During a recent interview Trey Miguel explained why he turned down WWE and stayed with Impact Wrestling

“Impact affords me the luxury of staying home, which is super-duper important to me. We have a wrestling school here and I’m one of the head trainers there. I’m there every single day. I’m so close to the kids that we have there, and the other trainers. I have a lot of family here and wrestling has my heart more than anything in the world.”

Miguel previously revealed that his nephew’s birth played a huge part in his decision to turn WWE down. He’s been though a lot in his personal life as well. In the end, he admitted that “I couldn’t imagine moving to f*cking Orlando, Florida” so soon after his nephew’s birth.”

Good for him…. I’d heard Adam Pearce was actually Wrestling as part of an angle on raw and so for the 1st time in about 10 years I watched a bit of WWE. It’s not as bad as I’d remembered BUT I’ve been an avid supporter of IMPACT from day one….and through highs and lows IMPACT WRESTLING is closer to the wrestling I grew up on and love. And I think Trey Miguel has the potential to be a REALLY BIG STAR. Let’s see him headline and main event in Impact, have a run in top with the strap and see what happens in 3 years. He’s a young guy and with exposure in Impact along with potentially AEW and even now NJPW he could debut in the 2025 Royal Rumble as a BIG TIME SUPERSTAR. I think he made a wise decision.

Impact clearly favored him for the breakout star so it most certainly could work to his benefit to be a bigger fish in the small pond for several more years before risking going to WWE where it’s fair to say a lot of people are lost in the shuffle.

Mind you, it doesn’t sound like he burned a bridge in doing so. Which is realistically the smartest move he could have and hopefully did make.
