4/24/19 WWE NXT Recap: Ryker/Carrillo; Aliyah/Borne vs. LeRae/Catanzaro; Profits/Raiders; Gargano/Strong
The show opens with a preview of tonight’s main event: Johnny Gargano vs. Roderick Strong. The opening credits roll, and Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson welcome us to the show.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Jaxson Ryker (w/Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) vs. Humberto Carrillo
Ryker backs Carrillo into the corner and delivers a series of right hands. Carrillo comes back with a waist-lock, but Ryker takes him down. Carrillo comes back with a kick to the face and then a springboard roundhouse kick. Carrillo goes for the cover, but Ryker quickly kicks out. Carrillo takes Ryker down with a hurricanrana and then delivers a handspring elbow shot. Carrillo connects with a standing moonsault and goes for the cover, but Ryker powers out. Ryker fires up and tosses Carrillo across the ring. Ryker hangs Carrillo in the tree of woe and delivers clubbing shots to the chest. Ryker delivers the Widow Maker, but Carrillo rolls to the floor. Ryker tosses him into the barricade and delivers more right hands. Ryker backs Carrillo into the ring apron and then tosses him over the barricade. Ryker knees Carrillo in the face and the referee calls for the bell.
Match Result: Double Count-out
After the match, Ryker slams Carrillo into the barricade again, but Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan rush out to make the save.

Adam Cole is backstage for a photo shoot. He says he thought Gargano was man enough to face the leader of the Undisputed ERA, but Strong will beat Gargano to a pulp. Matt Riddle interrupts and says he has never seen anyone get as jealous as Cole has gotten. Cole gets in his face and Riddle tells him to do something about it. Cole says he has other stuff to do and walks away.
The Street Profits will take on War Raiders later tonight.

Match #2 – Tag Team Match: Vanessa Borne and Aliyah vs. Candice LeRae and Kacy Catanzaro
Aliyah and Catanzaro start the match. Aliyah drops Catanzaro and connects with a knee drop. Catanzaro sends Aliyah into the corner and connects with a corner clothesline. Catanzaro drops Aliyah with a hurricanrana and then a somersault ax kick. Borne provides a distraction and Aliyah takes advantage. Borne tags in and she and Aliyah slam Catanzaro to the mat. Borne goes for the cover, but Catanzaro kicks out at two. Borne takes Catanzaro to the corner and stomps her to the mat. Borne tosses Catanzaro across the ring and tags Aliyah back in. Aliyah chokes Catanzaro over the ropes and Borne splashes onto her. Aliyah goes for the cover, but Catanzaro kicks out at two. Aliyah applies a modified surfboard submission and then slams Catanzaro to the mat. Borne tags in and she and Aliyah go for a double suplex, but Catanzaro counters with a double suplex and tags in LeRae.
LeRae delivers a dropkick to Borne and sends Aliyah to the floor. LeRae delivers a jaw-breaker to Borne and then a snapmare suplex. LeRae connects with a step-up senton and then slams Borne to the mat. LeRae connects with a springboard moonsault and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Candice LeRae and Kacy Catanzaro

Footage of last week’s main event is shown. Shayna Baszler retained the NXT Women’s Championship over Kairi Sane by disqualification after interference from Io Shirai. Shirai is backstage. She says what Baszler did was terrible, but then she is attacked by Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir.

Footage of Kushida’s signing is shown. William Regal says he is excited to have Kushida in NXT and it took a lot of hard work to get him in NXT. Kassius Ohno walks in and Regal congratulates him on his success in NXT UK. Ohno congratulates Regal on signing Kushida and says he wants to face him. Regal says that will be an excellent match for Kushida’s debut.

