4/25/18 WWE NXT Recap: Cole vs. Lorcan; Heavy Machinery vs. Sabbatelli/Moss; Black vs. Young Main Event

The opening credits roll and then Mauro Ranallo and Percy Watson welcome us to the show. We see that Aleister Black will defend the NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano in the main event, and then The Undisputed ERA’s music hits. Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Bobby Fish make their way to the ring.

Cole says he wants all of them to relish in the moment. He says look at all of their gold and says this is what happened when you back The Undisputed ERA into a corner. Fish says it is no secret that they have been thrown to the wolves since they arrived, but they always remain one step ahead. Strong says he knows everyone wants to know “Why, Roddy, why?” and he says, for once, he did something for himself and made the best decision of his career. He says he could have won the titles with Pete Dunne, but says Dunne would have turned on him eventually. He says the ERA won’t turn their back on him because they all take bullets for each other. He says why would he keep fighting alone when they can fight together and takeover NXT. O’Reilly says they are done being backed into corners and it doesn’t matter what the powers try to do because they cannot be stopped. He says times are changing and they are leaving everyone else in the dust. Cole says he will defend his NXT North American Championship against Oney Lorcan right now and he is going to do it on his own. He says he won the title on his own and he will defend it on his own. He tells O’Reilly, Fish, and Strong to go to the back and says they are now here to officially shock the system.

Match #1 – NXT North American Championship Match – Adam Cole (c) vs. Oney Lorcan
They tie up and Lorcan goes behind for a waist-lock. Cole makes it to the ropes to break the hold and then drops Lorcan with a shoulder block. Lorcan comes back with an abdominal stretch, but Cole makes it to the ropes and then rolls to the floor. Lorcan drives a shoulder into Cole’s midsection, but Cole comes back with an kick to the back of the head. Cole stomps Lorcan down in the corner and then kicks him in the face. Cole delivers a series of right hands down on the mat and then applies a face-lock. Cole delivers the neck-breaker over his knee, but Lorcan starts fighting back. Lorcan delivers a few chops and then a knee to the midsection. Lorcan delivers a basement uppercut and then a blockbuster. Lorcan goes for the cover, but Cole kicks out at two.
Cole comes back with a boot to the face, but Lorcan counters and drapes Cole over the top rope and Cole falls to the floor. O’Reilly runs to ringside and brings a trainer with him. The trainer looks at Cole and Strong pulls Lorcan out of the ring. Strong drops Lorcan with a suplex on the apron and then he and O’Reilly toss Cole back into the ring. Cole delivers the Last Shot and gets the pin fall.
Winner and still NXT North American Champion: Adam Cole.
After the match, Strong and O’Reilly attack Lorcan. Danny Burch rushes the ring and delivers headbutts to O’Reilly and Strong, but Cole drops him with a superkick. O’Reilly and Strong take out Lorcan and Burch one more time for good measure.

We see a video hype package for the NXT Women’s Champion, Shayna Baszler, as we head to a break.

Back from the break, we see footage from last week’s main event in which Candice LeRae defeated Zelina Vega. We see that LeRae will go one-on-one with Bianca Belair on next week’s show and then we see a video hype package for Belair.

Match #2 – Tag Team Match: Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic) vs. Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss
Knight and Moss start the match with a lock up. Knight applies a headlock, but Moss sends him off the ropes. Knight delivers a shoulder block and Dozovic and Sabbatelli get into the ring. Machinery drop Sabbatelli and Moss with shoulder tackles and then Sabbatelli gets sent to the floor. Knight drops Moss with a back body drop and tags in Dozovic. Knight and Dozovic slam Sabbatelli and Moss into each other and then stand on top of them. Dozovic delivers forearm shots and then delivers right hands. Sabbatelli gets involved and Moss slams Dozovic to the mat. Moss delivers a series of right hands and tags in Sabbatelli.
Sabbatelli defeated a forearm in the corner and goes for the cover, but Dozovic kicks out at two. Dozovic comes back and takes control of Moss and Sababtelli and tags in Knight. Moss is legal, too, and Knight delivers a standing dropkick and a short-arm clothesline. Moss comes back with a big boot and goes to tag Sabbatelli, but Sabbatelli drops off the apron and backs up the ramp. Knight smashes Moss int he corner and tags in Dozovic. Dozovic and Knight hit the Compactor and Dozovic gets the pin fall.
Winners: Heavy Machinery.
After the match, Knight gets on the mic and calls out the War Raiders. He wonders if Hanson and Rowe are man enough to get into the ring with them, and Dozovic says they are coming for war.

