4/28/21 AEW Dynamite Recap
The opening credits roll. Excalibur, Jim Ross, Taz, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida.
Match #1 – Singles Match: Adam Page vs. Brian Cage
Cage attacks Page with the FTW belt on the stage, and then Hook, Ricky Starks, and Powerhouse Hobbs join him on the beat down of Page. Dark Order runs out for the save and evens the numbers. Cage power bombs Page on the entrance ramp and throws him into the ring. The bell rings and Cage stomps Page down in the corner. Cage delivers right hands in the corner, and follows with a chop. Page comes back with a chop, but Cage takes him down with a headbutt. Cage suplexes Page across the ring and drives him into the corner. Cage delivers a few shoulders to the midsection, and follows with a back elbow. Cage suplexes Page across the ring again and goes for the cover, but Page kicks out. Cage tosses Page to the floor and follows, but Page comes back with a few right hands. Cage counters back and throws Page into the barricade a few times. Cage puts Page on the apron and delivers a few chops. Cage slams Page on the floor and tosses him back into the ring. Cage goes for the cover, but Page kicks out. Cage tosses Page with a fall-away slam and goes for the standing moonsault press, but Page gets his knees up.
Cage comes back with a thrust kick and suplexes Page back into the ring from the apron. Cage goes for the cover, but Page kicks out. Cage picks Page up, but Page knees him in the head a few times. Page low-bridges Cage and sends him to the floor. Page goes for a dive, but Cage catches him. Page shoves Cage into the ring post and goes up top. Page connects with the moonsault and gets Cage back into the ring. Page goes for the Buckshot Lariat, but Cage counters and slams him to the mat. Cage goes for the cover, but Page kicks out. Cage delivers a power bomb and then a Buckle Bomb. Cage delivers the Drill Claw and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Brian Cage
Footage of Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley destroying The Elite’s trailer last week is shown. The Elite are then shown in a limousine this week, and Don Callis hypes up all the titles that they have and The Bucks’ match later tonight. Kenny Omega says wherever they go, the gold and the money follow them. Omega says they are not scared of Moxley and Kingston, and then the horn honks and makes them all jump. MT Nakazawa says he pushed the wrong button and apologized. Omega says they will give Kingston and Moxley a fight, but Kingston has to fight Nakazawa first.
Match #2 – AEW World Tag Team Championship Eliminator Match: The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) (w/Don Callis) vs. Matt Sydal and Mike Sydal
My Internet dropped during The Bucks’ entrance, so my apologies for missing the first part of the match.
Back from a commercial, Matt J and Mike are in the ring. Mike makes the tag to Matt S, who drops Matt J to the mat. Matt S goes for the cover, but Matt J kicks out. Matt S and Mike deliver a double knee drop to Matt J and Matt S goes for the cover, but Nick breaks it up. Matt S drops The Bucks with a double hurricanrana and goes for a crucifix pin, but Matt J kicks out. Matt S drops Nick with a hurricanrana, but Matt J drops him down on the top rope. Mike tags back in, but Matt J delivers a low blow to him. The Bucks superkick Matt S to the outside, and then hit the BTE Trigger on Mike and get the pin fall.
Winners: The Young Bucks
-After the match, SCU interrupt The Bucks’ celebration. Frankie Kazarian says we’ve seen a lot of the new Bucks lately. He brings up that he and Christopher Daniels will be done as a tag team if they lose again, and they are the number one contenders. Daniels says the Bucks’ new attitude sucks and says when the Bucks find their balls, they are going to take their titles.
A hype package for Jade Cargill airs. She says she is her own boss and if someone is looking to sign her, they better impress her.
Match #3 – Singles Match: Orange Cassidy (w/Trent?) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes)
Penta stops Cassidy from putting his hands in his pockets, but taunts him with his taunts and throws his glove to Abrahantes. Cassidy throws his sunglasses to Trent, who drops him. Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets and kicks Penta in the shins. Cassidy drops Penta to the mat with a few moves, with his hands still in his pockets. Cassidy gets serious and goes for Beach Break, but Penta counters and delivers a back-breaker. Penta puts Cassidy on his shoulders, but Cassidy gets free and takes him to the mat. Penta bites Cassidy’s fingers, but Cassidy rolls him up with a crucifix pin for two. Cassidy sends Penta to the floor and dives, but Penta catches him and slams him to the floor with one hand as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Penta delivers a kick to Cassidy’s head in the corner. Cassidy comes back with a few shots, but Penta drops him with a Brain Buster. Penta goes for the cover, but Cassidy kicks out. Cassidy comes back and goes for the Orange Punch, but Penta counters with a roll up for two. Penta goes for the arm-breaker, but Cassidy puts his hand in his pocket to block it. Penta delivers more shots, but Cassidy comes back with kicks. Cassidy goes for the Orange Punch, but Penta counters with a super kick. Penta delivers a Destroyer, and goes for a package pile driver, but Cassidy counters with the Beach Break. Cassidy goes for the cover, but Penta gets a shoulder up. Penta delivers shots and beats Cassidy down in the corner. Penta delivers a super kick and picks Cassidy up. Cassidy counters with the Stundog Millionaire, and then drops Penta with two swinging DDTs. Cassidy goes for the cover, but Penta kicks out. Abrahantes gets on the ramp and starts talking, but Cassidy brings him into the ring. Penta delivers a kick to Cassidy and goes for the package pile driver. Cassidy floats over and hits the Orange Punch with a microphone, handed to him by Trent, and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
Tony Schiavone interviews Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. Baker hugs Schiavone and says she never lies. She says she has worked her way up the ranking and is now number one. She says she will see Hikaru Shida sooner rather than later.
