The GERWECK.NET Hall of Fame is intended to include the elite members of the wrestling community that deserve to be inducted into a prestigious hall of fame without prejudice or politics. Areas of consideration for induction should include (but not be limited to) a wrestler’s drawing power, wrestling ability, impact or influences on the business, longevity, and passion/drive for the industry. Non-in ring performers (such as promoters, announcers, referees, etc.) should also be judged by a similar criterion, based on the highest standards for their areas. Remember, this is not a popularity contest. This hall of fame will only include the best of the best. Readers should e-mail with names of candidates worthy of consideration. The name with the highest number of suggestions will be considered for voting the following month. Thus, twelve names will be considered per year, and the number of inductees for the year is totally up to the GERWECK.NET readers. If a subject doesn’t qualify for induction, he or she will remain off the consideration list for twelve months. If a subject receives 70% or higher, he or she will be inducted.

How is the Honkey Tonk Man not in? Greatest IC champ of all time! Haters

  2. Ryan says:

I was going to ask how Ultimo Dragon got in and not Rey Mysterio.

  3. Atlee Greene says:

It’s a shame. I think most people forget about the Taz who suplexed his way through ECW and only remember the WWE version where he was a commentator the majority of his time there.

  4. heehee says:

The Taz who suplexed his way through ECW does not deserve to be in this hall of fame. He was only in ECW for six years, only the last three or four of which was he using the human suplex machine gimmick. That’s a really brief run in a relatively small promotion and unfortunately, his impact during that brief run was nowhere near as huge as it should be for a hall of fame recognition.

That more people, at least on a proportionate basis, think Tazz is more deserving than Rey Mysterio says all that is wrong with wrestling fans. Rey Mysterio revolutionised the North American wrestling industry by pushing the lucha libre style to prominence in not one but three promotions, including ECW, WCW and WWE. He’s wrestled numerous classic matches from his early days with the likes of Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera to his later days with the likes of Eddie Guerrera and CM Punk. But oh no, he can’t be in a hall of fame because some internet smarks resent the idea that he won the heavyweight championship despite his smaller frame or that he continues to play a stale and boring babyface character or that he’s one of the WWE’s main merchandise cashcow machine. Someone like JBL who has contributed relatively little to the industry is in the hall of fame but not someone who has contributed as much as Rey Mysterio? Even JBL himself would think that’s ridiculous.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves. The human suplex machine will always be a legend in my mind.

  6. Drew says:

Tazz was awesome. Beat him if you can; survive if he lets you.

  7. ha says:

@Adurka, you wouldn’t know a rational thought even if Tazz suplexed one into you.
