Stephanie: “there’s no reason we can’t be as big or bigger than Disney”

Nov 8, 2018 - by Steve Gerweck

Stephanie McMahon was recently in Lisbon for a Web Summit where she spoke to CNBC’s Elizabeth Schulze. She revealed her idea for WWE’s growth in the future and she has some very big goals because she’s going right after Mickey Mouse in terms of how big she wants WWE to become.

“10-20-30 years from now, there’s no reason we can’t be as big or bigger than Disney. Now that’s a tall order, especially given recent transactions. However, there’s no reason why we can’t get there. You have to dream big, have big, bold goals, and go after them.”

Currently, WWE’s market cap is $5.8 billion compared to Disney’s $172.7 billion

    Thanks for the laugh Steph! I was having a bad day and really needed it!

  2. There’s one major reason, the terrible booking and creative of WWE that ruins tons of talented wrestlers every single week.

    @Kyle Christie–Just ONE?!?!?!

    But the more I think of it, WWELand would have some pretty unique rides that already have catch phrases that can be played after the ride;
    The Tombstone–“Rest In Peace”
    The Stunner–“Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass”
    The Clothesline from Hell–“Damn!”
    The grown-up men who don’t like rides can wait in The Bra and Panties Lounge or The Puppies Pub.

  4. @art123guy – One of many haha and I love your ride ideas. 😛

    As big as Disney? Unless they start buying companies and putting them under the WWE umbrella they’re not even going to get close to what Disney makes. Disney owns ESPN, Lucas films, Marvel Entertainment, and a mess of other companies. Outside of wrestling and some weird football thing, I think the WWE owns WWE Studios.
