NEW WOS WOMEN’S CHAMPION CROWNED ON FIRST NIGHT OF UK TOUR

Viper captured the WOS Women’s Championship on a fantastic opening night of the historic WOS Wrestling UK tour.

The Scottish star defeated champion Kay Lee Ray and Bea Priestley in a three-way match at Southampton Guildhall – kicking off the six-date tour in sensational fashion by pinning her close rival Kay Lee after the Viper Driver.

Afterwards Viper gave the deposed champion another Viper Driver before her assault was halted by Priestley and referees. Kay Lee had to be helped from the ringside area.

Viper’s stunning victory was just one of a series of thrilling matches held in front of a packed and noisy Southampton crowd on Friday night as the ITV wrestling brand began its first ever live tour.

Adam ‘Flex’ Maxted earned himself a future WOS Championship match by defeating his nemesis ‘The Professional’ Nathan Cruz in a storming ladder match.

Meanwhile the main event of WOS Champion ‘Superhuman’ Justin Sysum and Robbie X vs Alpha Bad ended in drama as Sysum – with a little help from Will Ospreay, Joe Hendry and BT Gunn – rebounded from interference by Rampage, Sha Samuels and CJ Banks to score the victory for his team.

Sysum will now defend the WOS Championship against Rampage in Newport tonight.

Rampage, who Sysum beat for the championship in the season finale of last summer’s WOS Wrestling television series on ITV, had earlier beaten Ospreay on the Southampton show in another rip-roaring bout.

In other results from Southampton, Joe Hendry and BT Gunn defeated Sha Samuels and CJ Banks, ‘The Monster’ Crater pinned Gabriel Kidd and Grado pinned Martin Kirby.

SoCal Val was also unveiled as acting WOS Executive for the night’s events.

The WOS Wrestling UK tour continues tonight at the Newport Centre before moving on to Victoria Hall in Stoke (January 25), Blackpool Tower Ballroom (January 26), Royal & Derngate Theatre Northampton (February 2) and York Hall, Bethnal Green, London (February 3).

Doors 6.30pm, show starts 7.30pm for all dates.
