News on Jeff Jarrett and Saraya

Dec 17, 2022 - by James Walsh

Jeff Jarrett is AEW’s Director of Business Development focusing on live events, and he’s promised some “cool things” coming early next year for the company. Jarrett weighed in on his work expanding the company’s live event markets on the latest episode of his My World podcast for AdFreeShows and said that some news is coming in the first quarter of 2023.

Discussing AEW’s work expanding their live events to new markets, Jarrett said (per Wrestling Inc) that the company is “plowing the ground, and a lot of cool things coming in Q1 next year.”

He added, “Hopefully we get some announcements out sooner rather than later, but there’s a lot of cool things … The WWE is a 40, 50, 60-year-old company, the lineage goes back three or four generations. AEW, I mean people may or may not take this the right way, but in a lot of ways it’s no longer the embryo, it’s been born, but it’s still in the infant stages. It’s really cool.”

– While speaking to Forbes.com, Saraya commented on the report of Vince McMahon wanting to make a WWE comeback…

“He’s only been out for a couple of months! I feel like WWE’s doing a really great job with Hunter [Triple H] in charge. And I feel like everyone backstage is very happy from what people have been telling me. People across the board are just happy, not saying they won’t be if Vince comes back, but I felt this breather was needed to really shake things up over there and get people excited. But if he comes back, is he going to undo everything Hunter has done? That’s the question, you just don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t work there anymore, so I don’t have to worry about it.”

“I have Tony [Khan], and he’s fantastic as a boss to me, so if I have any issues I can tell him and he’ll always be very clear with stuff. Whereas I just get nervous if Vince comes back for them because you just don’t know what he’s thinking on a a day-to-day basis.”

A while back I compared AEW to the early days of TNA/Impact. I never thought the comparison would go this far.