Match #3 – Tag Team Match: The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs. War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe)
Ford takes down Raiders before the match starts with a suicide dive. Dawkins and Ford double team Rowe and Ford hits the frog splash. Ford goes for the cover, but Rowe kicks out at two. The Profits go for the electric chair, but Rowe ducks under and Hanson tags in. Hanson drops Dawkins with a side slam and then a cross-body. Hanson drops Ford with a clothesline and then takes Dawkins to the mat. Rowe tags in and slams Dawkins to the mat. Rowe slams Hanson onto Dawkins and sends Dawkins to the corner. Dawkins comes back with a right hand and Ford and Hanson tag in. Ford delivers a few shoulder tackles, but Hanson doesn’t fall. They exchange kicks to the face and then Ford delivers a dropkick that drops Hanson. Ford delivers a belly-to-back suplex and a standing moonsault. Ford sends Rowe to the floor and then Dawkins splashes Hanson in the corner.
Ford delivers a splash as well and then The Profits send Hanson to the mat. Ford goes for the cover, but Hanson kicks out at two. Hanson comes back and drops The Profits with a double back elbow and tags in Rowe. Rowe knees Dawkins in the face and tags in Hanson. Rowe dropkicks Ford into the corner and then slams Hanson into him. Hanson and Rowe drop Dawkins to the mat with a flying clothesline and then Rowe tags back in officially. Hanson and Rowe deliver Thor’s Hammer to Ford and Rowe gets the pin.
Winners: War Raiders

The Undisputed ERA are talking backstage, while Gargano is warming up. The main event is up next.

Mia Yim is backstage. She says Shayna Baszler is unstoppable, even if it’s not the way she would do things. She says she learned a lot about herself and Baszler in their match and she deserves another chance to stop Baszler and will prove that she is a threat.

Match #4 – Singles Match: Johnny Gargano vs. Roderick Strong
Strong drops Gargano to the mat and applies a front face-lock. Strong turns it into a side-headlock and then drops Gargano with a shoulder tackle. Gargano comes back with a roll-up and then goes for the Garga-No Escape, but Strong rolls through. Gargano applies a front face-lock on the mat, but Strong gets free and rolls to the floor. Strong gets back into the ring, but Gargano drops him with a dropkick and sends him to the floor. Gargano kicks Strong in the face and goes for a baseball slide dropkick, but Strong catches him and slams him onto the apron. Strong delivers an uppercut and tosses Gargano back into the ring. Strong delivers a few chops and then an elbow to Gargano’s neck. Strong delivers a gut-buster and goes for the cover, but Gargano quickly kicks out. Strong stomps away on Gargano, but Gargano begins to fight back.
Strong grounds Gargano with a clubbing shot and then delivers a back-breaker. Strong goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Strong delivers a chop in the corner and then wraps him in the ropes. Strong applies a modified Gory Special, but Gargano escapes and drops Strong with a few clotheslines. Gargano sends Strong to the floor, but Strong pulls him to the floor. Gargano sends Strong into the steps and then kicks him in the face back in the ring. Gargano delivers the slingshot spear and goes for the cover, but Strong kick out at two. Gargano goes for the Garga-No Escape, but Strong gets free. Gargano kicks Strong in the face and Strong goes to the floor. Gargano takes Strong out with a cannonball senton. Gargano tosses Strong back into the ring and takes him down with a hurricanrana. Gargano delivers a superkick and goes for the cover, but Strong kicks out at two.
Gargano delivers chops in the corner and goes for the slingshot spear again, but Strong catches him and delivers a back-breaker. Strong goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. They exchange kicks to the face and then Strong connects with a back elbow. Gargano comes back with a clothesline and goes for the superkick, but Strong counters and sends him to the corner. Strong connects with a knee strike and delivers a back-breaker. Strong goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Gargano comes back and locks in the Garga-No Escape, but Adam Cole rushes the ring. Gargano lets the hold go and Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly come out. Matt Riddle makes the save and Cole inadvertently kicks Strong. Gargano drops Strong with the slingshot DDT and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Johnny Gargano
After the match, Cole tries to apologize to Strong, but Strong leaves the ring. The other members of the ERA follow him out.
