3/18/20 AEW Dynamite Recap
The show opens with Cody in the ring. He says recent events can put into perspective how small we really are. He says he is about to ask three athletes to put away their differences. He says living in fear is now living at all. He says he needs Matt Jackson to use his anger to focus on Blood and Guts and says he is tired of putting over Adam Page. He says he and Page both lost to Chris Jericho, but Page needs to get over it. He says he and Kenny Omega don’t always like each other and can argue over who is the best for a long time. Cody says he needs the real Omega to show up at Blood and Guts. He says he needs The Elite to be elite. Jackson and Omega come to the ring. Omega says they are friends talking to friends and they haven’t always seen eye to eye. Omega says the world is falling apart and they don’t even know if they will have a Dynamite next week. Omega says he wants to go out as they came in, as The Elite. Jackson says it’s just the three of them in the ring and asks where Page is. Page walks to the stage and Jackson says things have been strange between them. Jackson says they probably can’t fix things between them, but they are asking if he will stand with them. Page raises his glass, nods, and walks away. Omega says they know people are out there watching and they are going to give the best show that they can. He says hit the lights and pyro and Dynamite officially kicks off.
Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Taz are on commentary from Jacksonville, Florida, and they run down the card for tonight’s show.

Tony Schiavone interviews MJF at ringside. MJF says he doesn’t have to wrestle tonight, and the winner’s purse doesn’t matter and isn’t for him tonight. He says he is going to let the under-card talent get their TV time tonight. Shawn Spears is there as well and Schiavone asks if they are gambling on the matches. They get offended at his accusations.

Match #1 – Tag Team Match: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) (w/Orange Cassidy) vs. The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix)
Fenix and Trent start the match and Trent backs Fenix into the corner. They lock up and Fenix backs Trent into the corner. Trent blocks a kick and delivers a chop. Fenix comes back with one of his own and then they exchange more shots. Fenix delivers an uppercut, but Trent comes back with a double knee driver. Trent kicks Fenix in the back and tags in Taylor. Best Friends drop Fenix with a double shoulder tackle and then Taylor drops him with a back suplex. Taylor goes for the cover, but Fenix kicks out. Trent tags back in and Best Friends drop Fenix with a double suplex. Trent goes for the cover, but Fenix kicks out. Trent drops Fenix with a back elbow and tags in Taylor. Taylor delivers a dropkick and goes for the cover, but Fenix kicks out. Trent tags in and connects with a double ax handle. Fenix comes back with a poke to the eyes and a few chops. Pentagon tags in and kicks Trent in the face. Fenix delivers a kick as well and then The Lucha Brothers double kick Trent in the head. Pentagon goes for the cover, but Trent kicks out.
Taylor gets sent to the floor and then Pentagon kicks Trent in the hamstring a few times. Fenix connects with a shot to Trent and then Pentagon takes him to the mat. Pentagon bites Trent and tags Fenix back in. The Lucha Brothers double team Trent an then Fenix kicks Taylor to the floor after splashing onto Trent. Cassidy stands up at the announce table and Fenix stares at him. Trent takes Pentagon down on the floor, then Fenix takes out Trent, then Taylor takes out Fenix as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Fenix is in control of Trent. Pentagon tags in and kicks Trent in the face. Pentagon goes for the cover, but Trent kicks out. Trent fights back and they exchange shots and kicks. Trent comes back with an arm-drag and then drops Pentagon with a swinging DDT. Taylor and Fenix tag in and Taylor delivers a back-breaker. Pentagon comes back with a kick, but Taylor delivers a knee strike. Best Friends drop Fenix with a cutter and then bump elbows instead of hugging, but The Lucha Brothers deliver superkicks. Cassidy comes to ringside and Taylor shoves the Lucha Brothers to the floor. Cassidy comes off the stage and takes them out with a fall. Taylor piledrives Pentagon in the ring and goes for the cover, but Pentagon kicks out. Trent tags in, but Fenix delivers a superkick. Pentagon rolls Trent up, but Trent kicks out. Taylor and Fenix brawl on the ropes as Pentagon low blows Trent. Pentagon sends Taylor to the floor and then The Lucha Brothers plant Trent with the package piledriver/double stomp combo and Pentagon gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Lucha Brothers
-After the match, Schiavone interviews Best Friends. Taylor says if The Lucha Brothers like to kick people in their dicks, they can take it to the street. Trent tells The Lucha Brothers to meet them in the parking lot on the next Dynamite.

Match #2 – Four-Way Match: Penelope Ford (w/Kip Sabian) vs. Riho vs. Kris Statlander vs. Hikaru Shida
Ford tosses Riho to the floor, but Statlander and Shida go after Ford. Sabian trips them both up and pulls them to the floor. Statlander and Shida take Sabian down and then Ford goes after them. Riho takes all three out with a cross-body and then tosses Ford into the ring. Ford rolls back out and then Riho takes Shida down with a dropkick. Statlander drops Riho with a back-breaker and lays her in the corner. Shida suplexes Statlander into Riho and goes for the cover on Statlander, but Statlander kicks out. Statlander delivers an elbow to Shida, but Shida pokes her in the eye. Shida rolls Statlander up, but she kicks out. Ford comes back and takes Statlander down and then Riho takes Statlander down with a hurricanrana. Shida delivers a dropkick to Statlander, but Riho and Ford drop Shida with a double suplex. Ford and Riho exchange shots and Riho drops Sabian with a dropkick. Ford attacks Riho from behind and smashes her in the corner. Riho comes back for a roll-up, but Sabian grabs Ford’s hands to hold her up.
Riho hits a knee to Sabian to send him to the floor an then Shida drops Riho with a knee strike. Ford kicks Shida in the face and Ford goes for the cover on Riho, but Statlander breaks it up. Statlander slams Shida to the mat and then slams Riho onto Shida. Ford takes Statlander down with a reverse-rana, but Shida drops her with a dropkick. Shida delivers a Falcon Arrow to Ford and goes for the cover, but Ford kicks out. Shida delivers a running knee strike to Ford and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Hikaru Shida

Schiavone interviews Colt Cabana at ringside. Cabana says he is doing some scouting and he has a great record so far in AEW. He says the women’s match was great and says Ford would be a lot better without Sabian. Sabian get in his face and they shove each other around. Cabana smacks Sabian in the face and then Sabian leaves with Ford.

Schiavone catches up with Jon Moxley earlier in the day. Moxley was put on the “do not enter” list and Moxley says he is going to take a drive and let off a little steam. He says he is not going to miss the Blood and Guts party, whenever it happens.

Match #3 – Tag Team Match: The Butcher and The Blade vs. Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy)
Blade and Jungle Boy start the match. Blade backs him into the corner and delivers a few chops. Jungle Boy comes back with an arm drag and gets a crucifix cover for a two count. Jungle Boy takes Blade down with another arm drag, but Blade comes back with a knee lift. Jungle Boy comes back and takes Blade to the corner and Luchasaurus tags in. Jurassic Express double teams Blade and slam him to the mat. Luchasaurus goes for the cover, but Blade kicks out. Jungle Boy tags back in and Luchasaurus kicks Blade to the mat. Blade rolls to the floor and Butcher checks on him. Jungle Boy comes over the ropes, but Butcher and Blade catch him and slam him into the barricade. Butcher and Blade slam him into the ring apron and Blade tosses him back into the ring. Butcher tags in and stomps away on Jungle Boy in the corner. Butcher delivers a chop and punches him in the chest. Butcher rakes Jungle Boy’s eyes over the rope and then Blade tags in. Blade drops Jungle Boy with a clothesline and goes for the cover, but Jungle Boy kicks out as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Blade is in control of Jungle Boy. Blade delivers a few shots in the corner and then connects with an elbow shot. Jungle Boy comes back an takes Blade down, but Blade drops an elbow to stop the tag. Blade tosses Jungle Boy to the floor and Butcher slams Jungle Boy into the apron. Butcher tosses Jungle Boy back into the ring and blade goes for the cover, but Jungle Boy kicks out. Jungle Boy comes back with an elbow and makes the tag. Luchasaurus drops Blade with a clothesline and a kick to Butcher. Luchasaurus kicks Blade in the face and slams him to the mat with the Extinction Event. Luchasaurus goes for the cover, but Butcher breaks it up. Jungle Boy and Blade go to the floor as Luchasarus and Butcher exchange shots. Luchasaurus kicks Butcher in the head and goes for a chokeslam, but Blade breaks it up. Buthcer and Blade double team Luchasaurus and slam him to the mat. Blade goes for the cover, but Jungle Boy breaks it up. MJF calls for Full Death from the crown, but Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy send Butcher to the floor and then drop Blade with a cutter and Luchasaurus gets the pin fall.

Dark Order’s music hits and Evil Uno talks about the Exalted One. He says the Exalted One is near and everyone will soon see what his eyes see. He says he promised the arrival of the Exalted One, and he never lies and never goes back on his promises because he cares about everyone. He repeats the Exalted One is near, but Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian interrupt him. Daniels says it has been this way for three months and he has not made anyone in Dark Order better. He says Uno has done nothing but waste time and the biggest lie he has told is about the Exalted One. Daniels says there is not an Exalted One, but a video begins playing on the screen. A disguised voice plays and says he is the Exalted One. He says the Dark Order will do what they want, when they want, and he will take something if he wants it. The Exalted One is revealed to be Brodie Lee. He says Daniels is not the first out-of-touch old man to not believe in him, but he will be the last. Lee appears in the ring and lays Daniels out with a kick. Stu Grayson and Uno beat down Kazarian as Lee drops Daniels with a spinning lariat. Alex Reynolds and John Silver join them in the ring and leave Daniels and Kazarian lying.

