This is quite possibly the longest comments section I have ever encountered….
False. Socialism is the cure to Earth’s problems. Don’t even listen to that poser DB. On the contrary, capitalism kills society! DB’s an Australian, I see.
@Stonz: Oh, you weren’t around for some of the doozies in the last year or two, then. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for people engaging on whatever topics they want; I just think it would be great if there could be a discussion this lengthy, nuanced and passionate about wrestling on, you know, this wrestling site. Minus the belittling of each other’s intelligence, criticism of each other’s writing styles, and occasional ad hominem attacks, of course…
And yes, I have taken part in the political talk here previously, but I’ve decided that just as I wouldn’t go on a political site to talk about wrestling, a wrestling site isn’t my chosen forum for politics. That’s speaking only for myself – like I said, people can talk about whatever they want, and if the same handful of people (depending on how many sock puppet theories you subscribe to) want to light up the comment section on any article with the barest mention of politics, I’m sure Gerweck will happily continue posting them to drive site traffic and I won’t judge anyone for it. It just isn’t for me. You know what is for me? Wrestling. It’s great. That’s all.
Except for this: maybe there isn’t as much distance between wrestling and politics as we think. In both cases a lot of it is showmanship/theater, the booking can get pretty predictable, and we generally want to see a lot more action but too often it’s just one long backstage segment where everyone is cutting promos on each other.
@DumBass
I’m not even going to try to explain the difference between this and what you always go to, it’ll just ruffle your hair again. Like the fact that it wasn’t about a source (by way, no one – including you – is denying this is true), it was about verbiage.
More fancy words! Good for you. Maybe with time you can evolve into ChatGPT!
But again, what makes socialism so bad? Someone as educated and erudite (and let us not forget handsome and well-endowed) as yourself should have no problem laying it out for us misguided smallfolk in no more than two or three sentences, right? Right??? I mean, it’s not like you’re just mindlessly repeating tired old slogans of your idols without a clue about what they actually mean. It just can’t be that. Right?????
By the way, when you say “Socialism’s bad”, don’t forget to add a “m’kay” at the end.
And what’s your big bias against Australia? Did you catch your mom in bed with a kangaroo when you were a kid? Perhaps your dad? Uncle Jethro, who you were used to seeing with sheep? Or did you forget that boomerang was going to be coming back? Maybe the Sydney Opera reminds you of female breasts, which are so close yet still so unattainable? Would you like to talk about your frustrations?
@What?
You forgot how in both cases the audience is easily manipulated.
@Luke
“As was the SS. There are so many parallels between them it’s not even funny.”
You keep comparing ICE to SS. Big difference between the two is that ICE agents are going after people they believe are not in this country legally., and the SS went after actual citizens they saw as being inferior to their race. Another difference is that no one is mass murdering illegal immigrants. There are no kill centers that they take them to like the SS did with the Jewish people. Illegal immigrants are sent home.
“This is your outlook on life, to which you have every right. I didn’t say you were dividing the country, I said the people exploiting this matter are.”
Both sides are exploiting this matter. Both sides are using this topic for their own benefit. That is American politics.
“That’s why I don’t understand why you support them, when you know they’re not doing this for the greater good but for their own benefit.”
For their own benefit. Illegal immigrants earn a lower wage than legal immigrants. So, are the people fighting to keep them here doing it because they care about them, or are they doing it because of the cheap labor they’ll lose?
“Also, you may want to research how people who try to emigrate to the States legally are treated at your embassies. I don’t think you have all the facts. For many, the illegal route is much less humiliating.”
I don’t know about how people are treated at embassies, but I do know that the process is complex, costly, and there are long wait times. This I believe needs to be fixed. It should be easier to walk through the front door.
Why is my comment the first post on here? What happened to the comments that were before mine?
@Joseph
Both were/are executing the effective law, both were/are abusing their power, both had/have the support and adoration of the country’s ruler, his clique, and his lackeys. The times are different, you don’t mass murder people anymore, but didn’t they want to send them to Salvadorian prisons?
What do you say we see how this plays out and return to this matter a year from now?
Never said the other side is better, that argument doesn’t work on me so this doesn’t answer my question. I’m guessing you’re faithful to your upbringing (correct me if I’m wrong), but the fact of the matter is that the people you believe in are lying to your face about their intentions. As is the other side, but you don’t believe in them, so they’re a non-factor in our conversation.
You’ll always find people desperate enough to work under the radar for less than minimum wage, even citizens. The people fighting to keep them there care about as much about them as the people trying to get rid of them. The people protesting this (at least some of them, likely including Punk) just want to see them treated like human beings. Again, I’m not on the other side. The only side I’d be willing to join is one that genuinely extends its hand to the other and actually tries to make things better for everyone, but that’s not happening. Not now, not ever. Humans are just too stupid to live well.
Sure, it should be easier, but it’s not. But soon enough people won’t want to go to the US either way, the problem will solve itself. Right now people in the US supporting their families in most other countries are sending them about 15% less than they did just six months ago.
