6/24/20 AEW Dynamite Recap

The opening credits roll. Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida.

Match #1 – Lumberjack Match: Luchasaurus (w/Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt) vs. Wardlow (w/MJF)
Luchasaurus and Wardlow exchange shots, and then Wardlow drops Luchasaurus with a clothesline. Wardlow delivers shots in the corner, and tosses Luchasaurus to the outside. The lumberjacks attack Luchasaurus, but he fights all of them off. Wardlow suplexes Luchasaurus back into the ring,but Luchasaurus comes back with rights and lefts. Wardlow counters and suplexes Luchasaurus, and then delivers right hands. Luchasaurus comes back with a few chops, and drops Wardlow with a clothesline. Luchasaurus delivers a roundhouse kick and connects with a moonsault press. Luchasaurus goes for the cover, but Wardlow kicks out. Luchasaurus kicks Wardlow into the corner, and then delivers a headbutt. Wardlow comes back and delivers a superplex and goes for the cover, but Luchasaurus kicks out. Luchasaurus comes back with a knee strike, but Wardlow comes off the ropes with a clothesline. Luchasaurus comes back with a Spanish Fly and goes for the cover, but Wardlow kicks out. They go to the stage, and Wardlow slams Luchasaurus onto it.
The lumberjacks brawl on the outside as Luchasaurus and Wardlow brawl on the stage. Brandon Cutler gets on the stage with them, but Wardlow throws him onto the other lumberjacks. Marko Stunt does the same, and Wardlow throws him as well. Luchasaurus connects with a roundhouse kick, and Wardlow falls onto the lumberjacks. Luchasaurus comes off the stage with a Shooting Star Press that drops everyone at ringside. Luchasaurus gets Wardlow back into the ring and delivers a few kicks. Luchasaurus delivers a choke slam and goes for the cover, but MJF gets on the apron. Jungle Boy takes MLF, and the rest of the lumberjacks, out with a dive. Wardlow delivers a low blow to Luchasaurus, and then connects with the F-10 and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Wardlow
-After the match, Jurassic Express brawls with MJF and Wardlow, and then all of the lumberjacks get into the ring and an all-out brawl ensues. MJF and Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy is announced for Fyter Fest.

The latest “Technique by Taz” focuses on Brian Cage.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Hikaru Shida vs. Red Velvet
Before the match, Shida gets in Penelope Ford’s face at ringsie and they almost brawl. In the ring, Shida drops Velvet with a knee strike and the Falcon Arrow and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Hikaru Shida
-After the match, Shida goes back to ringside and attacks Ford and Kip Sabian. Shida will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Ford on next week’s AEW Fyter Fest.

Footage from the AEW Fyter Fest Press Conference, which was held earlier today, is shown. Cody and his team are present, but Jake Hager is nowhere to be seen. Arn Anderson addresses Hager and says when things are said and done, Cody will still be the AEW TNT Champion. Cody says being the first AEW TNT Champion feels like hope, and says he takes wrestling seriously because wrestling has always been serious for his family. Hager walks in with his wife. He and Cody pose for pictures, and then Hager puts his fist against Cody’s face. Hager’s wife throws water in Cody’s face and they leave as Cody ends the press conference.

A new vignette with Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss airs. Janela is buying groceries, but Kiss is being attacked by a group of guys in the parking lot. Janela comes out of the store, and he and Janela beat down the guys and leave.

