Oct 14, 2011 - by Jason Graening

Impact Wrestling kicks off with a recap of Hulk Hogan’s retirement announcement and how Sting coaxed him into wrestling at Bound for Glory while putting control of TNA on the line. Bobby Roode’s series of matches against his Fortune friends is also touched upon. We then see Hulk Hogan and Sting arriving to the arena as the announce team hypes their contract signing later on tonight.

Kurt Angle’s music hits as he makes his way down to the ring and calls out Bobby Roode for one last talk before their match on Sunday. Roode comes out as the fans in Knoxville chant “next World Champ!” Angle says Roode passed his test, but reminds him that he isn’t Kazarian, AJ Styles or James Storm, but he is Kurt Angle, the greatest wrestler that has ever lived. Angle runs down his past accomplishments and says he has dominated TNA all by himself. Angle says he will once again prove that he is the best at Bound for Glory as he offers his hand out to Roode for a handshake.

Roode refuses to shake Angle’s hand and instead grabs a microphone. Roode says it takes heart to be a champion and the man with the bigger heart will survive. Roode says Angle had the heart in 1996 to win a gold medal and calls him a machine, and Roode says he wants to find out who has the bigger heart at Bound for Glory and will take this company into the future. Roode says he doesn’t want any games, no Immortal and no Fortune, and wants to see who the better wrestler is on Sunday. Angle agrees to it and the two shake hands as Angle leaves the ring.

As Angle is leaving, he turns around and says he forgot to tell him that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff booked him in another tune up match tonight. Angle says Roode will be facing Gunner and Jeff Jarrett in a handicap match. Angle then wishes him luck before heading to the back.

We head to the back to see RVD, AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn and Christopher Daniels brawling in the backstage area. Mike Tenay tells us the four are set to compete later on tonight in a tag team match as we head into a commercial break.

We return to see three of the four have made their way to the stage and are fighting their way towards the ring. Daniels and Lynn are beating down Styles as RVD is nowhere to be found. Once they make it to the ring, the referee calls for the bell to get this match started.

Match 1: AJ Styles & Rob Van Dam vs. Christopher Daniels & Jerry Lynn
The match starts as Daniels and Lynn work together to work over Styles. RVD runs down to the ring and takes down Daniels and Lynn with a series of kicks and sends Daniels flying with a monkey flip. The match finally turns into a tag team match as RVD and Styles work over Daniels with quick tags in and out of the match. RVD picks up a few near falls but Lynn interferes and drags him out to the floor while the referee is distracted.

Lynn is tagged into the match and RVD takes him down with a kick and goes for a moonsault, but Lynn gets his knees up to block the move. Lynn and Daniels begin to weaken RVD with quick tags in and out but RVD is able to counter Daniels’ offense and tags Styles into the match. Lynn is also tagged in and Styles picks up a near fall after hitting a dropkick but Daniels breaks up the pin attempt. The match then breaks down as RVD kicks Daniels out to the floor and dives over the top rope and crashes down on Daniels. Lynn heads out to the floor to help his partner and Styles takes out all three by diving over the top rope.

Daniels goes back into the ring and Styles takes him out with a flying forearm. Styles then tries to go for the Styles Clash but Daniels is able to escape. Daniels then shoves Lynn into Styles who connects with a Pele kick. Styles hits Lynn with the Styles Clash as Daniels looks on and picks up the pin fall for his team.

The announce team hypes the contract signing between Hulk Hogan and Sting and a match between Samoa Joe and Matt Morgan, which is coming up next.

Match 2: Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan
The bell rings and the two go at it with a series of strikes. Morgan sends Joe into the turnbuckle a few times before hitting him with a knee lift. Morgan connects with a series of reverse elbows but Joe is able to fight back with a few kicks. Joe then puts Morgan on the turnbuckle but Morgan leaps over Joe and rolls him up to pick up the pin fall.

After the match, Joe takes Morgan down with a chop block and begins to focus on Morgan’s legs and puts him in a figure four. The referee tries to pull Joe off as Crimson limps his way down to the ring with a steel chair. Crimson chases Joe out of the ring as Joe grabs a microphone and wonders why the two have each other’s backs. Joe says he sees a couple of beta males that are scared of each other and wants to face both of them in a triple threat match at Bound for Glory. Joe says they have a choice to either be the alpha male or friends.

