Vince McMahon threatens talent over Twitch, Mick Foley responds

Sep 4, 2020 - by Steve Gerweck

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports WWE is asking their talent to cease third party agreements.

Many on the main roster who Sapp got in contact with hadn’t even heard of the news and had only glanced over a letter, while others were livid about the request. One top name wasn’t upset, saying that “Cameo definitely cuts into the virtual meet and greet market.”
Another longtime star said “WWE is setting themselves up for a rough situation, as this is a foggy area with their classification as independent contractors.”

Word is Vince McMahon was upset about sensitive information leaking during streams.

Vince doesn’t want any of his wrestlers making any extra money because then those wrestlers won’t have to beg Vince for their jobs in fear. Easy.

I am not sure how I feel about this, but I can see why Vince might not like this. Face vs Heel (so to speak – of course anti-heels, etc. exist) booking can already lead to different amounts of merchandise sales. This could likely be the same regarding YouTube views, Cameo orders, etc. So, Vince may fear further demands by talents to decide how they are portrayed in the company or talent portraying themselves differently on WWE tv and in their own ventures. Well, that’s my guess anyway. Doesn’t mean that it’s ok to stop the talent.

But will that affect Xavier Woods and UUDD? I would think it wouldn’t, but who knows? Vince doesn’t want anyone getting money on their own without his help. Don’t know why anyone (that’s been paying attention for..forever) is surprised.