The comments are here. If they disappeared for a while, maybe we broke the board…
@Luke
“Both were/are executing the effective law, both were/are abusing their power, both had/have the support and adoration of the country’s ruler, his clique, and his lackeys. The times are different, you don’t mass murder people anymore, but didn’t they want to send them to Salvadorian prisons?”
For the most part, ICE agents are targeting illegal immigrants or people they believe are illegal immigrants. They’re not going after all immigrants and that is the big difference between what is happening now and what happened to the Jewish people. Jewish people were being rounded up simply because they were Jewish and deemed inferior.
“You’ll always find people desperate enough to work under the radar for less than minimum wage, even citizens.”
It’s not about desperation. It’s about exploitation. An illegal immigrant does not have access to certain jobs. Illegal immigrants for the most part cannot or will not speak or learn how to speak English. Because of this, and their status, they are often taken advantage of.
“The people protesting this (at least some of them, likely including Punk) just want to see them treated like human beings.”
I agree that they should be treated better. But that doesn’t mean they should be set free. Detaining someone for committing a crime is not treating someone inhumanely. Abusing your power and treating your detainee wrongfully is inhumane.
“Sure, it should be easier, but it’s not. But soon enough people won’t want to go to the US either way, the problem will solve itself. Right now people in the US supporting their families in most other countries are sending them about 15% less than they did just six months ago.”
In May 2025, the Border Patrol encountered 8,725 illegal aliens crossing the southwest border between ports of entry. This was a 93% decrease from May 2024 when USBP encountered 117,905 aliens. I think that yes, there has been a decrease in immigration to the US, legal immigration has not stopped. Illegal immigration to the US has.
@Joseph
Like I said, let’s get back to ICE and illegal immigration in about a year. I’m sure something will be posted here to remind us. I still hope to one day convince you that political affiliation is not the way to go if you actually want to make the world a better place.
@Luke
Never thought political affiliation is the way to go. Both Democrats and Republicans detain and deport illegal immigrants.
https://www.boundless.com/blog/clinton/
In Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address to Congress, the 42nd president laid out a tough stance towards illegal aliens, claiming that they took jobs from legal residents and cost taxpayers money because of the public services they used. “We are a nation of immigrants,” Clinton said. “But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”
This was a Democrat President saying these things. This isn’t a political issue. This is between those who believe everyone has the right to enter the US regardless of legality vs those who believe you must enter legally. When Clinton was deporting millions of illegal immigrants he was protested.
How is it that the resident Aussie socialist on here is unaware that by using the SS to slander others, they are showing their hypocrisy and ignorance without shame? The SS were under the control of national socialists. You really have to be a special kind of ignoramus, or just plain stupid, to use an ideology so close to one’s own in an attempt to smear others. Even their own country’s government is run by national socialists.
Also, they seem very upset over being outed as an Australian commenting exclusively about the US, lashing out in an attempt to steer attention away from other’s from noticing their modus operandi. They have stated in the past they are not an American, and fail to admit their country of residence. Yet their juvenile writing style is remarkable similar to commentary often found in far left publications in Australia. They must be ashamed of their own nationality.
The world will only be a better place once the natural rights of the individual are restored, and the state becomes a servant of the people than that of a bloated, centralized, socialist overlord.
I thought Australians aren’t Trump supporters. How come DB went to that country in the first place? I’ll believe him if he presents us with his birth certificate. Otherwise, he’s a liar.
@Luke: But are they just being manipulated or are they choosing to allow themselves to be manipulated (suspension of disbelief, confirmation bias, etc.)? Could go either way in both cases. And related, in both cases everyone says they’re sick of the same old thing, but when they actually get to have their voices heard (ratings and elections) they mostly just reaffirm the same old thing.
@What?
Of course they’re choosing, everyone has free will, except most people think free will means listening to other people. It’s easier that way.
The latter is where wrestling and politics differ. If your freezer is broken, buying new ice cream to replace the one that melted won’t fix anything.
@DumBo
Not Australian. I don’t know how to make this clearer for you. I also don’t know why you believe Australians are inferior, why calling someone an Australian is a put down, you Egyptian.
Fail to admit? Wrong, you just weren’t paying attention. Once again, if you want to know, just ask. Then you can at least say stupid things about the right country.
I’m neither proud or ashamed of my nationality (I have two, by the way). Contrary to idiots, I don’t take pride in what I have no say over. Things like that are left best to racists and nationalists.
Natural rights… I’d ask, but you’re a coward who doesn’t answer (or ask) questions, so that’s pointless.
By creating ridiculous arguments on the topic of US politics while still ashamed to mention their own country, or countries, of nationality, shows a lack of credibility on their part. They are ever creating new shifting goalposts, yet frustrated when the more rational on here ignore these only to score goals against their lousy defense. If only there was a mercy rule for the TDS sufferers caught way behind on the scoreboard.
