6/5/19 WWE NXT Recap: Lee vs. Reeves; Belair vs. Yim; TakeOver Fallout

The show opens with a video recap of what happened at NXT TakeOver: XXV this past Saturday night.

The opening credits roll. Beth Phoenix, Mauro Ranallo, and Nigel McGuinness are on commentary.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Keith Lee vs. Kona Reeves
They lock up and Reeves applies a wrist-lock. Lee turns it into one of his own, but Reeves comes back with a right hand. Reeves comes off the ropes, but Lee sends him flying and Reeves tweaks his knee. Reeves was feigning injury and delivers a headbutt to Lee. Reeves connects with rights and lefts and then kicks Lee in the face. Reeves delivers a knee strike and then a few elbow shots. Reeves delivers another knee and goes for the cover, but Lee kicks out at one. Reeves applies a rear chin-lock and then delivers a forearm shot to Lee’s head. Reeves connects with a few right hands, but Lee fires up. Lee drops Reeves with a few lefts and then connects with a cross-body. Reeves comes back and drapes Lee over the ropes and then slams him to the mat. Reeves goes for the cover, but Lee kicks out at two. Reeves goes for a knee strike, but Lee blocks it. Lee connects with a headbutt and then delivers the Pounce. Lee slams Reeves to the mat with the Limit Breaker and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Keith Lee

Highlights from the TakeOver match between Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai are shown. Shirai is shown backstage, and she says she is not done with Shayna. On next week’s show, Shirai will team with Candice LeRae to take on Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke.

Later tonight: Mia Yim vs. Bianca Belair.

Highlights from the TakeOver match between The Street Profits, The Forgotten Sons, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, and Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan is shown. The Street Profits are shown talking to reporters and they say hard work pays off. They pull the cameraman to join them and take him to get a Street Profits shirt.

Highlights from the TakeOver match between The Velveteen Dream and Tyler Breeze is shown. Tyler Breeze is backstage, and he says the match could have gone either way. He says he gained respect for Dream, and Dream gained respect for him. He says he is back in NXT and the landscape has changed, but he is not going anywhere.

A vignette for Damian Priest airs.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Mia Yim vs. Bianca Belair
Belair backs Yim into the corner and slams her to the mat. Yim comes back with a waist-lock take down and then applies a front face-lock. Yim rolls Belair up, but Belair kicks out at two. Yim takes Belair down with a couple arm drags and delivers a dropkick. Yim goes for the cover, but Belair kicks out at two. Yim delivers an elbow shot and a hurricanrana. Belair comes back with a face-buster and then a clothesline. Belair goes for the cover, but Yim kicks out at two. Belair locks in an abdominal stretch, but Yim counters with a hip toss. Belair comes back with a gut-buster and goes for the cover, but Yim kicks out at two. Belair applies a bow-and-arrow submission, but Yim counters into a quick cover for two.
Belair comes right back with a knee strike and then sits down onto Yim’s back a few times. Belair goes for a springboard, but Yim blocks it. Yim sends Belair into the ropes and rolls her up for a two count. Belair fights back, but Yim takes her down and goes for a cross arm-breaker. Belair rolls her up for two, but Yim comes back and locks in a guillotine submission. Belair slams her to the mat to break the hold. Yim tosses Belair to the floor, but Belair grabs her and wraps her around the ring post. Yim comes back and slams Belair into the ring post. Yim goes to the floor and sends Belair into the steps. Yim tosses Belair back into the ring and delivers a few kicks to the chest. Yim delivers a dropkick and then locks her in the Tarantula. Yim delivers Code Blue and goes for the cover, but Belair kicks out at two.
Yim kicks Belair in the face a few times, but Belair comes back with a belly-to-back suplex. Belair goes for the cover, but Yim kicks out at two. Belair goes for a power bomb, but Yim counters and locks in a guillotine submission. Belair fights out, but Yim connects wth a spinning back kick and a penalty kick. Belair comes back with an elbow show, but Yim kicks her in the face. Yim delivers a face-buster from the ropes and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Mia Yim

Footage of the match between Kushida and Drew Gulak from last week’s episode is shown. Gulak is shown outside the arena and he says he is the best submission specialist in WWE. Gulak challenges Kushida to a Submission Match and the match is made official for next week. Also next week, Burch and Lorcan will take on Fish and Roderick Strong.

Highlights from the TakeOver match between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano is shown.
