WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter Guest Stars on Teen Titans Go!

Teen Titans Go! did a 30 minute (the shows are usually 15 minutes each) special which is a group parody of Transformers and GI Joe. To make the parody complete, playing the character of Dr. Military is none other than Sgt. Slaughter!

The cartoon series is known for pardying many different things from the 80’s. There is a little bit of well intended mocking of the silly nature of some of what they parody. But, in the end, it comes off as being done with love and appreciation.

It should be noted that Teen Titans Go! did do a parody on pro wrestling called “Oh Yeah!” a few years ago. The episode was based on Cyborg not getting on board with the rest of the Titans as wrestling fans calling it “fake” over and over again. The episode sees them all develop their own wrestling personas that are a lot like wrestlers we have seen. Beast Boy even cuts a “Macho Man” style promo saying the “cream always rises to the top.” Again, with a tad of mockery. But, in the end, with love. Cyborg later swerves the Titans by turning on them and capturing the title in a very wrestling style swerve.

It should also be noted, for those interested, that Greg Cypes, who voices Beast Boy, also voiced Michaelangelo on the 2012-2017 version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Turtles’ crossover action figures with the WWE saw Mikey dressed as the “Macho Man” Randy Savage also. So, in 2 ways, he’s referenced the WWE Hall of Famer on cartoons in recent years. We have no idea, however, if this was purely an accident or if Cypes is a big fan of the late “Macho Man”.

Teen Titans Go! airs on Cartoon Network. Check your local listings.
