A new Nation of Domination?

Jul 21, 2020 - by Steve Gerweck

On Raw last night WWE Hall of Famer Ron Simmons (Faarooq) made an appearance and tried to advise MVP and Bobby Lashley . According to Dave Meltzer there was an idea on last night’s Raw to revamp Simmons’ old stable, the Nation of Domination.

The reason Ron Simmons was brought in and appeared on television this week was to be a part of that angle. While the angle was reportedly dropped from last night’s episode, WWE might still be building to it later on. It was reported by Mike Johnson that there were many rewrites before the taping began yesterday.

It seems like that angle would have more potential for trouble than it did back in the day. The original Nation were heels and engaged in feuds that were essentially race-based “gang wars.” In the current climate that couldn’t happen without some serious heat, and not the good kind. I get wanting to feature your black wrestlers more as a reaction, but I don’t think this is the way to do it.

@What?–Agreed. While coming out and kneeling before their matches would be a great visual, it would also make a joke of what’s going on in today’s climate. People would switch channels instantly. But at the end of the day, there’s no way would Vince do anything that would upset the president and I’m pretty sure this would.
