12/12/18 WWE 205 Live Recap: Metalik vs. Murphy; Alexander vs. Nese

Drake Maverick runs down the card for tonight: Buddy Murphy vs. Gran Metalik and Cedric Alexander vs. Tony Nese. The opening credits roll, and then Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson, and Vic Joseph welcome us to the show.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Buddy Murphy vs. Gran Metalik
Murphy goes behind for a waist-lock and then turn it into an arm-wrench and drops Metalik to the mat. Metalik gets free and backs Murphy into the corner and then takes him down with a hurricanrana. Murphy goes to the floor, but Metalik takes him out with a suicide dive. Metalik takes Murphy down with a hurricanrana from the barricade and then tosses Murphy back into the ring. Metalik goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at two. Murphy comes back and slams Metalik into the turnbuckle and then goes for a suplex, but Metalik kicks him in the face. Metalik comes off the ropes, but Murphy catches him and suplexes him to the mat. Murphy goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two. Murphy sends Metalik to the floor, but Metalik gets back into the ring at eight. Murphy stomps Metalik into the mat and delivers a right hand for good measure. Murphy goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two.
Murphy delivers a series of elbows and goes for another cover, but Metalik kicks out again. Murphy applies a face-lock down on the mat, but Metalik backs him into the corner. Murphy comes back with a kick to the face and tosses Metalik to the apron. Metalik comes back with an enzuiguri and connects with a springboard cross-body. Metalik goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at two. Metalik connects with a springboard back elbow and then a missile dropkick. Metalik goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at two. Metalik sets up for the Metalik Driver, but Murphy gets free and delivers a few kicks. Metalik dodges the last one and connects with a superkick. Metalik goes for the Metalik Driver again, but Murphy counters with a knee strike. Murphy runs the ropes, but Metalik catches him and delivers the Metalik Driver. Metalik goes for the cover, but Murphy kicks out at two.
Metalik goes up top, but Murphy rolls to the apron. Metalik kicks him to the floor and follows, but Murphy slams him into the announce table. Murphy slams Metalik onto the ring apron and then rolls him back into the ring. Murphy delivers a double knee strike from the top and goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two. Murphy picks Metalik up, but Metalik counters with a roll-up for two. Metalik kicks Murphy in the face and then goes for a moonsault, but Murphy gets his boot up. Murphy delivers a power bomb and goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two. Murphy delivers a knee strike and goes for Murphy’s Law, but Metalik counters with a roll up for two. Metalik comes off the ropes, but Murphy catches him and connects with Murphy’s Law and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Buddy Murphy

We take a look back to last week’s episode and see the beat down of Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick at the hands of Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher. We see Kendrick and Tozawa in Maverick’s office. Maverick says Kendrick and Tozawa will take on Gulak and Gallagher in a Tag Team Street Fight. Kendrick says he is a changed man and he didn’t manipulate anyone more than his new partner, Tozawa. Kendrick says he is a changed man and he will prove it in the street fight. Tozawa says Kendrick is a changed man, but he looks the same. Tozawa says he has an idea and pulls Kendrick away.

We then see a promo from Gulak and Gallagher. Gallagher says a street fight is the perfect way to end Kendrick’s career. Gulak says Kendrick has been fired twice and this isn’t for him anymore. Gulak says they will take this as far as they want and anything will be legal next week. Gulak says Kendrick will tap out for the final time next week.

We see that Lio Rush will return to 205 Live next week for the first time since his loss to Cedric Alexander a few weeks ago.

We take a look back to Ariya Daivari’s in-ring return to 205 Live last week, in which he defeated a local competitor via referee stoppage. We then see Daivari backstage for an interview. Daivari says wrestling used to be simple, but now everyone only cares about dressing up and re-tweeting compliments. Daivari says he sees a lot of flash and no fight in 205 Live, but he is here to change that. Hideo Itami walks up. Itami says he say Daivari’s match last week and tells him good job. They shake hands and Itami walks away. Daivari says Itami is one of the last true men around here, and someone that deserves respect.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Cedric Alexander vs. Tony Nese
They lock up and Nese applies a wrist-lock. Alexander is able to get free, but Nese catches him with a back elbow. Alexander gets fee and takes Nese down with a dropkick. Alexander goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two. Alexander chops Nese in the corner, but Nese comes back and goes for a back-slide. Alexander holds onto the ropes and then sends Nese to the floor. Alexander goes for a suicide dive, but Nese rolls back into the ring. Alexander goes to the top, but Nese catches him with a pal strike. Nese goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out at two. Alexander comes back with a kick to the face, but Nese delivers an uppercut. Nese drapes Alexander over the top rope and then connects with a springboard moonsault. Nese goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out at two. Nese keeps Alexander grounded and applies a body-scissors submission.
Alexander gets free and sends Nese off the ropes, but Nese comes back with a hart shot and drops Alexander to the mat. Nese goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out at two. Nese applies a rear chin-lock and then tosses Alexander to the apron. Alexander comes back with a boot to the face and then delivers the Flatliner. Alexander sends Nese into the turnbuckle and then kicks him in the face. Alexander delivers a springboard clothesline and goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two. Nese comes back with a few kicks, but Alexander keeps the advantage and drops Nese to the mat again. Alexander goes for another cover, but Nese kicks out again. Alexander sets up for the Lumbar Check, but Nese holds onto the ropes. Nese turns it into a gut-buster and goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out at two.
Nese drops Alexander with an elbow strike and a clothesline and goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out again. Alexander and Nese exchange shots and then Alexander goes for the Neuralizer, but Nese catches him and drops him with a Samoan Drop. Nese sends Alexander to the floor and then connects with a suicide dive. Nese tosses Alexander back into the ring and goes for the 450 Splash, but Alexander moves out of the way. Alexander comes back with a Mickinoku Driver and goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two. Alexander delivers a Neuralizer and then hits the Lumbar Check and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Cedric Alexander
-After the match, Murphy comes to the stage. He and Alexander stare down and then Murphy rushes the ring. Alexander gets the advantage and takes Murphy down and sends Murphy back up the ramp. They stare down again as the show comes to a close.
