6/12/19 WWE NXT Recap: LeRae/Shirai vs. Duke/Shafir; Gulak vs. Kushida; Burch/Lorcan vs. Era Main Event

The opening credits roll. Mauro Ranallo and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary, as NXT emanates from Bel Air, Maryland tonight. Tonight’s card: Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan vs. Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong, and Drew Gulak vs. Kushida in a Submission Match.

Match #1 – Tag Team Match: Candice LeRae and Shirai vs. Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir (w/Shayna Baszler)
LeRae rolls up Duke immediately, but only gets a two count. LeRae dropkicks Duke to the corner, and Shafir tags in. LeRae sends Shafir to the corner and then sends her to the floor. Duke checks on Shafir, and LeRae drops Duke with a baseball slide dropkick and tosses Shafir back into the ring. LeRae goes up top, but Duke distracts her and Shafir connects with a kick. Duke tags in and beats LeRae down. Duke connects with an ax kick and goes for the cover, but LeRae kicks out. Shafir tags back in and takes LeRae down with a judo toss. Shafir goes for the cover, but LeRae kicks out. Shafir applies a submission to LeRae, but LeRae counters with an arm drag. Shafir kicks Shirai to the floor and then sends LeRae into the corner. Duke tags in and stomps away on LeRae. Duke connects with knee strikes and goes for the cover, but LeRae kicks out.
LeRae comes back with a boot to Duke’s face and then knocks Shafir to the floor. Shafir comes back, but LeRae tosses Duke into Shafir. LeRae delivers an enzuiguri to Duke and tags in Shirai. Shirai clotheslines Duke a few times and delivers a double ax handle. Shirai delivers the Tiger Kick and then dropkicks Duke to the mat. Shirai folds Duke’s arm and stomps on it as Shayna Baszler looks on from the stage. Shirai connects with double knees in the corner and goes up top. Shirai sets up for the moonsault, but Baszler pulls Duke out of the ring. Shirai hits the moonsault on Baszler and then LeRae takes out Duke and Shafir with a suicide dive. Shirai slams Baszler into the steps as the referee calls for the bell.
Match Result: No Contest
-After the match, Shirai takes Baszler into the crowd as Duke and Shafir go after LeRae. Referees separate LeRae from Duke and Shafir, but Shirai and Baszler keep battling to the backstage area.

Footage from the TakeOver match between The Velveteen Dream and Tyler Breeze is shown. A promo from Dream is then shown. He says he deserves the spotlight and asks if people are ready for the next experience.

Footage from the match between Drew Gulak and Kushida from two weeks ago is shown, in which Kushida got the win via pin fall. They’ll meet in a Submission Match up next.

A vignette for Damian Priest is shown. He will debut next week.

Match #2 – Submission Match: Drew Gulak vs. Kushida
Neither man gains an advantage early on, but Kushida eventually drops Gulak and applies a hammer-lock. Kushida hyper-extends Gulak’s shoulder joint, but Gulak comes back with a right hand to the midsection. Kushida comes back with a double heel kick that sends Gulak to the floor. Kushida tosses Gulak back into the ring and applies a wrist-lock. Gulak counters and slams Kushida to the mat a few times. Gulak applies the Gory Special, but Kushida is able to get free. Gulak applies a hammer-lock and then a side-headlock. Kushida gets to his feet, but Gulak slams him back down and applies the side-headlock again. Gulak transitions into a shoulder bar, but Kushida fights back with forearm shots and a few kicks. Kushida drops Gulak with a few clotheslines and then delivers a hip toss. Kushida follows it up with a dropkick.
Kushida delivers an enzuiguri and a tornado DDT. Kushida locks in a cross arm-breaker, but Gulak makes it to the ropes. Kushida keeps the work on Gulak’s arm and then goes for an Ankle Lock. Gulak counters into his own Ankle Lock and then clasps his knee as well. Kushida makes it to the ropes and both men go to the apron. Kushida connects with a hurricanrana that sends Gulak back into the ring. They exchange shots and Kushida drops Gulak with a handspring back elbow. Kushida locks in the Hoverboard Lock and Gulak taps out.
Winner: Kushida
-After the match, Kushida offers a handshake, but Gulak says some things to him before eventually shaking his hand.

Aliyah and Vanessa Borne are shown outside of the Performance Center. They talk about Mia Yim and say they are both more deserving than her for an NXT Women’s Championship match. They say she brings down the Women’s Dvision and offer her some books on fashion, English, and grammar.

Up next: Burch and Lorcan vs. O’Reilly and Strong.

In two weeks, Baszler and Shirai will battle inside of a steel cage.

Match #3 – Tag Team Match: Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan vs. The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) (w/Bobby Fish)
Lorcan and O’Reilly start the match, and O’Reilly delivers a few kicks to Lorcan and takes him to the corner. O’Reilly delivers a few body shots, but Lorcan counters and delivers chops in the corner. O’Reilly comes back with a boot to the face, but Lorcan delivers an uppercut. They exchange forearm shots and then Burch and Strong fight as well. The Era gets sent to the floor and Lorcan takes then out with a suicide dive. Burch tags in and clotheslines O’Reilly in the corner and then Lorcan slams O’Reilly to the mat. Burch delivers a knee strike and goes for the cover, but Strong breaks it up. Lorcan tags back in and he and Burch deliver uppercuts in the corner. Strong and O’Reilly come back and slam Burch and Lorcan into each other. Lorcan and Strong become the legal men and Strong delivers chops and stomps away on Lorcan in the corner.
Strong delivers a back-breaker and O’Reilly tags back in. He and Strong double-team Lorcan in the corner and then O’Reilly drops Lorcan to the mat. O’Reilly delivers elbows and knees to the midsection and tags in Strong. Strong stomps Lorcan in the corner and catapults him into the ropes. Strong kicks Lorcan in the face and goes for the cover, but Lorcan kicks out. Strong applies a rear chin-lock, and then knocks Burch down on the apron. O’Reilly tags back in and drops a knee from the ropes. O’Reiily delivers palm strikes and then applies an abdominal stretch. Lorcan fights back with uppercuts and then he and O’Reilly exchange forearms. Lorcan decks Strong and takes O’Reilly down with a Blockbuster. Burch tags in and drops Strong, who tags in as well, with a back-body drop. Burch delivers a dropkick, but O’Reilly tags in.
Burch delivers a headbutt to O’Reilly and then a power bomb. Burch goes for the cover, but O’Reilly kicks out. Burch applies the cross-face submission, but Strong breaks it up. O’Reilly and Burch exchange shots and O’Reilly drops Burch with a lariat. Strong tags in and drops Burch with a brain buster and goes for the cover, but Lorcan shoves O’Reilly into Strong to break it up. All four men exchange shots and The Era gets the better of the Brit-Am Brawlers. Jaxson Ryker appears on the stage and Strong tags in O’Reilly. Ryker choke slams a security guard and tosses more of them to the side. O’Reilly and Strong get distracted and Burch rolls up O’Reilly for the win.
Winners: Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan
