3/25/20 AEW Dynamite Recap

Cody, Kenny Omega, and Tony Schiavon are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida. They run down the card for tonight’s show.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Cody vs. Jimmy Havoc
Cody drops Havoc with a shoulder tackle, but Havoc comes back and takes Cody to the mat. Havoc goes for a quick pin, but Cody bridges out. Havoc takes Cody down with an arm-drag and then applies a wrist-lock. Cody backs Havoc into the corner and rolls Havoc up, but Havoc counters and they exchange roll-ups for a few moments. They shake hands after the stalemate and then Havoc delivers a right hand to the jaw. Havoc puts his boot in Cody’s fce in the corner, but Cody fights back. Havoc drops Cody with another right hand, but Cody comes back and drops Havoc with the Cody Cutter. Cody applies a Figure Four, but Havoc gets free. Cody sends Havoc to the floor and takes him out with a dive. Cody slams Havoc into the stage and then the barricade. Cody tosses Havoc back into the ring, but Havoc leaves and goes to the stage. Havoc slams Cody into the announce table and provides some commentary of his own. Havoc delivers a right hand and tosses Cody back into the ring, but Cody counters with a right hand and an uppercut.
Cody slams Havoc into the corner, but Havoc counters and slams Cody into the corner a few times. Havoc punches Cody in the face and stomps on his arm. Havoc rakes Cody’s eyes, but Cody sends him to the stage. Cody drapes Havoc over the ropes and runs up the tunnel. He runs back and clotheslines Havoc back into the ring. Cody tosses Havoc to the mat and goes for the Cody Cutter, but Havoc catches him and applies an arm-bar. Cody gets to the ropes to break the hold and goes for the Cross Rhodes, but Havoc delivers a knee to his head. Havoc rolls through and begins joint manipulation on Cody’s fingers. Cody gets free, but Havoc takes him down with a clothesline. Havoc goes for the cover, but Cody kicks out. Havoc goes for shots in the corner, but Cody gets free and drops Havoc with a reverse suplex from the top. Cody delivers the Cross Rhodes twice and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Cody
-After the match, a promo from Jake Roberts airs. He says Lance Archer is itching to get into the ring. He says he was waiting for his phone to ring for a long time, but it never did. He tells Cody to bring all of his people and to give them something to sign that says Cody will meet them just one time.

A new vignette from Darby Allin airs. He talks about Kip Sabian and how he hasn’t seen anything “super bad” about him.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Darby Allin vs. Kip Sabian (w/Penelope Ford)
They lock up and Allin applies a side headlock. Sabian sends him off the ropes, but Allin drops him with a shoulder tackle. Allin goes back to the headlock, but Sabian sends him away again. Allin gets a roll-up, but Sabian kicks out. Sabian kicks Allin in the midsection and applies a headlock, but Allin gets free. Sabian drops him with a shoulder tackle, but Allin comes back and takes Sabian down with an arm-drag. Sabian rolls to the floor, but Allin follows him. Allin charges, but Ford pulls Sabian out of the way and Allin hits the barricade. Sabian slams Allin into the steps and tosses him back into the ring as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Sabian is in control and sends Allin to the corner. Allin counters with a boot to the face and then dropkicks Sabian into the corner. Allin delivers a back elbow shot and then drops Sabian with a Stunner. Allin goes for the cover, but Sabian kicks out. Sabian comes back and slams Allin into the corner and wraps him around the ring post. Allin comes back and sends Sabian to the floor and goes for a dive, but Ford shoves Sabian out of the way. Allin stops, but takes Sabian out anyway with a dive on the other side. Allin tosses Sabian back into the ring, but Ford grabs his foot. Sabian kicks Allin in the head and brings him back into the ring with the Timeturner. Sabian goes for the cover, but Allin kicks out. Sabian kicks Allin in the face a few times, but Allin fights back with right hands. Sabian comes back with a right hand of his own, but Allin comes back and locks in the Last Supper submission, but gets a pin fall instead.
Winner: Darby Allin

A hype video for Jake Hager airs.

Match #3 – Singles Match: Jake Hager vs. Chico Adams
Hager slams Adams into the ring post a few times and slams him to the mat. Hager drives his knee into Adams’ back and sends him to the corner. Hager charges, but Adams moves out of the way. Adams charges now, but Hager catches him and locks in the reverse triangle submission and Adams taps out.
Winner: Jake Hager
-After the match, Jon Moxley gets into the ring and begins brawling with Hager. Moxley drops Hager with the Paradigm Shift, but Hager comes back and applies an ankle lock. Moxley sends Hager to the floor and they stare each other down.

Back from the commercial, Moxley says he told Hager to check his blind spot. He says he is cleared and ready to get back to action. He says Hager walked away tonight, but he won’t walk away at all the next time, or he will die trying.

Footage of Brodie Lee debuting last week and being revealed as The Exalted One airs. Then, he is having dinner with Alex Reynolds and John Silver. He is eating as they are listening and he asks what is wrong with then. Silver tries to eat, but Lee says absolutely not and kicks him off the table. Lee says they do not eat until he is done. Reynolds sneezes and Lee kicks him off the table, too.

Match #4 – Singles Match: Brodie Lee (w/a Dark Order Follower) vs. QT Marshall
Lee kicks Marshall in the face and tosses him to the floor. Lee slams Marshall into the apron and the barricade. Lee delivers a chop and tosses Marshall back into the ring. Lee comes into the ring with a senton and delivers a back elbow in the corner. Lee delivers another back elbow and then takes him down with a suplex. Lee delivers another suplex and drives a forearm into Marshall’s back. Marshall fights back with a couple right hands and then kicks Lee into the corner. Marshall delivers another kick to the face and goes up top, but Lee dodges and slams Marshall to the mat. Lee drops Marshall with a discus lariat and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Brodie Lee
-After the match, the Follower gets into the ring and drops a Dark Order mask onto Marshall before leaving with Lee.