@DB
I don’t think it matters where anyone is from. For all we know @Luke could be from Australia and he’s just playing it off. Or he could be from France or Switzerland. Does it matter where he’s from? Does it matter where any of us are from? I don’t think it does.
@Joseph
I don’t lie in my personal life, lying is a form of self-oppression and I see no reason to oppress myself. If I say I’m not from Australia, I’m not from Australia. (I’d love to be though, it’s a beautiful country and region.) Of course whether you believe me or not is up to you. Not France or Switzerland either, but much closer. Then again, almost everything is closer to anything than Australia…
It matters to the extremely dumb. Just like it matters to them what color people’s skin is or who people are attracted to sexually.
Now the fun part.
@DB
I love you. Not in the may a man loves a woman, not even in the way a man loves a man, definitely not in the way a parent loves a child, not even in the way a wrestling fan loves Bret Hart. I don’t know what I can compare my love to you, but I do know I love you with all my heart.
So let’s rock the stupid again. This time point by point.
“By creating ridiculous arguments on the topic of US politics” – Not about politics, about human decency. Perhaps this concept is strange to you, perhaps that’s why the point continues to escape you.
“while still ashamed to mention their own country, or countries, of nationality” – Again, not true. And again, if you want to know, just ask. It’s not a trap. It’s also not demeaning to ask for knowledge. And again, I’m neither proud or ashamed of my nationality.
“shows a lack of credibility on their part” – Just like you, I’m a nobody on a wrestling board. I don’t think I’m supposed to have credibility.
“yet frustrated” – You make Mario Mendoza look like Lou Gehrig. Stop swinging wildly. Drop the bat. Perhaps take up gardening or something. I have enough frustrations in real life, I don’t get frustrated online.
“when the more rational on here” – So now you’re refusing to praise Joseph by name? What a wonderful human being you must be to have around on a daily basis…
“score goals against their lousy defense” – I don’t think Joseph is trying to score with me.
Kisses. And thoughts and prayers…
@Luke
I don’t believe you are from Australia. I was simply trying to point out that even if you were lying about not being from Australia it wouldn’t really matter because it really doesn’t matter where any of us are from.
@Joseph Of course it doesn’t matter where any of us are from. What matters is recognizing when someone throwing stones from glass houses with shattered windows, acting like their feet aren’t getting cut up by broken glass. Luke has admitted they aren’t an American, but is too ashamed to admit the countries their dual citizenship is listed under. The writing style is most likely Australian, possibly New Zealand. Until Luke comes clean, I’ll go with what is most likely from the written material we have from them.
I have to admit, Victoria and New South Wales in Australia have many wonderful people you can meet. Once you get outside of the capital cities of course. I would avoid Canberra like the plague. The populace there is very similar to Washington D.C. with it’s atrocious attitudes towards people’s rights and freedoms.
False. Victoria and New South Wales are the most racist in Australia. True story.
@Joseph
Nope. But whether we lie or not does matter.
@DB
Just ask.
“The writing style is most likely Australian, possibly New Zealand.” – Yeah, New Zealand’s much closer to France or Switzerland… What’s the point of talking to people when you ignore what they say?
@DB
” Luke has admitted they aren’t an American, but is too ashamed to admit the countries their dual citizenship is listed under.”
Have you asked him?
@Luke
“But whether we lie or not does matter.”
True
@Joseph In a previous article, the discussion came up, but Luke did not respond, simply avoided it by the usual posting of questions. Now they are throwing out random countries “closer”, or not, to where they are citizens of, like some kind of temu version of the Riddler. If they are too ashamed to mention it, that is on them. They can correct me at any time, but won’t. So I’ll stand by my deduction until they say directly otherwise.
I would not be surprised at all if they were a government employee in an Australian capital city.
@DB
“the discussion came up”
This insinuates that you asked. You never did. So now you’ve lied to Joseph (although technically you haven’t).
“throwing out random countries”
The countries Joseph mentioned. By trying to belittle me here, you’re actually belittling Joseph.
“They can correct me at any time, but won’t.”
There we go, finally the truth. “Bastard won’t play MY game, won’t follow MY rules!” But here’s the funniest thing: you avoided all those questions. And others. Ones that were actually asked point blank. Literally dozens of questions. You’re taking hypocrisy to a whole new level here, even for you.
“So I’ll stand by my deduction”
Knock yourself out, no one cares. Other than me of course, I love it when you double down on stupid. Thing is, Joseph doesn’t believe this. So now you’ve insulted his intelligence. Lying, belittling, insulting, not a bad day’s work towards alienating the last person on this website you could have considered an ally…
“if they were a government employee in an Australian capital city”
I’d love to be a government employee in an Australian capital city. Or a smaller one. Or out in the Australian wilderness. Do you know how I can become one? In fact, if you help me become one, I hereby solemnly swear I will never point out your shortcomings again and will glorify you to high heavens.
@Joseph
See what happens when you ask difficult questions?
@Any potential Australians here
I”d love to be Australian.
