Update on Elias

Dec 3, 2021 - by Staff

WWE reportedly had no real plans for the Elias teaser vignettes that aired back in the summer.

As noted, multiple vignettes aired on RAW back in August where Elias seemingly killed off his original character, apparently leading up to a re-branding for the former WWE 24/7 Champion. The last vignette aired on August 23, but that was the last we’ve seen of Elias.

In an update, word now is that WWE had no end plan for those vignettes with Elias, according to WrestleVotes. It was noted that WWE just filmed the vignettes to kill off Elias’ “musician” gimmick.

Elias had a re-branding weeks back but it reportedly looked similar to WWE Hall of Famer Randy Savage, with colorful trunks and a beard. WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon and officials close to him reportedly did not like these changes, so now Elias is back to square one as far as the re-branding goes.

Elias has not wrestled since his Symphony of Destruction Match loss to Jaxson Ryker on the July 19 edition of RAW. There is no word on when he will be back, but we will keep you updated.

Stay tuned for more. For those who missed them, you can see the vignettes from August below:

Wait… don’t burn that guitar too quickly. You’re giving up a gimmick that’s allowed you to (slightly) stand out. Unless you come up with something quick, you’ll just get lost and then released. How about a pair of cymbals? Or perhaps a fishing pole? Anything will be better than absolutely nothing, sir.

If Elias gets released will go back to his Indy wrestling name of Heavy Metal Jesus or get a new ringname?

What a surprise, WWE not having a plan further than a week ahead for something, shocking.
This man was given very little and made it work. He could actually play guitar and came up with songs to mock his opponents and especially the towns / cities they went each week to the point he got probably the loudest negative reaction in years if not ever. He has the one thing that’s necessary to be a star, charisma and he was always improving in the ring yet they never gave him any significant feuds to elevate him to that next level.
I’m surprised he hasn’t been released seeing as he was last seen back in August. I think he could be successful in Impact as they are good at feuds and building people’s characters. Best of luck to him.
