Vince McMahon reportedly not interesting in Sting vs. Undertaker

Dec 4, 2020 - by Steve Gerweck

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Sting had interest in a match against The Undertaker. For whatever reason, Vince McMahon wasn’t interested in presenting that match and passed on it …

“Still it is known Sting wanted to do a Cinematic match with Undertaker, and for whatever reason, while fans have clamored for Undertaker vs. Sting for years, it has never been a match that appealed to McMahon”

“I don’t give a damn what the fans think cause, quite frankly, I know what the fans want better than they do.”

@Jay–You left off the rest of the quote. “And they want RETRIBUTION!”

  3. Joseph says:

I’m not interested in this match. I don’t see any ending that would be good.

I’m not defending Vince, but why would anyone actually believe this? If this match were to happen, Undertaker would certainly beat Sting. Because why would Sting beat Undertaker in WWE? And, why wouldn’t Vince want that? Wouldn’t that support the “Vince wants to bury WCW and remind us he won the war” narrative? Just more nonsense from Meltzer.

Anyone remember Sting vs. HHH? That’s why we shouldn’t see it.

Should’ve happened 20 years ago and never did. The Sting/Triple H match would’ve been halfway decent if it’d happened five or ten years earlier. Move on already. Everyone else has.

Like Flair versus Hogan in 1992…

The only reason why anyone would want to see this match is for the pageantry of seeing Crow Sting take on the urn-worshiping Undertaker. If you were to take those gimmicks away and imagine pre-Crow Sting taking on “big-dog in his yard, American bad-ass” Taker, then no one would be interested… But that doesn’t mean they couldn’t have a good match. Just people gotta curb their expectations of these two guy’s styles clashing with one another.
