11/11/20 AEW Dynamite Recap

The show opens with a thanks to the Veterans on Veterans Day, and then a new opening video rolls as Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida.

Taz cuts a promo. He says we are about to witness Brian Cage in action, and calls out the new AEW TNT Champion, Darby Allin, who is watching from the stands. Taz tells Allin to keep his ass in the chair and to not get anywhere near the ring. Taz tells Allin to tell Cody Rhodes the same thing, because if they cross paths with Team Taz, they will get beat down. Taz then joins the commentary team.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Brian Cage (w/Ricky Starks) vs. Matt Sydal
Sydal connects with an enzuiguri that sends Cage down in the corner. Sydal delivers a dropkick, but Cage comes back with a few short-arm clotheslines in the corner. Cage sends Sydal into the corner with an Irish Whip and delivers a few chops. Cage tosses Sydal across the ring and delivers a back-breaker. Cage whips Sydal into the corner again and goes for the cover, but Sydal kicks out. Cage sends Sydal to the corner, but Sydal leapfrogs and delivers a dropkick. Cage comes right back and drops Sydal with a clothesline. Cage curls Sydal a few times and tosses him to the mat. Cage goes for the cover, but Sydal kicks out again. Sydal comes back with a few chops and kicks, but Cage sends him to the corner and delivers a clothesline. Cage follows with an elbow and a kick and tosses Sydal, but Sydal lands on his feet. Cage comes off the ropes, but Sydal counters with a power bomb. Sydal goes to the ropes, but Cage dodges him. Sydal delivers a few kicks and takes Cage down with a swinging neck-breaker. Sydal goes for the cover, but Cage kicks out. Sydal connects with a few more kicks, but Cage comes back with a clothesline.
Cage picks Sydal up, but Sydal rolls through and gets a two count. Sydal goes up top and dives, but Cage catches him and slams him with a Drill Claw and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Brian Cage
-After the match, Starks cuts a promo. He says they get stuff done, and they are now ranked. He says the next step is the TNT Championship, and he doesn’t care who is in their way. He says they will put them in their graves, and the revolution will be televised.

Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring. Rhodes congratulates Allin for his win at Full Gear and says he will not be seeking a rematch at this time. Rhodes says there is another loss on his record that he wants to vindicate, and that is against MJF. A woman gets into the ring and takes the microphone from him. Rhodes asks if he can help her, and she says she doesn’t know, can he? She says Rhodes is lying and says her name is Jade Cargill. She says she has been sitting on the sideline studying her competition and studying Rhodes. She says Rhodes called himself the “giant killer,” but there is nothing giant about him. She says she knows a real giant, and Rhodes saying that is loud enough to wake him. She says next time Rhodes wants to talk, he needs to keep his shit quiet. She leaves the ring and congratulates him on getting his name back. She says he didn’t have the balls to go by one name, and says they giant’s name is Shaq. Brandi Rhodes comes out and chastises Jade for her action. She tells her to never talk to Rhodes like that again, and tells her to get off the stage and never come back unless she tells her to. Brandi turns to leave, but Jade shoves her. Jerry Lynn runs out and separates them. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks rush the ring and attack Rhodes as Taz is on the stage, but Darby Allin hits the ring and drops Starks with the Coffin Drop while wearing a thumbtack jacket. Rhodes sends Cage into the corner and Allin connects with a splash with the jacket. Will Hobbs comes to the ring to even the numbers as Rhodes stares down Taz.

Highlights of the Adam Page vs. Kenny Omega match from this past Saturday’s Full Gear are shown. Omega won to become the number one contender for the AEW World Championship.

Alex Marvez interviews the AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley. Moxley says he went through more pain at Full Gear than he ever has in his life. He says the championship represents a lot of people, and he will never quit, no matter what challenge lies ahead. He says he has danced with Omega before, and he won. Moxley says beating Omega again takes someone special, and he is special. He says one day, someone will shut his lights off, and it might be Omega, and he wishes Omega good luck. The title match will take place on Wednesday, December 2nd.

