– Hernandez began his career competing both as Shawn Hernandez and Hotstuff Hernandez
– On November 6, 2000, Hernandez appeared on WWF television, losing to Crash Holly on Jakked
– On December 1, 2000, Hernandez defeated Al Jackson to win the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title
– On March 16, 2001, Hernandez defeated Gary Tool to regain the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title
– On April 13, 2001, Hernandez defeated Kevin Northcutt to retain the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title
– In June 2001, Hernandez made his first Japanese appearance, competing for All Japan
– On August 17, 2001, Hernandez defeated Kevin Northcutt to win the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title for a third time

It transpired that Hernandez approached TNA claiming that he was a free agent whilst still under contract with LU. The debacle resulted in TNA’s Beat Down Clan being removed from television and led to the TNA departures of MVP and Kenny King
