CM Punk taunts John Cena for China/Taiwan apology?

May 25, 2021 - by Marc Middleton

Former WWE Champion CM Punk is apparently trolling veteran WWE Superstar John Cena with his new Twitter bio.

As noted earlier, Cena issued a video apology to fans in China after he referred to Taiwan as its own country while doing media for the Fast & Furious 9 movie. The comment brought major backlash from fans in China, including some who weren’t satisfied with Cena’s apology as they want him to state that Taiwan is a part of China. Punk changed his Twitter bio today and wrote, “Taiwan is a country.”

That’s it, there is no other text in the bio. He brought attention to the bio change by making a tweet to let everyone know.

He wrote, “New bio!”

Fans in mainland China were outraged at Cena’s comments as Beijing insists that the self-ruled Taiwan is an indispensable part of the country, not on its own. Universal Pictures previously chose Taiwan for its global premiere of the Fast 9 movie. The movie was released a few days later in mainland China. The movie was directed by Taiwanese-American director Justin Lin.

Punk just mad that Cena was able to leave wwe and have a successful movie career. Punks follow up was to get his a$$ kicked in MMA. Dudes a joke

  2. Sonia says:

Agreed Lukie Punk is nothing more than a jealous individual (I would use stronger words, but lets keep it PG) who has done nothing since his pipe bomb promo. He’s a wash as a MMA fighter (what a joke) and as an actor come on he couldn’t hold a candle to Cena (and he’s no Di Caprio) he’s not even Stallone. Punk is a joke who is trying to remain relevant, which he is not. Just go away.

And still Punk is right. Taiwan is a country.
But the chinese dictatorship doesn’t like it. They rather oppress people and take their rights, just ask people in Tibet or the uyghurs…
The chinese market is big. So if you have no balls and still wanna make more than enough money if it’s more important to you than fighting against a dictatorship, you have to apologize like the five mo… Sorry, I mean six move man (that punch after the AA is ridiculous).

What Punk said has nothing to do with being jealous. Btw if he wants that fame so much, don’t you think he’d already be back in the ring? He’s not… Maybe he will come back in the future (never say “never”. Just think about Lesnar, Bret Hart or Ultimate Warrior, they all said they would never do business with WWE again at some point in their lives.), but right now he has his principles.
    Haters gonna hate.

If both of you don’t stop right now, Punk will block you on Twitter. LOL

  5. Disgruntled Jobber says:

Taiwan is a country and Hans explained it all very well. And seeing the post here from the ill-informed haters is comedy gold.

  6. Romanreignshadcancer2getover says:

CM Punk is the biggest example of what is wrong with wrestling… over hyped by fans and being his own biggest fan. His wife that has a body of a 12 year old boy is the same thing…. awful entitled people.

  7. Luke says:

So apologizing for saying the truth (which was completely irrelevant to the context) under the pressure of money is fine. Calling the person out on it is not, because we don’t like the guy who’s calling him out. We go after him personally and ignore the matter at hand because we’re too stupid to say anything smart about it. Is this pretty much where we are right now?

  8. Kevin says:

Why so angry Romanreignshadcancer2getover? He is just taking a friendly jab. CM Punk is the biggest example of what’s wrong with wrestling? He has been retired for 7 years get over it. (FYI he was one of the best thing in wwe when he was here in ring and on the mic) What does his wife’s body have anything to do with this? Grow up buddy.
