Red Bastien passes away

Smith Hart via Twitter:

My condolences to the family of Red Bastien. He was a timeless professional and he will be missed. RIP Red.

Note: In his retirement, Bastien became a trainer and a promoter, and discovered future wrestlers Steve “Sting” Borden and Jim “The Ultimate Warrior” Hellwig at a Gold’s Gym and convinced them to become professional wrestlers. Bastien was 81.

During the late 80s – early 90s, i was (and still am) a HUGE warrior fan. So i thank red bastien for bringing him in to the business. RIP

Amazing wrestler. He did high flying moves in the 60’s and 70’s which haven’t been duplicated even today. His team with Billy LYons could have easily stepped into any promotion today and dominated. He was on the first card I ever saw, in 1969. I wish he would have booked, he had a great mind for the business.
