10/16/21 AEW Saturday Night Dynamite Recap

The opening credits roll. CM Punk, Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary from Miami, Florida.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Dante Martin (w/Lio Rush) vs. Malakai Black
They lock up and exchange waist-locks. Black goes for a suplex, but Martin lands on his feed and drops Black with an arm-drag. Black comes back with an arm-drag of his own, but Martin counters with a dropkick off the ropes. Black recovers, and they exchange a few moves. My Internet dropped for a few minutes in the middle of the match, my apologies.
Picking back up with my Internet back up, Martin drops Black with a reverse-rana out of the corner. Martin keeps control and delivers an enzuigiri. Black comes back with a Meteora out of the corner, and follows with a roundhouse kick. Black drops Martin with a German suplex and goes for the cover, but Martin kicks out. Black takes Martin up top, but Martin counters and drops him with a super hurricanrana. Martin connects with the double springboard moonsault and goes for the cover, but Black kicks out. Black locks in a single leg crab, but has to let go due to injured ribs. Martin takes advantage and goes up top. Martin dives, but Black dodges him and delivers the spinning heel kick for the pin fall.
Winner: Malakai Black

Tony Schiavone interviews Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, but they are interrupted by The Super Elite. Adam Cole, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks all attack them. Omega and The Bucks power bomb Luchasaurus through a table as Cole locks Jungle Boy in a Camel Clutch and makes him watch.

The Inner Circle comes to the ring. Santana starks talking about American Top Team, but ATT comes to the stage to interrupt him. The crowd boos loudly as Dan Lambert tells them to show some respect. He calls them the Inner Circle-jerk, and Chris Jericho calls him a dipshit. Jericho calls out Paige Vanzant and asks her if she if trying to get a piece of Le Champion and slide into his DMs. He says he wouldn’t touch her with her husband’s genitalia. He makes fun of her Instagram filters and says The Inner Circle is finally reunited tonight. Jericho says they want a ten-man tag, and the Men of the Year can choose whoever they want. Lambert says MOTY have bigger plans that involve championship gold. Lambert insults them all and says only Sammy Guevara can get them what they want since he is the only one with a title. Lambert says if Guevara agrees to their terms, they’ll get the match, but he isn’t giving them the terms until next week. Scorpio Sky brags about pinning Jericho twice and Guevara says he will beat all of their asses all at once and will see them next week.

Match #2 – AAA World Tag Team Championship Match: Los Lucha Bros (Fenix and Pentagon Jr.) (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. Las Super Ranas
Fenix and one of the guys lock up and drop to the mat, but neither man gains the advantage. They exchange wrist-locks now and the guy tries to rip Fenix’s mask off. Fenix comes back and tries to take the guy’s mask off. Penta comes in and they rip the masks off, and the guys are revealed to be FTR. FTR drop Lucha Bros with clotheslines as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, FTR are still in control. They send Fenix and Penta to the entrance ramp, but Lucha Bros come back and Fenix drops them with a springboard dropkick. Penta and Fenix hit a double dive to the groins of FTR and go for a double pin, but FTR kick out. Penta sends Harwood to the floor, and then seeds Wheeler onto him. Lucha Bros dive onto FTR on the floor. Lucha Bros get Harwood back into the ring, but Wheeler interferes. Penta delivers a thrust kick to Wheeler, but Wheeler comes bakc and sends him into the timekeeper’s table. Wheeler tries to hit Fenix with the belt, but Fenix kicks him in the face. Harwood rolls Fenix up with the tights for two, but Fenix kicks him in the face. Fenix delivers more shots and Tully Blanchard rushes the ring. Fenix goes for a moonsault, but Harwood hits him with the title. FTR drop Fenix with a brain buster and Harwood gets the pin fall.
Winners and new AAA World Tag Team Champions: FTR

Tony Schiavone is backstage with Dante Martin and Lio Rush. Rush said what happened tonight was supposed to happen. He says Martin failed due to his own doing, and he knows it. He says if Martin listens to him, he will go to the top. Rush says from this day forward, Martin will have a new tag team partner: Lio Rush.

Tony Schiavone is backstage and scolds FTR and Andrade El Idolo. MJF walks in and hugs them, and Idolo asks if he wants check or cash. MJF says both and Jose hands him an envelope. MJF says just so they’re clear, it’s Idolo and FTR for one night only.