The announce team continue to hype the contract signing between Hulk Hogan and Sting and Bobby Roode in a handicap match against Jeff Jarrett and Gunner as we head into a commercial break.

Mexican America is in the ring and makes fun of Ink Inc. before calling them out to the ring. Ink Inc. comes out and ask Anarquia to show off the tattoo that Shannon Moore gave him a few weeks ago. Moore then grabs the microphone and says his wheels are turning and tells them to get out of America as Mexican America attacks them as Sarita and Rosita also get involved.

A mohawked girl comes out and helps Ink Inc. as they turn the tide on Mexican America. Ink Inc. tries to pull off Anarquia’s shirt, but Hernandez pulls him out of the ring. Jesse Neal then tells Mexican America to bring all of the girls they want at Bound for Glory, because they have backup. Although she wasn’t formally introduced, it is Neal’s girlfriend, Christina Von Eerie.

Match 3: Brian Kendrick & Jesse Sorensen vs. Kid Kash & Austin Aries
Kendrick and Sorensen attack their opponents on the floor to get this match started. Sorensen and Kash start things off in the ring and Sorensen picks up a two count after hitting a spinning neckbreaker. Aries trips up Sorensen and Kash takes over control of the match and work Sorensen over with quick tags in and out of the match. Kash tries for a high risk move but Sorensen blocks it and crawls to his corner to tag in Kendrick.

Kendrick comes in and takes out both Aries and Kash and tries for a double Sliced Bread #2 but Aries and Kash push him into the turnbuckle. Aries and Kash then begin to argue for a bit as Sorensen gets into a 3 point stance and charges at Aries but Aries sidesteps him and he spears Kash through the ring ropes. With the referee distracted, Aries grabs the X Division Championship but Kendrick hits Aries and hits the Sliced Bread #2 onto the title. Kendrick then pins Aries before grabbing the title and dancing around the ring with it.

The announce team continues to hype the contract signing as we see Karen Jarrett and Traci Brooks walking backstage as we head into a commercial break.

We head back to the arena where Velvet Sky, Mickie James, Winter and Angelina Love make their way to the ring. Karen Jarrett, Madison Rayne and Traci Brooks also come out and Karen says she expects each of them to make her proud on Sunday as she had to fight to put them on the card. Karen says nobody wanted them on the card because Bound for Glory is for the upper class, and not for the street walking ho’s.

Velvet stands up to Karen but Karen verbally runs her down. Velvet says there will be a time where Karen will respect her once she becomes the next Knockouts Champion. Karen says that will happen over her dead body but Velvet pushes Karen down with a little help from Traci. A brawl then erupts in the ring until security comes in and breaks it up. As they are walking up the ramp, Karen blows up on Traci and tells her that she will be scrubbing toilets for the rest of her life.

Bully Ray is backstage and talks about being a special enforcer in tonight’s match. He warns Mr. Anderson not to do anything that will piss off the enforcer or he might not make it to Bound for Glory.

AJ Styles is walking in the parking lot and says Christopher Daniels just had to have another match. Styles says Daniels wants an I Quit match and tells Daniels to ask Tommy Dreamer about the last I Quit match he was in. Daniels then sneak attacks Styles and begins choking him with a cable and says he wants the world to hear Styles say I quit on Sunday.

Match 4: Scott Steiner vs. Mr. Anderson w/ Special Enforcer Bully Ray
Steiner attacks Anderson from behind as he was distracted by Bully Ray who is out on the floor. Steiner picks up a two count after hitting a belly-to-belly suplex and continues to wear down Anderson. Steiner hits an overhead suplex but Anderson is able to come back with a spinning neckbreaker for a near fall. Ray then pulls Anderson out to the floor but Anderson drops im with a clothesline.

Anderson heads back into the ring where Steiner hits Anderson with a low blow. Abyss makes his way towards the ring with a chain wrapped around his hand. Steiner holds Anderson up as Abyss swings and he accidentally nails Steiner instead. Anderson tosses Abyss out to the floor and covers Steiner for the pin.

