Dragon Lee Sent Home from Japan During Quarantine

Nov 10, 2020 - by Steve Gerweck

According to a report by Joe Lanza and Rich Kraetsch on Voices of Wrestling (via Fightful), ROH TV champion Dragon Lee (aka Ryu Lee) went home during the middle of a quarantine in Japan. It’s currently unknown why he left Japan and abandoned the quarantine, but the Fightful report noted he was “sent home.”

In December 2019, it was reported that Lee had signed a one-year contract with NJPW. Lee was in Japan before NJPW announced this year’s competitors for the Best of the Super Juniors 26 tournament, which Lee tweeted about last month. Lee was not on the list of announced participants for this year’s tournament. The source on the rumor of Lee leaving Japan was an NJPW wrestler who knows Lee.

It was also reported earlier this month that Dragon Lee was expected to be back in action at the next set of ROH TV tapings. Lee has been out of action since the pandemic shutdowns started. He last worked at ROH Gateway to Honor 2020 in February with a match against Dak Draper.