Schiavone interviews Lance Archer and Jake Roberts. Roberts says Archer is not here to talk. Roberts says Cody should pay attention to them because they don’t play games. Roberts says they told Cody what they wanted and it is time for Cody to stand up and meet Archer. Roberts says they will get Cody’s attention. A vignette for Archer airs.
On the next Dynamite: Luchasuaurs vs. Wardlow in a Lumberjack Match, Lucha Brothers vs. Best Friends in a Parking Lot Brawl, and the Blood and Guts Match featuring The Inner Circle and The Elite, with a spot left to fill on their team. They do not say when the next Dynamite is.

Match #4 – Six-Man Tag Team Match; winning team earns the numbers advantage in the Blood and Guts Match: The Inner Circle (Jake Hager, Santana, and Ortiz) (w/Sammy Guevara) vs. The Elite (Cody, Matt Jackson, and Adam Page) (w/Kenny Omega and Arn Anderson)
Santana and Cody start the match and Santana attacks Cody from behind. Santana delivers three shots to the head, but Cody comes back with a power slam. Santana comes back with an arm-wrench and tags in Ortiz. Ortiz and Santana slam Cody to the mat and Ortiz pokes him in the eye. Cody comes back and slams Ortiz down and tags in Jackson. Jackson delivers a double ax handle and tags in Cody. Cody delivers one as well and tags in Jackson again. Cody and Jackson double team Ortiz and then Page kicks Ortiz in the face. Ortiz comes back and pokes Jackson in the eye and tags in Santana. Jackson ducks Santana and delivers shots to Hager. Santana delivers a knee to the midsection, but Jackson takes him down with a Spear. Jackson sets up for a superkick, but Page tags himself in. Santana deliver shots to Page and chops him in the corner. Page comes back with a corner clothesline and then drops Santana with another clothesline. Page suplexes Santana to the mat and goes for the cover, but Santana kicks out. Cody tags in, but Santana sends him to the floor. Ortiz attacks Cody on the floor and slams him into the ring apron as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Hager and Ortiz double team Cody and then Ortiz drops him with a vertical suplex. Ortiz goes for the cover, but Cody kicks out. Cody goes to the floor, but Ortiz slams him into the barricade. Jackson beats down Ortiz on the floor, but Hager tosses Jackson away. Santana tags in and locks Cody in a submission. Santana turns it into a cover, but Cody kicks out. Santana stomps on Cody and tags in Hager. Hager delivers right hands and slams Cody into the corner. Hager applies a top wrist-lock and turns it into a front face-lock. Hager backs Cody into the corner and tags in Ortiz. Ortiz controls Cody in the corner and tags in Santana. Santana keeps Cody grounded as Jackson gets into the ring. Santana fakes a tag and Ortiz gets into the ring. Cody drops Ortiz with Cross Rhodes and Hager tags in. Cody sends Hager to the floor, but Santana knocks Page and Jackson to the floor. Hager and Santana double team Cody in the corner as the show heads to a commercial.
Back from the break, Hager is in control of Cody. Hager comes off the ropes, but Cody gets his boots up. Cody maks it to Page and Santana tags in. Page takes Ortiz to the floor and then slams Santana to the mat. Page delivers a sliding lariat to Santana and goes for the cover, but Ortiz breaks it up. Cody takes out Ortiz with a dive and gets in MJF’s face. Wardlow grabs Cody around the throat an then Anderson hits Wardlow with a clipboard. Jackson and Santana are in the ring and Jackson delivers a few suplexes. Page gets into the ring and he and Jackson double suplex Hager. Page and Jackson go for the Indietaker, but Hager pulls Page to the floor. Santana rolls up Jackson and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Inner Circle
-After the match, Jericho brags about The Inner Circle winning the match. He says they are better and they have the numbers advantage. He says all fans are banned for all future events, even if the world gets better, and says they have five members while The Elite only have four. Jericho says The Inner Circle has never fought with each other and always win. Jericho says when Blood and Guts happens, they are going to dominate that as well. A drone interrupts and Jackson says they are not outnumbered. He says he made a phone call to someone who someone who owed him a favor. Matt Hardy appears in the rafters and does the “Delete” gesture to the Inner Circle.