Now Schiavone is in the ring for the Parley between The Pinnacle and The Inner Circle. Schiavone goes over the rules for Blood and Guts and says the Parley will decide who gets the one man advantage. He says there will be a coin toss, but Shawn Spears snatches the microphone and says they should be given the advantage because they were dragged into Blood and Guts. Spears insults The Inner Circle, particularly Sammy Guevara. He says Chris Jericho is dragging Guevara into deep water, and he is going to be the one to step on Guevara’s head while he is drowning. Guevara says Spears has been a failure in AEW, and was a failure where he used to be as well. Guevara says he will start the match and The Pinnacle can have the advantage. Cash Wheeler says Santana and Ortiz better not bring their current versions to Blood and Guts, because if they do they won’t make it out. Dax Harwood tells Santana and Ortiz to grab their kids and tell them that daddy isn’t coming back home. Santana says FTR are going to be locked in a cage with them, and his hands will do the talking. MJF says this is a Parley and they should act like gentlemen. MJF says he wants to thank Jericho for making this so easy. He says he and his family are going to replace The Inner Circle at the top. Jericho says it doesn’t work that way, and he has to earn his spot. Jericho says he is proud for being a curtain jerker at 25 years old, but he had also headlines arenas all around the world at 25. Jericho says MJF and his group won’t win at Blood and Guts. Jericho says MJF and his group will not win at Blood and Guts and that the summer of 2021 will be the summer of pain and agony for The Pinnacle. Jericho says summer starts early for The Pinnacle next week.
MT Nakazawa is in the ring, but Eddie Kingston says he is not doing this. He tells Nakazawa to get out of the ring and calls out Kenny Omega. Omega comes out and says they are the ones who are mad at Kingston. Omega says Kingston doesn’t get him, because he has Nakazawa. Nakazawa hits Kingston with the laptop a few times, but Kingston comes back with a few elbow shots. Kingston drops Nakazawa with an exploder suplex, and then delivers the spinning back fist. Kingston wraps Nakazawa’s ankle in a chair, and tells Omega to get in the ring or he will break his ankle. Omega says Nakazawa knew what he signed up for and tells him to go ahead. Omega says they have another goon, and Brandon Cutler comes flying out of the tunnel. Jon Moxley comes out after him and throws Omega into the ring. Moxley chokes Omega out and Kingston wraps the chair around Omega’s ankle. Kingston tells Don Callis to give him a match with Omega, or he will break his ankle. Callis says they can have whatever they want. Kingston tells Moxley to tell Callis what they want. Moxley says they want a tag team match against Omega and Nakazawa and Callis says yes and begs them to let Omega go.
Tony Schiavone interviews Taz. Taz says Brian Cage beat Adam Page, which makes Team Taz number one. Christian Cage walks up and Taz says he is going to have to deal with someone else in Team Taz. Cage says Taz used to be one of the toughest guys in the game, but now all he does is talk a big game. Cage tells Taz that he wishes he could come back, but he can only leach off of Team Taz. Cage tells Taz to send his team one by one, but hopefully they realize they would be better off without him.
Match #4 – Singles Match: Kris Statlander (w/Orange Cassidy) vs. Penelope Ford (w/Kip Sabian)
They exchange shots quickly and Statlander drops Ford with a power slam. Statlander drops Ford with a military press slam, but Ford rolls to the outside and spins Statlander on the apron. Ford delivers a right hand and goes for a knee drop, but Statlander dodges it. They exchange shots on the floor and Statlander puts Ford back into the ring. Ford comes back with a kick to the face, and then connects with a double knee drop on the apron. Ford takes Statlander to the floor and slams her into the barricade as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, they exchange shots in the ring. Statlander drops Ford with a clothesline and delivers a back elbow in the corner. Statlander delivers another, and then knees Ford in the head. Statlander drops Ford with a Blue Thunder Bomb and goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Statlander goes for a knee strike, but Ford dodges it and delivers a German suplex. Ford rams Statlander’s head into the turnbuckle and connects with a flipping neck-breaker. Ford goes for the cover, but Statlander kicks out. Ford goes for the springboard back elbow, but Statlander dodges it and drops Ford with the Solar Eclipse. Statlander goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Statlander delivers forearm shots, but Ford comes back with a kick to the head. Ford goes for the cover, but Statlander kicks out. Sabian tries to get invovled, but Cassidy cuts him off. Statlander delivers the Big Bang Theory on Ford and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Kris Statlander
10 says it would be an honor to bring the TNT title back to the Dark Order, because the title meant so much to Mr. Brodie Lee, and Lee is the reason why 10 is in AEW.
