Mercedes Moné credits herself as being a factor in WWE signing Stephanie Vaquer…
Mercedes Mone, who faced Stephanie at the 2024 AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event, commented on their match in her newsletter…
“Another time was with Stephanie Vaquer for AEW’s Forbidden Door. Stephanie flew in that day and got to the building maybe an hour before the doors opened. We just talked about the match a little where she speaks a whole different language (Spanish). That was so hard. I’m like, my God, we don’t get time to walk over our moves, we speak two different languages, and we’re both tired, jet lagged, and hungry, too. Yet, that also turned out to be such a great match. She was signed by the WWE days later. I’d like to think our match had a say in that!”
“She speaks a whole different language” is part of your reasoning for why the match turned out like it did? You’ve never wrestled anyone from or in another country? Like say Japan, where everyone apparently speaks flawless English and there’s absolutely no barriers to communication?
Also, it’s another Mercedes Moné article. That means it’s time for another 100+ comment political argument between maybe 2 but up to 6 people. I’ll start. Trump is bad! Harris is bad! And…go!
@Foley! Foli! Folé! has done it again
Actually, it was a Big Red Political Dork article. Mercedes was just collateral damage…
@Luke–Another comment thread like before and we’re ALL collateral damage.
@art123guy
I enjoyed it…
@Luke–I kid, I kid!
Mercedes Varnado is delusional! Just like the company she works for. Stephanie Vaquer was signed because she’s a hell of a talent.
@art123guy
I know, but I still enjoyed it. Just need to get rid of WrestleFan from my name dropdown now…
@Foley
Don’t know if you read her entire comment. It wasn’t just the speaking two languages thing. It was also the fact that they didn’t get to even briefly walk through the match beforehand and they were both still suffering the after-effects of travel.
@Nightmare
Sounds like you’re just mad that there’s once again more than one major brand in wrestling. It seems like you think that WWE should be the only major player that exists. Well, we’ve had that situation from the early 2000s up until TNA/AEW, and as any wrestling fan can attest to you, it’s likely why the response to Triple H’s comment about “Mark and his friend” were so ironic (WWE’s weekly viewership falling so hugely). Wrestling doesn’t deserve that kind of stale product simply because only one major player exists in the industry.
The other article was Mercedes Mone and Glenn Jacobs. The comment section was in regard to what he said. He’s not mentioned in this article so I highly doubt there will be any political talk.
@Luke & Joseph (two separate people as far as I can tell): Yeah, that was mostly an apparently poor attempt at a joking callback to the Commenters Trios Championship thread where I (also jokingly, to be clear) claimed that Mercedes Moné was the mastermind behind every username on this site. Wait, did I just use the “I was only joking” defense? Does that make me WoooostleFan #0? Speaking of…
@WrestleFan: Don’t know if you read my entire comment. I referred to it as “part of (her) reasoning,” which would imply that I recognize other reasons were also listed. It just wasn’t one of the better reasons because as I said she’s surely dealt with it before. I get that there are sometimes obstacles and everyone has an off night once in a while. But the best do their best to work through the obstacles like professionals. When that doesn’t work and the off night happens they either own it or brush it off instead of going into a laundry list that sounds more like excuses the longer it gets, justified or not.
@Foley! Foli! Folé! has done it again
We’re Joke, nobody else gets to joke! And that’s on Joseph, I wanted to be Luseph…
If this was anyone else, I’d call kayfabing. With her, I’m not so sure. You need to remember that she’s surrounded with idiots that keep telling her how great she is.
@Luke: You’re right. I humbly and respectfully withdraw my joke. Ummm…jest? Rib? I don’t know, words are confusing right now. Especially ones like “part of.”
Speaking of, I think we need to invent a new word for Moné. She believes her own hype to the point that she needs to put out justifications like this when something doesn’t go perfectly. I don’t know if that means she’s in a permanent state of kayfabe or if it isn’t kayfabe anymore because it’s what she really believes or if it’s something in between.
She thinks very highly of herself to bad she is not as good as she thinks she is
