The King of the Ring 2019 final match will see Baron Corbin, representing Raw, taking on Chad Gable, representing Smackdown, after both men overcame their respective obstacles this week on WWE television.

Corbin defeated Samoa Joe and Ricochet in a triple threat match semi-final which was a first in a KOTR tournament history. Gable had a more tricky evening last night as his original opponent, Elias, was not medically cleared to compete.

Elias suffered an ankle injury and was pulled out of the show. He had gone through Kevin Owens and Ali earlier in the tournament to reach the final but it wasn’t meant to be this time. Instead, Shane McMahon took Elias’ spot against Gable and appointed Kevin Owens as the special guest referee. McMahon tried to bribe Owens telling him that if he helped him win, he would write off the $100,000 fine he gave him a few weeks ago.

But Owens was having none of it and did a fast three-count on McMahon when Gable delivered a German suplex. McMahon ordered the match to be restarted, changing it to a two-out-of-three falls match but Gable made him tap to the ankle lock.

At that point, McMahon gave up on trying to reach the final and instead fired Kevin Owens.