Match #5 – Trios Tag Team Match: The Factory (Aaron Solow, Nick Comoroto, and QT Marshall) (w/Anthony Ogogo) vs. The Nightmare Family (Billy Gunn, Dustin Rhodes, and Lee Johnson)
Everyone brawls around the ring, and then Solow and Gunn get into the ring as the bell rings. Solow kicks Gunn in the midsection and tags in Comoroto. Comoroto delivers a back-breaker to Gunn and goes for the cover, but Gunn kicks out. Comoroto applies a bear hug, but Gunn gets free and tags in Rhodes. Rhodes delivers a few clotheslines, but Comoroto doesn’t fall. Rhodes delivers an uppercut, but Comoroto comes back and drops Rhodes with a back elbow shot as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Marshall and Rhodes are the legal men. Marshall drops Gunn to the floor, but Rhodes drops Marshall with a power slam. Johnson and Solow tag in, and Johnson dropkicks Comoroto to the floor. Johnson drops Solow with a neck-breaker and chops him in the corner. Johnson drops Solow with a Blue Thunder Bomb and goes for the cover, but Comoroto breaks it up. Johnson sends Comoroto to the floor, but Marshall gets involved. Johnson sends Marshall to the floor as tell, and takes out Marshall and Comoroto with a dive. Ogogo delivers a shot to Johnson’s midsection, and then delivers one to Gunn as well. Marshall tags in and gets the pin fall on Johnson.
Winners: The Factory
-After the match, Comoroto drops Rhodes with a shot from a cow bell. Austin and COlten Gunn rush out and deliver shots to Marshall. They beat him down in the ring, and then send him out with a dropkick. Solow and Comoroto come back out and brawl with The Gunn Club, but Marshall goes back to the Nightmare bus. Cody Rhodes comes out of the bus and beats down Marshall. Marshall rakes Cody’s eyes and gets on top of the bus. Cody follows him and they brawl on top of the bus. Rhodes applies the Figure Four on top of the bus and Marshall taps out.
Kip Sabian is backstage and he finds Miro. Miro throws an apple at him and slams him into a door. Miro asks him where he has been and chokes him with a chain. Miro throws Sabian into the lockers a few times and delivers a right hand. Miro tells Sabian it is time to pay his dues and slams his arm in the door. Miro hugs Sabian and tells him that he forgives him.

Match #6 – AEW TNT Championship Match: Darby Allin (w/Sting) vs. 10 (w/Dark Order)
They tie up and 10 backs Allin into the ropes. They break and get face-to-face. They lock up again and 10 backs Allin into the corner and puts him up top. 10 backs away and Allin comes back with a headlock. 10 sends Allin off the ropes and drops him with a shoulder tackle. Allin goes to the apron, but 10 brings him back into the ring. Allin gets free and applies a side headlock. 10 picks Allin up and drops him with a back-breaker. 10 throws Allin into the corners and picks him up. Allin delivers a few kicks and chop blocks 10’s knee. Allin delivers more shots and comes off the ropes, but 10 drops him with a shoudler tackle as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, 10 is still in control. 10 slams Allin to the mat and goes for the cover, but Allin kicks out. Allin comes back with a Stunner and locks in an arm-bar. 10 gets free and goes to the floor, but Allin follows him. 10 slams Allin into the barricade and the ring apron. 10 tosses Allin back into the ring and looks at Sting. Allin grabs 10’s hand and grinds it into the turnbukle with his boot. Allin sends 10 to the floor, and then dives into 10 and Alan Angels. Sting walks over and backs the rest of the Dark Order away. Sting backs the Dark Order around the ring, but Ethan Page runs out and slams Allin into the ring post. Sting comes back around the ring as Page leaves. 10 looks conflicted, but then he wheelbarrow slams Allin to the mat. 10 goes for the cover, but Allin kicks out. Allin rips at 10’s mask and delivers a few slaps. ALlin goes for the Coffin Drop, but 10 catches him and locks in the Full Nelson. Allin kicks off the ropes and lands on 10 and keeps him down for the three count.
Winner and still AEW TNT Champion: Darby Allin
-After the match, Sting gets in the ring with Allin, but 10 helps Allin to his feet. Allin takes 10’s Brodie arm band and holds it up. They shake hands and the Dark Order leaves. Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky rush the ring and beats down Allin and Sting. Lance Archer and 10 rush to the ring and chase Page and Sky off as the show comes to a close.