We see a video hype package of various women calling out Shayna Baszler, including Nikki Cross, Aliyah, and Kairi Sane. We then see an interview with Dakota Kai. Kai says she doesn’t want to talk about the incident with Shayna Baszler from last week and is shaken up about it. Baszler walks up and tells Kai to look at her. Baszler says Kai left her home to chase her dreams and asks her how it feels to know that the Women’s Division run by her is Kai’s worst nightmare.

We see that the main event between Aleister Black and Johnny Gargano is up next.

We see a video hype package for “The Finest” Kona Reeves, who returns to NXT next week.

We see a video hype package for Lacey Evans, Vanessa Borne, and Candice LeRae, who all talk about their aspirations of beating Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship. We then see that TM-61 will take on The Street Profits on next week’s show. We also see that Pete Dunne will go one-on-one with Roderick Strong next week.

Johnny Gargano’s music hits and he comes to the stage, but he is attacked from behind by Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa beats Gargano down and them slams him into the announce table. Ciampa tells Gargano that he is never going to get rid of him. Gargano fights back and delivers a superkick to Ciampa. Gargano takes Ciampa down with a diving clothesline and beats him down on the floor. Gargano slams Ciampa into the ramp, but Ciampa delivers a low-blow. Ciampa shoves Gargano to the stage and then delivers a running knee and Gargano’s head slams against one of the LED boards. Ciampa grabs Gargano and delivers and running power slam through a couple tables that were set up by the stage.
Referees, EMTs, and Candice LeRae rush out and the EMTs load Gargano into a stretcher. They wheel him outside and Aleister Black walks by and just looks at him. They load Gargano in the back of an ambulance and pull away. We see Ciampa on top of the production truck trailer waving as the ambulance pulls away.
Back in the arena, Black comes to the ring. He gets a microphone and gets into the ring. He calls out Ciampa, but SAnitY’s music hits and Eric Young, Killian Dain, and Alexander Wolfe come to the ring. Young says Gargano provided hope, but chaos took away that hope tonight. Young says out of the chaos, we will find greatness and sanity. Black interrupts and asks Young if he is look for “this” and holds up the NXT Championship and says “let’s do this.” Young takes off his jacket and the bell rings.

NXT Championship Match: Aleister Black vs. Eric Young (w/Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain)
Black takes Young down to the mat, but Young gets to his feet and gets to the ropes. Young delivers a back elbow and then applies a headlock down on the mat. Black counters with a roll-up, but Young kicks out at one. Young comes back with a back elbow and then delivers an elbow drop and a clubbing shot to the neck. Young goes for the cover, but Black kicks out at two. Black comes back with a knee to the midsection and Young rolls to the floor. Black springboards and sits in the ring as Young watches from the ramp.
Young gets back into the ring, but Black takes him down with an arm-drag. Young comes back with a right hand, but Black delivers a few knee strikes and then takes Young down with a spinning back fist. Wolfe gets into the ring, but Black catches him with a back elbow. Young chokes Black and then connects with an elbow drop from the top. Young goes for the cover, but Black kicks out at two. Young delivers a series of clubbing shots and goes for the cover again, but Black kicks out at two. Young delivers a neck-breaker and goes for another cover, but Black kicks out again.
Young applies a neck-wrench and then delivers a back-body drop. Young goes for the cover, but Black kicks out at two. Young applies a rear chin-lock, but Black comes back and takes Young down with a spinning back fist and both men are down. Black delivers a series of right hands and then kicks Young in the hamstring. Black takes Young down with a series of kicks and a knee strike to the side of the head. Black splashes Young in the corner and then the springboard moonsault. Black goes for the cover, but Young kicks out at two. Young comes back and slams Black into the corner and charges, but Black moves and then applies a modified octopus submission. Young counters and delivers a Death Valley bomb and goes for the cover, but Black kicks out at two.
Young goes up top, but Black cuts him off. Black climbs as well, but Young delivers a shoulder to the midsection. Young gets back into the ring, but Black connects with Black Mass out of nowhere and gets the pin fall.
Winner and still NXT Champion: Aleister Black.
After the match, Black delivers Black Mass to Dain and Wolfe as well and stands tall over SAnitY as NXT comes to a close.
