Cody Rhodes’ Recent Remarks May Indicate AEW’s TV Deal is Not Finalized
Wade Keller of PWTorch (via Les Moore) noted in the latest edition of his mailbag segment that Cody Rhodes’ recent interview with the Miami Herald could be a sign that AEW is struggling to finalize a traditional TV deal.
In the interview, Rhodes says TV is a wonderful medium but not as necessary today as it used to be.
“It’s all case by case,” he said. “In this era of disruption and brand building, TV is still a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful and powerful medium, but you don’t need anything necessarily anymore. What you need is hunger from the fans and you need athletes, men and women, who are willing to go out there, and go above and beyond, and provide a true alternative. So is it necessary? No. Is it a powerful thing? For sure.”