Match #3 – Jon Moxley vs. Wheeler Yuta (w/Orange Cassidy)
Moxley drops Yuta with a clothesline and delivers clubbing shots to his face against the ropes. Moxley slams Yuta to the mat and delivers right hands on the mat. Moxley backs the referee into the corner and drops Yuta with the Paradigm Shift for the pin fall.
Winner: Jon Moxley

Tony Schiavone interviews Serena Deeb. Deeb says it was only a matter of time before she had to drag the Women’s Division up to her level. She says she sat back and watched the division have way too much fun, but Hikaru Shida interrupts and they brawl.

Match #4 – Trios Tag Team Match: Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno, and John Silver) vs. The SuperKliq (Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson) (w/Brandon Cutler and Don Callis)
The SuperKilq attack Dark Order from behind before the bell rings. They toss Silver to the ramp and go for a triple power bomb, but Silver reverses it. Uno delivers a few shots and Reynolds drops The Bucks with a cross-body. Uno and Nick get in the ring and the bell rings. Dark Order triple-teams Nick in the corner and causes Matt to splash onto him. They drop Cole with a triple suplex and a triple low dropkick. Uno slams Nick into the corner and tags in Silver. Silver tosses Nick across the ring, but Cole delivers a kick to Silver’s back. Silver sends Cole and Matt to the floor, and then Nick sends Silver to the apron. Nick delivers an elbow, but Silver comes back with an enzuigiri. Silver drops Cole with a shot on the floor, but Matt takes Silver out with a superkick. Uno gets takes out, as does Reynolds. The SuperKliq drops Reynolds with a double superkick/neck-breaker combination, and Nick gets Silver back into the ring. Matt tags in and The Bucks drop Silver to the mat and connect with a double basement dropkick. Matt goes for the cover, but Silver kicks out. Matt slams Silver into Cole’s boot and tags Cole in. Cole stomps Silver in the corner, but Silver fights back with shots to all of them. Cole drops Silver with a neck-breaker and tags in Matt as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, The Bucks are in control of Silver. Silver comes back with a double suplex and tags in Uno. Uno drops The Bucks with a double clothesline, and then blocks a superkick from Cole and drops him with a neck-breaker. Uno sends Matt to the floor and drops Nick with an elbow. Uno grabs Nick’s sock and locks in a Mandible Claw. Cole drops Uno with a superkick and tags in. Cole locks Uno in the Camel Clutch, but Silver and Reynolds take care of The Bucks and kiss Cole on the cheeks. They send Cole to the floor and take control. They get Cole back in the ring and Cole and Reynolds drop him with a series of moves. Uno drops Cole with Something Evil and Reynolds goes for the cover, but The Bucks break it up. Uno and Silver get sent to the floor and Matt delivers a double dropkick. Matt follows with a dive and Reynolds and Cole exchange shots in the ring. The Bucks come back and deliver a double superkick to Reynolds. Cole drops Reynolds with Panama Sunrise and The Bucks superkick Uno and Silver. The Bucks hit the BTE Trigger on Reynolds and Cole hits Lower the Boom and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The SuperKliq
-After the match, Jungle Boy rushes the ring and attacks Cole. The SuperKliq sends him to the floor, but he grabs a chair. The SuperKliq leaves the ring and Jungle Boy hits Cutler with the chair. Jungle Boy locks Cuter in the Snare Trap as The SuperKliq watches from the ramp.

A vignette with Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes airs. Anderson takes Rhodes to the Nightmare Factory, and the students all insult Rhodes. Anderson puts Rhodes through drills in the ring and the students gain the upper hand during the training. Rhodes asks what’s going on and says he isn’t learning shit, and Anderson shows Rhodes a picture of him and Dusty Rhodes from years ago. Anderson says he had what Dusty did to him coming, and now so does Malakai Black.

MJF makes his way to the ring. He says it’s bad enough that he is in a place like Miami, but now Justin Roberts can’t even introduce him for his match against Darby Allin. MJF does his own ring introduction and wonders where Allin is at. MJF says he broke Allin mentally because he isn’t even in Miami. MJF asks shocked when he “finds out” that Allin was attacked last week. MJF says it is still irresponsible of Allin to not show up tonight, and that is why Allin will always be number two. MJF says he is number one and says he is going to give the people what they want. He calls Wardlow to the ring, and Wardlow brings referee Bryce Remsburg to the ring. MJF tells Remsburg to count to ten and declare him the winner. Remsburg gets to nine, and then the lights go out. Sting gets in the ring and MJF shoves Wardlow toward him. Sting hits Wardlow with the baseball bat as MJF runs from the ring. Sting drops the back, but MJF won’t get back into the ring and leaves through the tunnel.

