Possible roster trade for Aliyah and Mandy Rose

Jul 14, 2021 - by Marc Middleton

A possible trade may have went down between the WWE NXT and WWE RAW brands last night.

As noted, Mandy Rose made her return to NXT last night and appeared during two segments. Aliyah later teamed with Jessi Kamea for a loss to Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro. After the match, Aliyah snapped and attacked Robert Stone, blaming him for their losses. It was then indicated that Franky Monet is now in charge of The Robert Stone Brand, which Rose also later commented on during a backstage segment.

In an update, @Wrestlevotes noted this morning that a source has indicated there may have been a trade between brands last night, with RAW trading Rose to NXT for Aliyah.

As of this writing, Rose is still listed as a member of the RAW roster while Aliyah is still a member of the official NXT roster. The trade has not been confirmed as of this writing, but we will keep you updated.

You can click here for full details on last night’s angles and Rose’s return, with photos and videos, along with her post-show comments and signs that she is back with the NXT brand full-time.

Stay tuned for more on the potential trade between NXT and RAW.

I’m Team Put Aliyah and Liv back together.

Ever since they broke Otis and Mandy up, Mandy’s just been spinning her wheels on Raw. Even the current storyline with Natalya and Tamina looks to be running it’s course due to Shotzi and Tegan Nox debuting on Smackdown

I thought you moved up to the main roster when you’ve gotten over. I don’t mean that as a slam. I’ve only been watching NXT (on Hulu which only airs 1 hour of the show) for about a year and haven’t seen her win once or even be in a main/big story line.

@art123guy: She’s been in NXT since 2015 (she was even in that “Breaking Ground” docuseries about the PC everal years ago) and made her TV debut in early 2016. I think this is one of those “it’s now or never” call-ups lol

There’s also the reality that NXT just lost Toni Storm, Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox and needs to fill that space in the women’s division. Gigi Dolin and Cora Jade might get more air time and Sarray’s push might finally start, but that alone won’t cut it. Someone within WWE has clearly been Mandy Rose’s guardian angel since she set foot on Tough Enough, so they’re probably looking at it as a Finn Balor or Ember Moon situation where the person with main roster experience “chooses” to come to NXT to “strengthen the brand.” As for Aliyah, there might be something to aag44’s “now or never” theory, but at this point can she really be taken seriously on a brand that includes Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley, Asuka and possibly soon Becky Lynch? She’s not bad, she just isn’t on that level.

It’s just like baseball. Teams are always on the lookout for that “fringe” vet. Some their best days are clearly behind them, so teams sign them and put them in Triple A to help teach the prospects, or they are players that were too good to leave in Triple A but just not good enough to stick in the majors. In any event, they are there to prep the prospects for the big leagues.
