7/22/20 AEW Dynamite Recap

The opening credits roll. Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida.

Match #1 – AEW TNT Championship – No Disqualification Match: Cody (c) (w/Arn Anderson) vs. Eddie Kingston
Kingston attacks Cody immediately and takes him to the floor. Kingston delivers more shots, but Cody fights back with shots of his own. Cody tosses Kingston back into the ring, but Kingston comes back with chops in the corner. Kingston goes for a backfist, but Cody ducks and delivers a Disaster Kick. Kingston goes to the floor, but Cody takes him out with a dive. Cody delivers a right hand and tosses Kingston back into the ring. Cody delivers a missile dropkick, and Kingston rolls to the floor. Cody takes off his weight belt and goes to the floor, but Kingston kicks him in the midsection. Kingston hits Cody with the weight belt a few times and pulls up the ringside padding. Cody comes back and back-drops Kingston onto the concrete. Cody gets Kingston back into the ring, but Kingston counters with shots. Kingston drops Cody with a back suplex and delivers shots in the corner. Cody counters with shots of his own, but Kingston takes Cody down and kicks him in the face. Kingston delivers more shots to the back and then beats Cody against the ropes. Cody comes back with a kick to the knee, but Kingston drops him with a clothesline.
Kingston applies a submission, but Cody punches him in the face to get free. Kingston takes Cody down again and kicks him in the back. Kingston applies a dragon sleeper, but Cody fights out and delivers shots. Kingston pokes Cody in the eye, but Cody comes back with a chop block to the knee. Cody slams Kingston into the corner and goes to send him across the ring, but Kingston falls down due to his knee. Cody walks over, but Kingston delivers a low-blow. Kingston drops Cody with a DDT and grabs a bag from under the ring. He empties thousands of thumbtacks into the ring. Kingston clubs Cody across the back and chops him in the corner. Kingston goes to slam Cody on the tacks, but Cody counters with a dropkick. They counter each other over the tacks, and then Kingston gains the advantage and powerbombs Cody onto the tacks. Kingston delivers a back drop suplex, but Cody comes right back with a shot of his own. Cody goes for the Figure Four, but Kingston counters with slaps to the face. Cody comes back with slaps of his own and locks in the Figure Four and Kingston taps out.

Jon Moxley is somewhere in the arena. He says he prides himself on keeping it real, just like when he told Taz that he was going to try to rip Brian Cage’s arm off. He says Cage was close to six months off before Taz threw the towel in. He says, next time, he isn’t going to let go.

MJF cuts a promo before his match. He calls Garrison “Jungle Man” and then says he looks like he can’t even graduate from finger painting class. He asks Garrison how it feels to be in the ring against someone who is undefeated, and Garrison says that he lost a tag team match at Fyter Fest.

Match #2 – Singles Match: MJF (w/Wardlow) vs. Griff Garrison
MJF attacks Garrison with a microphone and then beats him down in the corner. MJF stomps on Garrison and suplexes him across the ring as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, MJF slams Garrison into the stage wall. MJF grabs a mic and says they got off on the wrong foot. MJF says Garrison said something that really upset him. MJF says he has never been pinned or submitted, so that makes him undefeated. He tells Garrison to tell everyone he is undefeated, but Garrison knocks the mic away. MJF attacks him, stomps on his head, and slaps him across the face. He yells at Garrison to say he is undefeated, and Garrison does. Garrison knocks the mic into MJF’s face and rolls him up for two. MJF delivers a clothesline and delivers more shots. MJF drops him with the Heat Seeker and gets the pin fall.
Winner: MJF

Tony Schiavone interviews Rebel about Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.’s surgery on her face. Before Rebel can answer, Baker calls her Reba and tells her to come into the locker room. Baker says while she was taking the take to be a role model, her nose was targeted by Big Swole. She says rule number four for being a role model is to never count out a role model. She says she is due for the biggest comeback ever and compares herself to Michael Jordan. Schiavone and Rebel interrupt, but she yells at them and starts over. SHe says not to count her out, particularly at All Out.

Taz comes to the ring with the FTW Champion, Brian Cage. Taz says he and Cage had a difficult week with a lot of heated arguments. He says Cage almost fired him, but cooler heads prevailed. Taz says he explained to Cage why he threw in the towel, and that it was a business decision. He says he was not going to have Cage’s bicep torn a second time. Taz says Cage will never be in that position again, and Cage will never tap out. He says there is a reason that Cage is the FTW Champion, but Darby Allin interrupts. Ricky Starks jumps Allin from behind and beats him down. Cage joins the attack and powerbombs Allin on the stage. Cage powerbombs Allin into the ring , and then Starks slams Allin to the mat. Cage gets the skateboard as Starks holds Allin, but Moxley comes to the ring with a barbed wire bat. Taz, Cage, and Starks leaves the ring as Moxley gets into it.

A video hype package for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Tournament is shown. Eight teams will compete in the tournament, which is called The Deadly Draw.