Tony Schiavone interviews Anna Jay. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. interrupts and says we just saw The SuperKliq beat Jay’s losers in the Dark Order. Jay says they aren’t losers, and Baker says Jay is a loser too, and is nothing without Dark Order and Tay Conti. Jay delivers a shot and they brawl for a bit.

Match #5 – Singles Match: Kiera Hogan vs. Penelope Ford
They exchange quick shots and Hogan backs Ford into the corner. Ford gets free and delivers a shot to Hogan in the corner. Ford goes for a kick, but Hogan dodges it and drops Ford with a neck-breaker. Hogan goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Ford delivers a bulldog into the corner and slams Hogan to the mat. Ford shoves Hogan to the floor as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Hogan superplexes Ford back into the ring. They exchange chops and forearm shots as they get back to their feet. Hogan drops Ford with a few clotheslines and dropkicks her into the corner. Hogan connects with a low dropkick and goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Hogan goes for a neck-breaker, but Ford gets free. Hogan grabs Ford and delivers the neck-breaker and goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Ford comes back with a springboard cutter and locks in the Muta Lock and Hogan taps out.
Winner: Penelope Ford
-After the match, Ruby Soho rushes the ring and attacks Ford. She delivers right hands and throws Ford onto the entrance ramp.

A vignette for Miro airs. Miro says he loves his wife, but he cannot go home like this. He asks if he is not good enough and did not give his God’s name enough praise. He asks if this is some kind of joke, and asks why he has forsaken his champion. Miro says his God will make him his champion again, or he will make him his enemy. He says everyone will know pain until he becomes his God’s favorite champion again.

Tony Schiavone interviews Adam Page. Page says he is excited for Full Gear, just like he was excited for the start of All Elite Wrestling in 2019. Page says it felt like they would change the world, but it seems like the world changed them. He says he told everyone he would be the first AEW World Champion, but he failed. He says after he lost then, it felt like he started to lose a lot more. He says then he started Cowboy Shit, and he started winning more. He says he won the tag titles and started to leave the past in the past. He says Cowboy Shit was having the balls to halt the biggest run of his career to stay at home with his wife and newborn baby. He says Cowboy Shit is when you fall off the horse and keep going, which is what he did when he returned last week and won the Casino Ladder Match. He says he feels like the fans still believe in him, and for the first time in his life he believes in himself. He says he will give everything he has at Full Gear, including Cowboy Shit.

Match #6 – Singles Match: Bobby Fish vs. Bryan Danielson
They lock up and Fish delivers body shots and kicks. Fish applies a side-headlock, but Danielson sends him off the ropes. Fish drops Danielson with a shoulder tackle, and follows with a snapmare. Fish kicks Danielson in the back and goes for the cover, but Danielson kicks out. Danielson comes back and stomps on the back of Fish’s legs. Danielson applies a hammer-lock, but Fish backs him into the corner and kicks him in the midsection. Fish delivers a right hand and takes Danielson to the mat. Fish goes for the cover, but Danielson kicks out. Fish delivers more kicks, but Danielson sends him to the floor. Danielson sends Fish into the barricade with a dive through the ropes. Danielson picks Fish up, but Fish counters with elbow strikes. Danielson slams Fish into the ring post and charges, but Fish trips him up as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Fish is in control in the ring and keeps Danielson grounded. Fish drops Danielson with a sliding lariat and goes for the cover, but Danielson kicks out. Fish locks in a half-crab, but Danielson gets free and locks in an ankle lock. Fish gets free and they exchange kicks. Danielson drops Fish with a dragon-screw leg-whip, and then wraps his leg around the ring post a few times. Danielson delivers right hands and wraps Fish’s leg around the post again. Danielson gets Fish back into the ring and goes for a kick, but Fish counters with a back-drop driver. Fish goes for the cover, but Danielson kicks out. Fish drops Danielson with an avalanche Falcon Arrow and goes for the cover, but Danielson kicks out. Fish immediately locks in a knee bar, but Danielson turns it into one of his own. They exchange kicks to the face and Danielson gains the advantage. Danielson locks in a knee bar and a heel hook and Fish taps out.
Winner: Bryan Danielson

The bracket for the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament is revealed. On the left side, 10 and Jon Moxley will meet in the first round, as will Orange Cassidy and Powerhouse Hobbs. On the right side, Dustin Rhodes and Bryan Danielson will meet in the first round, as will Lance Archer and Eddie Kingston.