Match #3 – Tag Team Match: Colt Cabana and Mr. Brodie Lee (w/Alex Reynolds and John Silver) vs. Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss
Lee and Kiss start the match, and Kiss sends Lee to the corner and slaps him in the face. Lee comes back and takes Kiss down, and Janela tags in. Lee delivers a right hand, and Cabana tags in. Janela drops Cabana with a back elbow and tags in Kiss. Janela hits Lee with an elbow, and then he and Kiss drop Cabana to the mat. Lee gets into the ring and drops Janela with a kick to the face. Lee tosses Kiss to the apron, and then Silver and Reynolds attack him. Cabana splashes onto Kiss and goes for the cover, but Kiss kicks out. Cabana tags Lee back in as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Janela and Cabana are in the ring. Janela delivers a Death Valley Driver andgoes for the cover, but Cabana kicks out. Janela takes out Lee with a moonsault, and Kiss does the same to Cabana. Janela delivers a back elbow in the corner, and then Kiss kicks Cabana in the midsection. Janela connects with a splash, and Kiss connectswith a 450 splash. Janela goes for the cover, but Lee breaks it up. Janela sends Lee to the floor, and Kiss kicks Lee in the face. Kiss and Janela go for a clothesline on Cabana, but Cabana rolls through and gets a two count on Janela. Kiss kicks Lee back to the floor, but Silver and Reynolds pull Cabana to the floor. Kiss takes out Reynolds and Silver, but Lee kicks Kiss in the face. Janela goes for a dive, but Lee catches him and slams him into the barricade. Lee drops Janela with a discus lariat back in the ring, and Cabana gets the pin fall.
Winners: Colt Cabana and Mr. Brodie Lee
-After the match, Lance Archer attacks and beats down Janela and Kiss.

Match #4 – Tag Team Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. SCU (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian)
Wheeler and Kazarian start the match, and they exchange wrist-locks. Harwood tags in and takes Kazarian down to the mat. Wheeler tags back in and delivers a right hand. Wheeler applies a wrist-lock, but Kazarian gets free and runs the ropes. Daniels makes a tag and takes Wheeler down with a dropkick. Daniels delivers a few shots, and drives his knee into Wheeler’s midsection. Daniels delivers a headbutt and goes for a leg lariat, but Harwood holds onto Wheeler. All four men get into the ring and begin to brawl. They all fight to the outside, and all four are down on the floor as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Kazarian and Wheeler are in the ring. Daniels makes the tag, but Wheeler takes him down with a hurricanrana. Harwood tags in and sends Kazarian to the floor. Harwood drops Daniels with a slingshot suplex and goes for the cover, but Daniels kicks out. Harwood gets a roll-up on Daniels, but Daniels kicks out. Harwood connects with a right hand, but Daniels comes back with a clothesline. Kazarian and Wheeler tag in and exchange shots. Kazarian drops Wheeler with a clothesline, and then delivers a back elbow. Kazarian delivers a Backstabber, and Daniels kicks Wheeler in the face. Kazarian drops Wheeler with an Unprettier and goes for the cover, but Wheeler kicks out. Daniels tags in, but Wheeler sends him into the corner and Harwood tags in. Harwood connects with a top rope leg drop and goes for the cover, but Daniels kicks out. Harwood chops Daniels in the corner, but Daniels slams him to the mat. Daniels goes for the cover, but Harwood kicks out. Kazarian tags in, and he and Daniels double-team Harwood. Kazarian goes for the cover, but Harwood kicks out.
Daniels tags in and delivers the Angel’s Wings. Daniels goes for the cover, but Wheeler breaks it up. Daniels delivers a knee to Wheeler, but Harwood rolls Daniels up for two. Wheeler takes the tag and they deliver the Goodnight Express to Daniels and Wheeler gets the pin fall.
Winners: FTR
-After the match, Harwood says they were not a welcome addition to the AEW roster. He says they are the absolute baddest of the bad guys. He addresses all of the tag teams in AEW and says they have all bitten off more than they can chew, because they are the best tag team on the planet. The Butcher and The Blade appear inside of FTR’s truck and then Lucha Brothers appear behind them in the ring. Butcher and Blade challenge FTR and The Young Bucks to an Eight-Man Tag Team Match at Fyter Fest, against them and Lucha Brothers. Lucha Brothers beat down FTR in the ring. The Young Bucks chase Lucha Brothers from the ring, but Lucha Brothers, Butcher, and Blade leave in FTR’s truck.

A vignette for the upcoming AEW World Tag Team Championship Match between Adam Page and Kenny Omega and Best Friends airs. Page and Omega will defend the titles against Best Friends at Fyter Fest.

A vignette for the upcoming AEW World Championship Match between Jon Moxley and Brian Cage airs. Moxley will defend the title against Cage at Fyter Fest.