Footage of The Inner Circle defeating The Elite on last week’s Dynamite is shown. The victory earned the numbers advantage for The Inner Circle in the Blood and Guts Match. Matt Hardy’s debut is also shown. Hardy says The Inner Circle must be broken and he is ready to delete them. Chris Jericho and Hardy will meet face-to-face later tonight.

Footage of The Inner Circle’s attack on Nick Jackson from two weeks ago is shown. A medical update is given on Jackson, via Vanguard-1. It shows him working out in his garage and that he is 61% recovered, but flies away when Jackson notices the drone.

Match #5 – AAA Mega Championship Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Sammy Guevara
Guevara takes Omega down to the mat, but Omega comes back and applies a wrist-lock. Omega drops Guevara to the mat, but Guevara comes back and applies a front face-lock. Omeha comes back with a wrist-lock, but Guevara comes back with one of his own. Omega takes Guevara down with an arm-drag, but Guevara delivers a dropkick. Omega goes to the floor as Guevara poses in the ring. Omega comes back in the ring, but Guevara rakes his eyes. Guevara sends Omega to the floor and slams him into the ring post. Guevara slams Omega’s arm into the apron and takes him to the barricade. Guevara delivers a few more shots, but Omega fights back with some of his own. Guevara poses with his signs at ringside and then slams Omega’s arm into the barricade. Guevara kisses a sign with Brandi Rhodes’ face on it as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Guevara is still in control. He slams Omega’s arm into the barricade again, but Omega comes back with a right hand. Guevara flirts with Brandi at ringside, but she slaps him and Omega takes him down. Omega slams Guevara into the steps a few times and tosses him back into the ring. Omega takes Guevara down from the top and goes for the cover, but Guevara kicks out. Guevara comes back and works over Omega’s arm again and slams it into the apron. Guevara stomps on Omega’s arm and goes for a standing moonsault, but Omega moves. Omega delivers a few chops and then kicks Guevara in the midsection. Omega delivers a headbutt, but Guevara bites Omega’s hand. Guevara kicks Omega in the back and goes for the cover, but Omega kicks out. Guevara works over Omega’s arm and goes for the cover, but Omega kicks out. Guevara applies a headlock, but Omega fights out with elbow shots. Guevara comes back with a forearm to the head as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Omega has a waist-lock on Guevara. Guevara delivers a couple elbow shots, but Omega sends him into the corner. Omega delivers a few double ax handles, but Guevara kicks him in the midsection. Omega delivers another double ax handle and goes for the cover, but Guevara kicks out. Omega comes off the ropes and delivers a baseball slide dropkick. Omega delivers a leg drop and goes for the cover, but Guevara kicks out. Omega sets up for the snap dragon suplex, but Guevara counters with an elbow shot. Guevara rolls through and delivers a double stomp. Guevara connects with a running Shooting Star Press and goes for the cover, but Omega kicks out. Omega comes back with a kick to the face and sends Guevara to the apron. Guevara comes back with shots to Omega’s hand and connects with a Cutter. Omega goes to the floor, but Guevara takes him out with a dive. Guevara tosses Omega back into the ring and comes off the ropes, but Omega counters with a power bomb.
Omega delivers the V Trigger and goes for a Liger Bomb, but Guevara counters and takes Omega to the mat. Guevara goes for the cover, but Omega kicks out. Guevara goes up top and goes for the Shooting Star Press, but Omega moves. Omega delivers the V Trigger and goes for another, but Guevara bites his hand. Omega gets free and delivers another V Trigger. Omega goes for another, but Guevara dodges. OMega goes for the snap dragon suplex, but Guevara lands on his feet and kicks Omega in the head. Guevara delivers a knee strike, but Omega comes back with another V Trigger and slams Guevara to the mat. Omega goes for the cover, but Guevara kicks out. Guevara flips Omega off, but Omega delivers another V Trigger and then plants Guevara with the One Winged Angel and gets the pin fall.

Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring. Jericho says he wants to give Matt Hardy the chance to make the right decision, and that decision is to join The Inner Circle. Vanguard-1 hovers over the ring and Jericho begins talking to the drone. Jericho says he doesn’t like the drone or anything about it. He calls the drone a piece of trash, but invites the drone to join The Inner Circle. Vanguard-1 leaves the ring area as Jericho yells at it. Hardy appears in the rafters and then suddenly appears at ringside. Jericho asks Hardy how he teleported and Hardy says he is magic. Jericho says AEW is his company and was built on his back. He says Hardy should join the winning side, The Inner Circle. Hardy says he owns a debt to The Bucks of Youth and says Jericho may recognize his vessel and know his name, but he is with Damascus now and Damascus is over 3,000 years old. Jericho talks to Damascus now and says he knows all about reinvention, but calls Hardy the same old Matt Hardy. Jericho says Hardy has always lived in the shadow of something. Hardy says he is in no one’s shadow and Jericho asks him if he is Inner Circle or Elite. Hardy says “delete” over and over and Jericho tells him to stop. They argue back and forth a bit more and then Hardy tells Jericho to get a good look at the entity that is going to delete Jericho and The Inner Circle. Hardy knocks Jericho down, but Guevara gets into the ring and attacks Hardy. Cody and Omega get into the ring with chairs and attack Guevara and Jericho. Guevara and Jericho leave the ring and get on the stage as Cody, Omega, and Hardy look on from the ring. Hardy sets off some pyro around Jericho and Guevara as the show comes to a close.
