Mick Foley Responds To Zelina Vega’s Match Being Cut From Smackdown

Sep 12, 2021 - by James Walsh

Zelina Vega was originally scheduled to work WWE Smackown last night, teaming with Carmella against Toni Storm and Liv Morgan.

However, the match was cut for time and Vega was reportedly not happy about. This weekend is special to her, as she lost her father on 9/11, and Vega was hoping to debut a new outfit paying tribute to him while wrestling in New York.

In a post on Twitter, Mick Foley reacted to the news.

On any other week, in any other location, there could at least be an argument made why this match would be the one to get cut. But this wasn’t any week or location. That those running the show couldn’t recognize the moment (or, even better, keep things running smoothly enough that everything could get included) is yet another symptom of what Foley was talking about.

She spoke out against the WWE less than a year ago. What do you expect?

Hey they got to have time for needless backstage skits, long winded promos, and countless video re-caps, right?

They have been dumping all over her since she came back. It’s probably not going to change much. Hey, I guess that’s what happens when you talk trash about WWE and then come crawling back. She asked for it…

I get that she’s in the doghouse at the moment. But this also affected three other people, and the significance of the time and place should have been enough for everyone to rise above everything for one night. Have her lose the match, fine. But have the match.
