Tommaso Ciampa Suffering From Neck Injury That Caused Raw Rewrite

Feb 28, 2019 - by Steve Gerweck

WWE had to rewrite Raw due to the fact that Tommaso Ciampa is suffering from a neck injury that has him unable to compete.

PWInsider reports that Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were originally set to be part of a four-way tag team match that would have included Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins, Aleister Black & Ricochet and another team. The Revival would have been at ringside for the match. Once it was clear that Ciampa couldn’t be cleared, the match was changed to The Revival vs. Black and Ricochet.

The injury is said to be one that has been lingering for at least four to five weeks and possibly more. Ciampa is not on the road this week and it’s not clear when he is going to be cleared. However, and Gargano are part of the Dusty Rhodes Classic and of course Ciampa is the NXT Champion, so his being out could have a big impact on NXT storylines.

The site says that all options are currently on the table, but that as of Monday he was not medically cleared.