Alex Marvez interviews The Inner Circle backstage. Chris Jericho says he is going to embarrass Orange Cassidy. He says before that, they are going to embarrass Jurassic Express tonight. He asks if his jacket still smells like orange juice, and Santana says yeah. Jericho gets pissed and walks away.

Match #3 – Tag Team Falls Count Anywhere Match: The Butcher and The Blade vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
The Bucks finds Butcher and Blade in the kitchen of the arena. They begin to brawl and Butcher and Blade take control. They send Matt away and then power bomb Nick on the table. Blade goes for the cover, but Nick kicks out. Matt comes back and delivers right hands to Butcher, but Blade kicks Matt in the midsection. They slam Matt on the table and Blade goes for the cover, but Matt kicks out. Butcher and Blade bring the Bucks to the concourse area and slam them into a concrete pillar. Blade gets on a cart and Butcher pushes it toward the Bucks, but they move and Blade crashes into the pillar. Nick hits Butcher with a cooking sheet as Blade and Matt brawl elsewhere. Butcher slams Nick into a trailer and then throw Matt into the back of it. Butcher slams Nick into the door of the trailer, but Matt runs out of the trailer and takes out Butcher and Blade with a dive. The Bucks grab Blade and slam him into the concession stand counter, then they go after Butcher. Nick hits Butcher with another cooking sheet and lay him on a table. Matt connects with a senton with the cooking sheet that sends Butcher to the floor. The Bucks double superkick Blade, and he falls onto an escalator that takes him to the second level as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, The Bucks have brought Butcher to ringside. They double team him on the floor, but Butcher fights back. Blade shows up with a chair and he and Butcher take control. They lean a table against the barricade and try to send Matt through it, but Matt fights back. Matt takes out Blade, and then Nick comes back and takes out Butcher. The Bucks try to suplex Butcher through a table, but he counters and suplexes them to the floor. He beats Nick against the table and Blade goes for a dive, but Nick moves and Blade hits the table. Butcher drives Matt through another table with a cross-body. Butcher tosses Matt into the ring and goes for a slam, but Matt counters and sends Butcher into the ropes. Nick delivers a shot to Butcher and then The Bucks double-team Butcher in the corner. Nick goes for the cover, but Butcher kicks out. The Bucks apply a Sharpshooter/Crossface combo, but Blade comes into the ring and breaks it up. Butcher and Blade drop Nick with a powerbomb/neck-breaker combo on the stage. Butcher and Blade grab tables from the tunnels, but Nick takes Butcher down.
Matt goes after Blade and The Bucks set up the tables. Butcher and Blade fight back and go for suplexes, but The Bucks slam them into each other. The Bucks deliver superkicks to Blade and then to Butcher. They connect with the BTE Trigger on Blade and lay him on the table. They deliver another superkick to Butcher and lay him on the table. The Bucks climb up the stage structure, and then dive off and send Butcher and Blade through the tables and get the pin fall.
Winners: The Young Bucks

Alex Marvez stops Lance Archer and Jake Roberts backstage. He asks why they weren’t at Fight for the Fallen last week. Archer drags Marvez into the locker room and beats down everyone inside of it. Roberts says they are pissed and sooner or later someone in AEW is going to take notice. ]

Match #4 – Singles Match: Diamante vs. Ivelisse
Ivelisse delivers a forearm shot and sends Diamante to the corner. Ivelisse delivers more shots, but Diamante turns it around and delivers shots of her own. Diamante drops Ivelisse with an arm-drag, but Ivelisse does the same to Diamante. They continue to brawl, and then an insert from Big Swole airs. She says there will be consequences for Britt Baker’s actions, and sooner or later they will meet in the ring.
Back to the match, Ivelisse is in control and delivers shots in the corner. Diamante kicks her away and then connects with a dropkick. Ivelisse rolls to the floor, but Diamante follows her. Diamante slams Ivelisse into the barricade and chops her against the apron. Ivelisse fights back, but Diamante slams her into the apron. Diamante delivers more shots and rolls Ivelisse back into the ring. Ivelisse fights back on the apron and kicks Diamante into the ring. Ivelisse goes for the cover, but Diamante kicks out. Ivelisse kicks Diamante in the back and applies a rear chin-lock. Ivelisse grinds her forearm in Diamante’s face, but Diamante fights back. Diamante applies a headlock, but Ivelisse counters with body shots. They exchange chops and slaps, and then Diamante connects with a kick. Diamante delivers a clothesline and then takes Ivelisse down to the mat. Diamante goes for the cover, but Ivelisse kicks out. Ivelisse comes back and slams Diamante to the mat and goes for the cover, but Diamante kicks out. Diamante comes back with a quick roll up and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Diamante