After the match, Ray goes in the ring and yells at Abyss as Gunner and Jeff Jarrett come out to the ring. All three of them get in Abyss’ face and yell at him and Ray begins to push him. Abyss finally grabs Ray by the throat but Steiner hits Abyss from behind as everyone begins to beat him down. Ray sets up a table in the ring but Anderson comes out and helps Abyss, but the numbers are too much. Ray then sends Anderson through the table with a Bubba Bomb as Immortal stands tall in the ring.

Sting is seen in the backstage area and the announce team hype the contract signing and the handicap match of Jeff Jarrett and Gunner against Bobby Roode, which is coming up next.

James Storm is in his dressing room as Kurt Angle walks in. Storm says Angle cost him the match last week but Angle tries to turn it on him by saying his friend took advantage of the situation. Storm says Roode didn’t know anything about Angle’s involvement and Angle says if that sits well with Storm, then it sits well with him as he leaves.

Jeff Jarrett and Gunner is backstage and Jarrett says Roode has been successful with the Fortune Gauntlet, but promises that he won’t make it out alive against the two of them.

The announce team then hype the Bound for Glory card as we are treated to a video package that focuses on the main event of Bound for Glory. Bobby Roode he talks about bringing a fresh face into the top spot and moving forward with his career. Kurt Angle says Roode has a lot to prove and has a lot on his shoulders.

Match 5: Jeff Jarrett & Gunner vs. Bobby Roode (Handicap Match)
The match starts and Roode holds his own against Gunner and Jarrett in the opening moments until the numbers game catches up with him. Jarrett and Gunner begin to inflict punishment on Roode and try to soften him up for Angle on Sunday. Jarrett and Gunner hit Roode with a double suplex and begin to mock Roode with his Beer Money chant as Roode recovers and takes them down with a double clothesline. Roode begins to toss them around the ring and picks up a near fall on Jarrett after hitting a neckbreaker.

Roode sends Gunner out to the floor as Jarrett sets up for the Stroke, but Roode counters and takes Jarrett down with a spinebuster. Roode then locks Jarrett in a crossface until Gunner comes in the ring. After the match, Roode continues to go after Jarrett until Bully Ray and Scott Steiner runs out to help their Immortal buddies.

James Storm runs out to help his partner but Immortal quickly take him down. Kurt Angle makes his way towards the ring and is about to nail Roode until he is interrupted by Jeff Hardy’s music. Hardy runs out and clears the ring before hitting Jarrett with a Twist of Fate. Storm gets in Hardy’s face but he wants to make peace and offers a handshake and Roode shakes it, although Storm doesn’t look too impressed. Hardy tries to leave the ring but Storm pushes him back. Beer Money then raises Hardy’s arms as the three celebrate in the ring.

A splitscreen is aired where we see Sting and Hulk Hogan making their way to the ring. Their contract signing is coming up next after the break.

Jeff Hardy is in the parking lot and says he saved the next World Champion tonight. Jeff Jarrett comes in and says they have had a connection ever since Hardy stepped into wrestling, however, he is out of his chances and Hardy is no longer welcome in this company. Hardy says he is going out to buy a ticket for Bound for Glory before walking away.

Jeremy Borash is in the ring and introduces Hulk Hogan and Sting for their contract signing. The two sit down at the table as Borash slides the contract towards Hogan to get him to sign but he slides it away. Sting goes ahead and signs it but Hogan is reluctant to do so. The fans begin a “Hogan sucks!” chant as he finally signs the dotted line.

Borash asks the two for any final words but the two sit there in silence. Hogan finally gets up and knocks over the table before saying they had a brief encounter in the past but Sting has danced around him. Hogan says he wasn’t hard to find, but now he dug down as low as he could and challenged him to a fight in the twilight of his career. Hogan says Sting is finally getting a shot at him but warns Sting to be careful for what he wishes for and says it will be the fight of Sting’s life. Hogan says the match will be one-on-one with no interference and says Sting has his word on it.

Eric Bischoff interrupts and says if Hogan leaves anything left of Sting, he is going to get his revenge for Sting putting his hands on him two weeks ago.
