Dustin Rhodes Reacts To Criticism of Bullrope Match on Social Media

Jun 13, 2021 - by James Walsh

Dustin Rhodes received some backlash on Twitter after asking fans what they thought of his Bullrope Match against Nick Comoroto on the June 4th episode of AEW Dynamite. One fan seemed upset that Rhodes won the match and didn’t put Comoroto over:

“It was unnecessary and you should’ve lost. You have a Billy Jack Haynes, bruiser Brody hybrid, and you have him getting beat in a match he should’ve dominated. If you were as ‘passionate’ as you claim, you should’ve put him over…”

Rhodes responded by telling the fan to go back to his mom’s basement.

“He is a better wrestler after being in the ring. That is why your opinion specifically doesn’t matter. Your mom wants you back in the basement. #BasementDweller

Gotta love it; ask for opinions and then gripe when they’re not all glowing. Like I tell my kid, if you can’t handle the answer, don’t ask the question.

    Sick burn Dustin. Mom’s basement.

Well did he ask for thoughts on it as a fan or as a armchair booker?

Agreed, Motörhead. If he agreed, he would’ve been thanked and blah blah blah.

It’s funny how wrestlers are notorious football fans. But most really haven’t played let’s be honest. A lot have, but most haven’t.
They freely and openly criticize criticize criticize when their favorite team performs poorly, yet have never spent 1 minute on the gridiron. Yet when fans of their sport openly and freely criticize criticize criticize, they want to use the “You’ve Never Done This So Shut Up” card. Or the “Insult Your Customer” card.

This to me isn’t really a criticism of the match. It’s just complaining because Dustin won.

Uhm… smartmarks always say the younger guys should get pushes, should get the wins, they have to build new characters because the old ones won’t be there forever and now it’s not okay for saying that and it’s okay for a wrestler to insult a fan who is just voicing his opinion?

The only reason a guy like Dustin Rhodes is still around and at least a little relevant is because his half brother is one of the VP’s of AEW…
People always complained about Undertaker and OLDberg because WWE gave them time that should be invested in building up younger talents.
And just because it’s an AEW guy, it’s okay if an old guy dominates?

In his age Dustin should be mature enough to be open to critics, but all he does is just “My half brother is one of the VPs and I get my money anyways, so f*** you!”
