Rumored Reason why Shane McMahon was booked to win the World Cup
WWE hyped the tournament for weeks only to have Shane McMahon step in as The Miz’ replacement.
The Miz is not hurt and the way things went down is how WWE creative planned it. McMahon is going to be a heel and apparently, he will be calling himself the “best in the world” on WWE TV. There were subtle signs of a heel turn on Tuesday when he told wrestlers in a backstage segment that they would be fired if they lost the World Cup finals.
“The idea is that Shane is going heel,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “Miz wasn’t hurt. This was all booked to be exactly what it is – the beginning of a Shane McMahon heel turn.”
He added, “When this tournament was first put together, this was always the finish. It was always going to be the finish that Shane was going to turn heel when this thing ends.”
Presumably, this heel turn will play into the Raw vs. Smackdown storyline leading into Survivor Series
