Jon Jones is preparing for his rematch with Daniel Cormier, in the main event of UFC 214 this weekend, but he made headlines during a recent Facebook Live chat by saying he would love to take on Brock Lesnar, who made a one-off appearance at UFC 200 last year
Lesnar is the current WWE Universal Champion, and will defend his title in a Fatal 4-Way Match at SummerSlam against Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Samoa Joe.
Jones added that he thought Lesnar would never accept such a fight, which would certainly be one of the biggest events in mixed martial arts history.
When Lesnar was contacted by The Associated Press for a response Tuesday, the former heavyweight champion made his willingness clear.
“Would I fight Jon Jones? Anytime, anywhere,” Lesnar said. “Right now he should be worried about D.C. on Saturday night.”
With that statement, Lesnar also indicated he is at least contemplating a return to the sport in which he won the UFC title in just his fourth professional fight.
After defeating Mark Hunt in a unanimous decision at UFC 200 last year, the decision was reversed to a no-decision after Lesnar failed a doping test. He was suspended for one year and fined $250,000 by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Lesnar, who turned 40 on July 12th, officially retired from UFC in February, and was removed from the year-round drug testing pool. Lesnar would need to officially come out of retirement and complete his one-year suspension, in order to compete in UFC again.
Any UFC match involving Lesnar also could not happen until his WWE contract expires next year.