Match #2 – Tag Team Bunkhouse Match: The Butcher and The Blade (w/The Bunny) vs. The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall)
Marshall and Rhodes attack as the bell rings. Marshall and Blade are in the ring, as Rhodes and Butcher are on the floor. Blade hits Marshall with a belt as Rhodes delivers Final Reckoning to Butcher on a chair. Rhodes pulls Blade to the floor and takes him down as Marshall joins in. Rhodes and Marshall set up a table, but Blade hits Marshall with a guitar. Blade and Rhodes exchange shots as Blade gets back into the ring. Rhodes grabs a cowbell and a bullrope. He wraps them around Blade’s neck, but Butcher comes in and drops Rhodes with a shoulder tackle. Marshall has been busted open, and Blade gets a ladder in the ring. Bunny handcuffs Rhodes to the ropes as Butcher and Blade stay in control heading into the commercial break.
Back from the break, Butcher and Blade are still in control. They beat down Rhodes, now free from the handcuffs, and Marshall on the outside and get back into the ring. Rhodes comes back and drops them with a few shots and a double clothesline. Rhodes hits Butcher and Blade with the ladder, but Butcher comes back with a few shots with a belt. Rhodes hits Butcher with a kendo stick, and Marshall sprays a fire extinguisher in Butcher’s face. Rhodes takes Butcher through a plywood platform with a bulldog. Blade has been busted open, and Marshall drops him with shots in the ring. Marshall sets up the ladder and climbs. Marshall delivers an elbow from the top and goes for the cover, but Blade kicks out. Butcher comes back and takes Marshall down, but Rhodes drops Butcher with a right hand. Rhodes drops Blade with a running power slam and hits the Code Red on Butcher. Blade delivers a shot with a chain to Rhodes’ throat. Bunny slides a few chairs in the ring and Blade sets them up. Butcher and Blade deliver Full Death through the chairs and Blade goes for the cover, but Marshall breaks it up with a trash can lid.
Butcher goes for a shot with a chain on Marshall, but Marshall drops him with a Diamond Cutter. Blade delivers a low blow to Marshall and tries to hit him with a chair, but Marshall dodges and Blade almost hits Bunny. Marshall knocks Blade into Bunny, who falls through the table. Marshall delivers the Diamond Cutter to Blade and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Natural Nightmares

A promo from Matt Hardy airs. He says he has never been involved in a feud as personal as the one with Sammy Guevara. He says he came into the feud with no respect for Guevara, but that is not the case now. He says Guevara will be a bigger star because of the feud and tells him not to squander what he has given him.

Chris Jericho comes to the ring to induct MJF and Wardlow into The Inner Circle. He brings out the original members of the group, Santana, Ortiz, and Jake Hager. He is confused on where Sammy Guevara is, but moves on. He then introduces MJF and Wardlow. MJF says it has been a long and hard road to get here, and he has been in the industry for five long years. He says he only got a $1 million loan from his father, but he somehow made it work. He says he wrote a poem for everyone, but it’s a Drake song. Ortiz interrupts and says MJF doesn’t belong in the group. Jericho says MJF beat him and belongs and says the group will be stronger than ever. Jericho says they will make it work and MJF says he doesn’t even know who Drake is. MJF says they are also here to celebrate Jericho’s birthday. MJF says next week, they are going to Las Vegas and sings Happy Birthday to Jericho.

Highlights from the FTR vs. The Young Bucks match from this past Saturday’s Full Gear are shown. The Young Bucks won to become the new AEW World Tag Team Champions. Alex Marvez interviews The Bucks backstage and asks them what’s next. Nick says they went through hell and achieved the biggest accomplishment of their careers. Matt says they are looking for fresh opponents, and that brings them to an Instagram video he got a few months ago featuring a team called Top Flight. Matt says Top Flight will get a chance to prove themselves next week on Dynamite.

Match #3 – Singles Match: Scorpio Sky vs. Shawn Spears (w/Tully Blanchard)
They lock up and Sky delivers an elbow strike. Spears comes back with a shoulder tackle, but Sky comes back with a cross chop to the throat. Spears takes Sky to the corner and they exchange chops. Spears sends Sky to the corner, but Sky comes back with a kick and they go to the floor. They exchange shots and Sky bites the ear of Spears. Sky drops Spears with a clothesline and rolls him back into the ring. Sky goes up top, but Spears tosses him down to the ring as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Sky plants Spears to the mat and goes for the cover, but Spears kicks out. Sky goes up top, but Spears goes after him. Sky drops to the floor and pulls Spears out of the ring. Spears comes off the steps, but Spears meets him with a kick. Spears drops Sky back-first on the steps and tosses him back into the ring. Spears goes for the C-4, but Sky counters and goes for the TKO. Spears gets free, but Sky locks him in the Scorpio Deathlock. Spears makes it to the ropes and Blanchard slips the steel slug to Spears. He throws another one to Sky, but Sky tosses it out of the ring and Spears hits Sky with the loaded glove and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Shawn Spears

Dasha is backstage and she says she was with Kenny Omega, but he ran off before their interview.

