1/29/19 WWE 205 Live Recap: Kalisto vs. Kanellis; Itami vs. Tozawa

205 Live opens with Drake Maverick running down the card for tonight: Kalisto vs. Mike Kanellis and Akira Tozawa vs. Hideo Itami. The opening credits roll, and then Aiden English, Nigel McGuinness, and Vic Joseph welcome us to the show.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Kalisto (w/Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado) vs. Mike Kanellis (w/Maria Kanellis)
Kanellis back Kalisto into the corner and delivers a few right hands. Kalisto comes back with a kick and a hurricanrana. Kalisto takes Kanellis down on the floor and then tosses him back into the ring. Kalisto connects with a springboard cross-body and goes for the cover, but Kanellis kicks out at one. Kalisto beats down Kanellis in the corner, but Kanellis comes back with a clothesline and sends Kalisto to the floor. Kanellis tosses Kalisto into the ring and drops him with another series of clotheslines. Kanellis sends Kalisto back to the floor and slams him into the barricade. Kanellis tosses Kalisto back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two. Kanellis applies a rear chin-lock, but Kalisto fights back. Kanellis slams him back down, but Kalisto kicks him in the face. Kalisto delivers an elbow show and then an enzuiguri.
Kalisto connects with a senton and then a kick to the face. Kalisto delivers a basement rana and goes for the cover, but Kanellis kicks out at two. Kalisto goes for the Solida Del Sol, but Kanellis blocks it. Kalisto sends Kanellis to the floor and goes for a suicide dive, but Kanellis sends him into the barricade. Kanellis rolls Kalisto back into the ring, but Kalisto catches him with a roll-up for two. Kalisto delivers a superkick and then a DDT and goes for the cover, but Kanellis kicks out again. Kanellis kicks Kalisto in the face, but Kalisto comes back with an enzuiguri. Kalisto delivers another and then goes for a Spanish Fly from the ropes. Kanellis counters into a side slam and goes for the cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two.
Kanellis delivers a few suplexes and then delivers a sit-out bomb. Kanellis goes for the cover, but Kalisto gets his foot on the rope at two. Kanellis stomps away on Kalisto, but Kalisto counters and catches him with a roll-up for the three count.
Winner: Kalisto

Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher cut a promo. They offer their assistance to 205 Live’s newest Superstar, Humberto Carrillo. They say they can help him reach his full potential and offer to be in his corner for his next match. They say the three of them together and make 205 Live better.

Ariya Daivari and Hideo Itami are backstage. Daivari says Buddy Murphy got lucky on Sunday and Itami will prove tonight that he is the most destructive force on 205 Live. Itami cuts a promo in Japanese, addressing Akira Tozawa.

We see footage of Noam Dar and Tony Nese brawling in the parking lot earlier today. They are separated by trainers and other Superstars. Kayla Braxton is backstage and she says Dar did not sustain any serious injuries and Nese is indefinitely suspended for starting the fight. Buddy Murphy walks up and says he doesn’t condone what Nese did, but he is happy about it. Murphy says he cemented his legacy as the greatest Cruiserweight of all-time at the Royal Rumble. He says he will knock all of the other Cruiserweights down, because they cannot stop the unstoppable.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Akira Tozawa (w/The Brian Kendrick) vs. Hideo Itami (w/Ariya Daivari)
Itami connects with a knee strike and then applies a side-headlock. Itami drops Tozawa with a shoulder tackle and then they each go for and dodge each others kicks. Tozawa finally delivers a dropkick and goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at one. Tozawa applies a seated abdominal stretch and then delivers a scoop slam. Tozawa connects with a senton and goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Itami comes back with forearm shots, but Tozawa delivers a few chops and then a right jab. Tozawa goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Tozawa drags Itami to the corner and goes up top, but Itami moves out of the way. Tozawa delivers a few kicks and then drops Itami to the mat again. Tozawa goes up top for the senton again, but Itami counters with knees to the back. Itami tosses Tozawa to the floor and Daivari goes towards him, but Kendrick backs Daivari away.
Itami tosses Tozawa back into the ring and stomps away on him. Itami kicks Tozawa in the chest and then puts his boots in his face in the corner. Tozawa comes back with a right hand, but Itami takes control back with a few kicks. Itami delivers a knee drop to the back of the neck and goes for the cover, but Tozawa kicks out at two. Itami stomps on Tozawa and kicks him in the back. Itami goes for the cover, but Tozawa kicks out at two. Itami applies a rear chin-lock down on the mat and goes for another cover, but Tozawa kicks out again. Itami delivers a few neck-breakers and goes for more covers, but Tozawa kicks out each time. Itami drops Tozawa with a knee to the midsection and gets another two count. Tozawa fights back an locks in the Iron Octopus submission, but Itami slams him down to the mat to break the hold.
Tozawa comes back with a Shining Wizard and goes up top. Tozawa delivers a dropkick that sends Itami to the floor and then connects on a suicide dive. Tozawa tosses Itami back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Itami comes back and drops Tozawa with a clothesline and gets a two count. Itami delivers palm strikes and then follows with a knee strike. Tozawa comes back with a boot to the face and then sends Itami face-first into the corner. Tozawa smashes into Itami and then goes up top. Daivari distracts him, but Kendrick gets involved as well. Itami knocks Tozawa down and then drops him with a clothesline. Itami goes for the cover, but Tozawa kicks out at two. Itami delivers the Falcon Arrow and goes for another cover, but Tozawa kicks out again. Tozawa comes back with an enzuiguri, but Daivari attacks Kendrick on the floor.
Itami knees Tozawa in the back and goes for a dropkick, but Tozawa dodges and Itami kicks Daivari. Tozawa drops Itami with a German suplex and then goes up top. Tozawa connects with the top rope senton and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Akira Tozawa

After the match, Daivari helps Itami to his feet but quickly drops him with a clothesline. Daivari leaves Itami lying and leaves the ring as the show comes to a close.
