy with a low blow, but he catches her in the process, however, the distraction is enough for Jarrett to level Hardy with a right. Hardy fights back until Jarrett runs out of the ring.

Mexican American is backstage are talking about how strong they are and go off in Spanish. Mexican America will be defending the TNA Tag Team Championship against Matt Morgan & Crimson after the commercial break.

Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff are talking with Gunner backstage and tells him to destroy Garett Bischoff tonight. Flair tells him not to worry about him being family or being younger, but tells him to hurt him tonight.

Match 4: Mexican America vs. Matt Morgan & Crimson
The match starts and Crimson picks up a quick near fall after hitting Anaquia with a shoulder block. Crimson continues on the attack and picks up another near fall after hitting a neckbreaker. Sarita and Rosita then distracts the referee as Hernandez levels Crimson with a clothesline to gain control of the match. Mexican America work together to wear Crimson down and Hernandez picks up a near fall after hitting a shoulder block. Crimson finally comes back with a spear and crawls to his corner to make the tag to Matt Morgan.

Morgan comes in and takes out both members of Mexican America. Morgan then plants Anarquia with a chokeslam and goes for the cover but Hernandez comes in and breaks it up. Mexican America tries to double team Morgan but he takes them both out with a double clothesline. The match then breaks down as Crimson sends Hernandez out to the floor with a clothesline and Morgan levels Anarquia with a Carbon Footprint to pick up the pin fall to win the TNA Tag Team Championships.

The camera is following James Storm around and he says he knows who did it and he will call him out after the next match. Sting is also seen talking with Garett Bischoff as his match against Gunner is coming up next.

Match 5: Gunner vs. Garett Bischoff
Eric Bischoff tries to distract his son in the early going but he doesn’t fall for it and takes Gunner down. Gunner comes back with a back drop and levels him with a clothesline to take control of the match. Gunner the charges at Garett but he moves and Gunner nails the ring post. The doesn’t slow Gunner down too much as Bischoff distracts Garett and Gunner is able to maintain control of the match. Gunner begins to toy with Garett but he manages to counter Gunner’s offense with a DDT to pick up the upset victory. After the match, Sting comes into the ring to congratulate Garett on the victory as Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair can’t believe what just happened.

James Storm is walking backstage and is heading towards the ring as he promises to announce who attacked him backstage last week after we come back from the break. Storm comes down to the ring and says he is sick of playing games and is going to blame everyone in the back for what happened to him. Storm then calls AJ Styles out to the ring and Styles comes down to the ring.

Styles can’t believe Storm is calling him out and says he can’t see or think straight. Storm says since he was put on the shelf, Styles got not one, but two, title shots against Bobby Roode. Styles says Storm is wrong and begins to turn his back but Storm stops him. Kazarian comes out steps in between the two of them before getting Styles to leave the ring.

Storm then leaves the ring as Kurt Angle sneaks from beneath the ring and sends Storm into the steel steps. Angle then rolls Storm into the ring and takes him down with an Angle Slam before grabbing a microphone and says he is the guilty one. Angle then tells him to go home and tell his daughter that he was the one that gave him a concussion as Impact Wrestling comes to a close.

– Robbie E. defeated Devon by pin fall to retain the TNA Television Championship.
– Jesse Sorensen & Brian Kendrick defeated Austin Aries & Kid Kash by pin fall.
– Mickie James won a 10-Knockout Gauntlet match to become the #1 Contender to the Knockouts Championship.
– Matt Morgan & Crimson defeated Mexican America to become the new TNA Tag Team Champions.
– Garett Bischoff defeated Gunner by pin fall.