Alex Marvez chases Kenny Omega, who is outside of the arena. Omega says Moxley holds something that he wants and needs. He says Moxley has taken the magazine covers and the position of the number one wrestler. He says he is ready to reassume that role and he will do that on the biggest Dynamite ever on December 2nd. Omega says he could never find any record of them going one-on-one in a real wrestling match. He says it seems like Moxley is ready, and he is definitely ready for Moxley.

Match #4 – Singles Match: Red Velvet (w/Brandi Rhodes) vs. Tay Conti (w/Anna Jay)
They lock up and Conti backs Velvet into the corner. They have a clean break and Velvet takes Conti to the mat. Velvet goes for an ankle lock, but Conti gets free. Velvet drops her with an arm-drag, but Velvet comes back with a leg lariat. Velvet goes for the cover, but Conti kicks out. Velvet chokes Conti with her boot in the corner, but Conti comes back and shoves her away. Conti drops Velvet with a few judo tosses and kicks her in the back of the head. Conti goes for the cover, but Velvet kicks out as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Velvet drops Conti with a few clotheslines and then a back elbow. Velvet connects with a bulldog and sends her into the ropes. Velvet delivers double knees and then a running knee in the corner. Velvet drops Conti with a Stunner and goes for the cover, but Conti kicks out. Conti comes back and they connects with simultaneous kicks. Jay slides Conti a chair, but Conti slides is back out of the ring. Velvet drops Conti with a leg lariat and goes for the cover, but Conti kicks out. Velvet goes for a kick, but Conti dodges it and hits a pump kick to Velvet’s face. Conti delivers a knee strike and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Tay Conti
-After the match, Conti celebrates with Jay as other members of the Dark Order watch from the tunnel.

Alex Marvez is backstage with The Inner Circle. Jericho talks about their trip to Las Vegas, but Sammy Guevara walks up. He says he got the email about going to the beach and gets mad. MJF says he sent another one, but Guevara says he only got one. Jericho tells Guevara to calm down, and MJF hands Guevara his ticket to Vegas.

Footage of the confrontation between Orange Cassidy and Kip Sabian from Full Gear is shown. They will go one-on-one next week.

Also next week, The Young Bucks vs. Top Flight, Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks, and The Inner Circle’s adventures in Las Vegas will air.

Eddie Kingston comes to the stage. He says Moxley made him say, “I Quit,” but he will never quit and will become the AEW World Champion one day.

Match #5 – Singles Match: Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Rey Fenix
They come out with strikes and take each other to the mat. They go for clotheslines and Fenix gets a roll-up for two. Penta comes back with a roll-up for two of his own, but Fenix drops him with a head scissors take down. Penta goes to the floor, but gets back into the ring and sends Fenix to the floor. Fenix comes back and drops Penta to the mat. Fenix comes off the ropes, but Penta catches him and locks in a standing submission. Fenix gets free, but Penta grabs his mask and begins tearing it. Penta applies a headlock and chokes Fenix over the ropes. Penta delivers a superkick and applies a rear chin-lock as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Penta goes for the package pile-driver, but Fenix escapes and gets a roll-up for two. Fenix kicks Penta in the face and sends him to the corner. Fenix connects with another kick to the head, and then another from the stage. Fenix drops Penta with a springboard take down and goes for the cover, but Penta kicks out. Fenix rips the mask of Penta and they exchange shots. They deliver headbutts and exchange chops. Penta drops Fenix with a front flip DDT and goes for the cover, but Fenix kicks out. Fenix comes back and sends Penta to the floor and takes him out with a dive. Fenix gets Penta back into the ring and drops him to the mat again. Fenix goes for the cover, but Penta kicks out. Fenix picks Penta up, but they go to the apron. Penta delivers a kick to the midsection, and then a superkick. Penta delivers the package pile-driver on the apron and then slams him on the floor. Penta rolls Fenix back into the ring and delivers another package pile driver and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Penta El Zero Miedo
-After the match, Kingston gets in the ring and says Penta showed everyone who’s the boss. Kingston says Penta doesn’t need his brother, but PAC returns and enters the ring. PAC says Kingston has made a very big mistake and goes after Kingston. Referees rush out and get in between PAC and Kingston. It is announced that PAC will take on The Blade next week. Penta and Fenix argue on the outside as PAC and Kingston still have to be separated in the ring.