Match #5 – Singles Match: Brian Cage vs. Jon Cruz
Cage attacks Cruz from the bell and tosses him around the ring. Cage slams him around and sends him to the outside. Cage delivers a toss power bomb back into the ring, and then delivers the Drill Claw and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Brian Cage
-After the match, Taz gets into the ring and cuts a promo on Moxley. He says he can see Moxley sitting on his couch at home with some crap excuse. He says Moxley is afraid, and he better be afraid of Cage. Taz says Moxley’s title reign is in grave danger, and Moxley will be done come Fyter Fest.

Cabana and Lee are backstage. Cabana says it felt good to win, and Lee says success always feels good. Lee says Cabana showed the world that he is successful, and says he and Cabana will take on SCU at Fyter Fest.

Next week on Night 1 of Fyter Fest: Jurassic Express vs. MJF and Wardlow, Private Party vs. Santana and Ortiz, Hikaru Shida defends the AEW Women’s World Championship against Penelope Ford, Cody defends the AEW TNT Championship against Jake Hager, and Adam Page and Kenny Omega defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Best Friends.

Night 2 on July 8th: Lance Archer vs. Joey Janela, Nyla Rose will be in action, Colt Cabana, Stu Grayson, and Mr. Brodie Lee vs. SCU, Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho, The Young Bucks and FTR vs. The Butcher and The Blade and Lucha Brothers, and Jon Moxley defends the AEW World Championship against Brian Cage.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. hands Schiavone a note that says Big Swole is a piece of trash, but Swole comes out and dumps an apple-tini over Baker’s head.

Match #6 – Singles Match: Matt Hardy vs. Santana (w/Ortiz)
Santana gets the upper hand and sends Hardy into the corner. Santana delivers a few chops and kicks, and sends Hardy to the outside. Hardy comes back and takes advantage, and sends Santana back into the ring. Hardy tries to get back into the ring, but Ortiz trips him up and Santana takes advantage as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Santana charges at Hardy in the corner. Hardy sends him to the apron, but Santana comes back into the ring. Hardy applies a waist-lock, but Santana comes back and slams Hardy to the mat. Santana goes for the cover, but Hardy kicks out. Santana delivers a forearm shot in the corner, but Hardy comes back with one of his own. Hardy puts Santana up top, but Santana counters and sends Hardy to the mat. Santana goes for the frogsplash, but Hardy dodges it. Hardy and Santana exchange shots, and Hardy gains the advantage. Hardy drops Santana with a clothesline and goes for the cover, but Santana kicks out. Hardy slams Santana’s head into the turnbuckles repeatedly, and then clotheslines him in the corner. Hardy delivers the Side Effect and goes for the cover, but Santana kicks out. Hardy delivers the Side Effect again and goes for the cover, but Santana kicks out again. Hardy delivers a third Side Effect and goes for the cover, but Santana kicks out again.
Hardy drops Santana with a neck-breaker and goes for the cover, but Ortiz gets on the apron. Santana takes advantage and slams Hardy to the mat. Santana goes for the cover, but Hardy rolls through and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Matt Hardy
-After the match, Ortiz hits Hardy with the matte ball. He and Santana drop Hardy with the Street Sweeper, but Private Party rush the ring and send Santana and Ortiz from the ring.

Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy come face-to-face. Jericho says he thought Cassidy’s name was stupid, and he asked Tony Khan and The Young Bucks why they hired him. He says Cassidy is out of his lane, and just like the people who like him, he is lazy. He says if Cassidy tries any of his antics at Fyter Fest, he will beat the hell out of him. He says Cassidy will run out of juice at Fyter Fest. Cassidy takes the microphone from Jericho and lays it in the ring. He delivers his devastating kicks to Jericho’s shins and then puts his hands in his pockets. Jericho takes off Cassidy’s sunglasses and breaks them. Cassidy takes Jericho down and they begin to brawl. Cassidy sends Jericho to the floor and they brawl on the outside. They fight into the stands and then Cassidy gets busted open. Cassidy comes back and sends Jericho crashing through a table. Cassidy puts on a new pair of sunglasses and stands over Jericho as the show comes to a close.