Match #5 – Singles Match: Adam Page vs. Five
Five goes for a couple kicks, but Page blocks and delivers a few shots. Page delivers a few chops and goes for a back-drop, but Five lands on his feet. Page runs the ropes and drops Five with a clothesline. Page connects with a snap suplex and goes for the cover, but Five kicks out. Five comes back and sends Page to the corner. Five connects with a forearm shot, but then Page sends him to the apron. Page goes for a clothesline, but Five blocks it and delivers a kick. Page comes back with a kick of his own that sends Five to the floor. Page slams Five into the barricade and then drapes him over it. Page tosses Five back into the ring as other members of The Dark Order come to the stage, and the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Five is in control in the ring. Five delivers a few shots and then connects with a senton. Five comes off the ropes, but Page gets his knees up. Five comes back with more shots and an enzuigiri, but Page comes back and drops him with a clothesline. Page clotheslines Five in the corner, and then takes him down with a fall-away slam. Page delivers a rolling elbow shot and goes for the cover, but Five kicks out. Page delivers a power bomb and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Adam Page
-After the match, Page stares down the other Dark Order members and tells them to get into the ring. Mr. Brodie Lee and Colt Cabana walk out, and Lee gets into the ring and gets a mic. He says he has been nothing but impressed with Page, but he is not impressed with his lack of friends and tag partners when he is in immediate danger. He says the Dark Order can protect Page and would never leave him alone. Page says he appreciates it, but he is not ready to join a cult right now. Lee says Page just made his bed and he hopes he enjoys his sleep. Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Alex Reynolds, and John Silver get into the ring and beat down Page. FTR runs out and beats down the Dark Order members, and then Kenny Omega rushes the ring as well. Page accepts a handshake and a beer from FTR.

Next week: Page and Omega will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Uno and Grayson, Hikaru Shida will take on Diamante, Darby Allin and Jon Moxley will meet Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Tornado Tag Team Match, and Cody will defend the AEW TNT Championship.

Match #6 – Tag Team Match: Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) (w/Marko Stunt) vs. The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho and Jake Hager) (w/Santana and Ortiz)
Jericho and Jungle Boy start the match, and Jericho beats Jungle Boy into the corner. Jericho stomps on Jungle Boy and delivers chops. Jungle Boy comes back and sends Jericho to the corner, but Jericho tags in Hager. Luchasaurus tags in and he and Hager exchange shots. Luchasaurus goes for a kick, but Hager grabs him and applies an ankle lock. Luchasaurus gets to the ropes, but Jericho tags in. Jericho delivers a few shots to Luchasaurus and tags Hager back in. Luchasaurus tries to fight back, but Hager drops him with a chop block. Luchasaurus comes back with an elbow, and then he and Hager drop each other with clotheslines. Jericho and Jungle Boy tag in and Jungle Boy drops him with a hurricanrana. Jungle Boy grabs Jericho and rolls him up for a two count. Jungle Boy delivers kicks and then drops Santana and Ortiz with a dive. Jungle Boy drops Jericho in the ring and goes for the cover, but Hager breaks it up. Stunt gets involved and Jungle Boy rolls Jericho up again, but Jericho kicks out. Jericho knocks Stunt to the floor and clears the ring as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Jericho drops Jungle Boy with a suplex. Jericho goes for the cover, but Jungle Boy kicks out. Jericho clotheslines Jungle Boy in the corner and puts him up top. Jericho delivers a shot and climbs, but Jungle Boy sends him back to the mat. Jungle Boy connects with a splash and goes for the cover, but Jungle Boy kicks out. Jericho takes Jungle Boy down again and tags in Hager. Hager delivers an elbow shot and applies a submission. Jungle Boy fights back with kicks to the midsection and then he causes Hager to hit the turnbuckles. Jericho tags in and grabs his bat. Referee Aubrey Edwards and Jericho argue over the bat and he gets rid of it. Jericho drops Jungle Boy with a back suplex, but Jungle Boy counters with a roll up for two. Jungle Boy drops Jericho with a clothesline and then delivers an enzuigiri. Hager tags in and drives his knee into Jungle Boy’s midsection. Hager applies a rear chin-lock and Jericho tags back in. They double-team Jungle Boy with chops and go for a double suplex, but Jungle Boy counters with a double DDT.
Luchasaurus tags in and kicks Hager in the face. Luchasaurus delivers chops to Hager and Jericho and then delivers kicks to both. Hager comes back and slams Luchasaurus to the mat and then Stunt, Santana, and Ortiz all get involved. Luchasaurus kicks Jericho in the face and goes for the cover, but Jericho kicks out. Jungle Boy takes out Santana and Ortiz, but Serpentico comes out and hits Luchasaurus with the bat. Jericho hits the Codebreaker and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Inner Circle
-After the match, The Inner Circle and Serpentico beat down Jurassic Express. Septentico removes his mask, and reveals himself to be Sammy Guevara. The beat down on Jurassic Express continues. Best Friends and Orange Cassidy come to the ring as The Inner Circle retreats. Next week, The Inner Circle will tage on Best Friends, Cassidy, Jungle Boy, and Luchasaurus.
