Jungle Boy Is OK with Jim Ross Calling Him Jack Perry
Pro Wrestling Sheet recently spoke AEW star Jungle Boy addressed Jim Ross using his real name and referring to him as Jungle Jack or Jungle Boy Jack Perry during AEW Dynamite. Recently on his podcast, Jim Ross explained why he refers to Jungle Boy as Jack Perry on TV and using it as a nickname.
Jungle Boy addressed the topic with Ryan Satin. In the past, Jungle Boy, the son of late actor Luke Perry, was more reluctant for people to call him by his real name, but he’s fine with Jim Ross doing it. The AEW wrestler stated, “Things are a bit different now than when I first kinda started it. I don’t want to say that I’ve made it, but in a way, I feel like I got here, at least, on my own merits.” He continued, “For me, honestly, to even hear Jim Ross say my name is cool. That’s the voice of wrestling to me because when I grew up watching wrestling, he was the guy.”
He added, “If that had happened at an earlier age and it were someone else, I probably would have said ‘Can you not do that?’ But I’m not gonna say that to Jim, right? If that’s what it sounds like to him, that’s cool with me.”
When asked if there was an internal discussion about using Jungle Boy’s real name and making “Jungle Boy” the nickname, he said that’s “originally” what the intent was. He continued, “That’s originally what it was, but I liked it because it let me kind of — Jungle Boy is kind of as far away from Jack Perry, in a way, as you can get from Hollywood and that whole thing. It’s kind of totally opposite. We’ll see what happens. I don’t get too concerned about it. I understand what people are saying, but you know, I’m kind of just doing my thing. Whatever happens, happens.”
