Stephanie McMahon Comments On Jon Moxley Leaving WWE

Apr 9, 2021 - by Steve Gerweck

Stephanie McMahon recently joined the Bill Simmons Podcast where she talked about Jon Moxley leaving WWE, and how his departure was different from talents who used to jump ship during the Monday Night Wars.

“In his particular case, he was leaving anyway, and I do believe that was a mutual decision. Though, I wasn’t a part of those conversations. His case is a little bit different, but I remember back when it was WCW and the Monday Night Wars and our talent were getting stripped away and showing up on their show. I think it taught us a lot about business. Handshake deals don’t necessarily matter at the end of the day. You need to have contracts. You need to do business differently.

“I think those were some of the key learnings from that time. From this time, we’ll see where it all shakes out, but yes, we’re constantly talking about how we can be better and what we can do better because we always want to be the best company that we can be for our fans, for our shareholders, for employees [and] for our talent. We want to be the best.”

Contacts that are so one-sided in benefiting the company 99.5% of the time over the talent. And with the E’s ratings at an all time low….and I know television viewing habbits have changed and companies and networks dont live and die based on nielsons anymore….but I am a lifelong wrestling fan…the first TV I can recall are Andre VS Hogan’s THE MAIN EVENT to set up Mania IV and the Clash that featured 1/3 of the Flair/Steamboat/NWA Title trilogy….and I didn’t miss a Monday during the wars….I haven’t watched the WWE in over 10 years. So they have lost fans and StepOnMe McMahon plays a key role in that. She’s got an arrogance and smugness she might have inherited from her father but in Vince it’s easy to overlook. His daughter saying anything negative about Moxley is laughable and downright disgusting….and for the record I’m no Jon Moxley fan. Her true wakeup call comes the day Vince either closes his eyes and simply never opens them again or the day his health becomes the priority vs the company. I’d love to see the almighty Vince McMahon live forever on one hand….but on the other I believe he’s earned himself some rest. As for Stephanie Mcmahon ….well those infamous words of Chris Jericho, in my opinion, still ring true.
