WWE to pay $5 million in settlement

Jun 13, 2011 - by Steve Gerweck

The law firm Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C. issued a press release announcing a settlement offer of $5 million after 4 weeks of trial on behalf of a client who was injured in a low impact motor vehicle accident driven by a WWE employee in downtown Manhattan. The firm – on behalf of their client Kimberly Benson – sued WWE and the driver, Matthew Yackeren, for past and future medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. The accident happened on November 2, 2007, when Yackeren was driving a commercial van in the financial district of downtown Manhattan. While attempting to pass traffic, he backed up and then struck Ms. Benson’s jeep in the back driver side bumper with the side of his van. Benson suffered a fracture of the cartilage in her knee and underwent several surgical procedures.
