WWE IC title declared vacant, tournament to start on Friday
There is a new Intercontinental champion and his name is…Vacant!
It was announced on WWE Backstage yesterday that since Sami Zayn is unable to compete, the Intercontinental title he holds is now vacant.
Zayn last appeared on WWE television at WrestleMania 36 where he defeated Daniel Bryan to retain the title. He won the title at Elimination Chamber earlier this year when he defeated Braun Strowman in a match that also involved Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro. Zayn is one of those who took WWE’s offer not to work during the pandemic.
Meanwhile, a tournament will be held on Smackdown starting this Friday to determine who will be crowned the new WWE Intercontinental champion.
