Report: Current AEW wrestler’s contract about to expire

Jan 12, 2022 - by James Walsh

A new report has some details on Peter Avalon’s contract status with AEW. Fightful Select reports that Avalon’s contract with the company was set to expire over the next few weeks as of mid-December unless extended or a new deal was signed.

While there is no confirmation as to whether he has signed a new deal — Avalon hasn’t responded to request for confirmation and AEW said they don’t discuss talent contracts — there were internal plans to have him appear at an upcoming AEW Dark taping and he was pulled from a planned appearance at Zicky Dice’s Outlandish Paradise this coming weekend.

Avalon has mostly been on AEW Dark as part of the Wingmen and has appeared on Being the Elite. He has also worked several independent shows, including for UWN, RTB, and MPW.

Oh no. How will AEW survive without one of their marquee stars. And which lucky promotion will win the coming bidding war to secure the services of this generational talent whose best run in AEW was when he was on TV weekly…as part of the COVID “audience.”

He’s a good hand in the ring, even if he’s way too skinny (more like a runner’s build). If AEW could keep him as an enhancement talent he’d fit the role wonderfully.

He’s one of the few guys there that gets tag team wrestling!!! He was teaming with Sean Spears once and they switched positions without a tag, so he slapped his hands together loudly like an old school heel would. The ref clearly wasn’t trained properly because they didn’t even react to the lack of a tag to begin with.

@Rob Dam Van! Shirt Typo!–Such a sad day when we praise tag teams and refs for actually knowing that a tag is needed.
