1/23/18 WWE 205 Live Recap: Six-Man Tag; Itami vs. Gallagher; Alexander vs. Ali

205 Live opens with Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan. Bryan says Enzo Amore will no longer be affiliated with 205 Live. He says next week, a 205 Live General Manager will be named, and his or her’s first action will be to address the situation with the vacant WWE Cruiserweight Championship and then steer 205 Live in the right direction.

We see that Cedric Alexander will go one-on-one with Mustafa Ali later tonight, as well as Hideo Itami going one-on-one with Gentleman Jack Gallagher.

Match #1 – Six-Man Tag Team Match Match: Kalisto, Gran Metalik, and Lince Dorado vs. TJP, Ariya Daivari, and Tony Nese
TJP and Dorado start the match. Dorado applies a headlock, but TJP gets free and takes him down to the mat. Dorado comes back and takes TJP down, but TJP counters right back and takes Doraco down with a head-scissors take down. Dorado turns it into a head scissors hold and then keeps TJP grounded with an arm-drag and then a kick to the face. Dorado connects with a standing moonsault and goes for the cover, but TJP kicks out at two. Nese tags in and Dorado drops him with a dropkick and tags in Metalik. Metalik runs the ropes and takes Nese down with a springboard arm-drag. Metalik runs the ropes again, but Nese drops him with a back elbow. Daivari tags in and stomps away on Metalik. Daivari slams Metalik into the turnbuckle and goes for the cover, but Metalik kicks out at two.
Metalik comes back and runs the ropes, and then drops Daivari with a dropkick. Metalik goes for the cover, but Daivari kicks out at two. Kalisto tags in and takes Daivari down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Daivari kicks out at one. Daivari takes advantage and sends Kalisto to the apron, but Kalisto counters with a kick to the head and then delivers a roundhouse kick as well. Nese provides a distraction and Daivari knocks Kalisto to the floor. Daivari slams Kalisto into the ring apron and then back into the ring. Daivari goes for the cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two.
TJP tags back in and stomps down onto Kalisto. TJP chokes Kalisto with his boot in the corner and then delivers a suplex and then a side suplex. TJP goes for the cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two. Kalisto counters with a roll up for a two count, but TJP comes back and slams Kalisto back down. TJP goes for a cover, but Kalisto kicks out at two. Nese tags back in and keeps Kalisto grounded to the mat as Daivari tags in as well. Kalisto fights back, but Daivari slams him to the mat again. Daivari knocks Metalik to the floor and Kalisto meets him with a back elbow. Kalisto kicks Daivari in the face twice. Dorado and TJP tag in and Dorado knocks Nese to the floor. Dorado takes TJP down with a springboard cross-body and then goes up top. Dorado connects with a moonsault and goes for the cover, but Nese and Daivari break it up. Kalisto and Metalik take Nese and Daivari out with dropkicks and suicide dives on the floor.
Dorado goes back up and he goes for the 450 splash, but TJP moves out of the way. TJP goes for the Detonation Kick, but Dorado shoves him into Nese and TJP yells at Nese. Dorado connects with an elbow shot and gets the pin fall on TJP.
Winners: Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik, and Kalisto.
After the match, Nese and Daivari get into the ring and yell at TJP that he lost the match after he yells at them for not helping him out.

We see Drew Gulak in a prerecorded segment. He says he still stands for a better 205 Live. He says you will find authority as one of his strong points and he says 205 Live needs a General Manager that will get rid of the high flying and the chanting that has ruined the show. He says the General Manager should turn 205 Live into a Drewtopia.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs. Hideo Itami
Itami drops Gallagher with a hip toss and then kicks Gallagher in the back. Gallagher comes back with a kick to the knee and then applies a side headlock. Itami tries to get free, but Gallagher keeps the hold applied. Itami backs Gallagher into the corner, but Gallagher headstands in the corner. Gallagher comes back down, but Itami meets him with a kick to the chest. Itami charges at Gallagher in the corner, but Gallagher counters and slams Itami into the turnbuckle. Itami comes back and drapes Gallagher over the middle rope and then delivers a leg drop. Gallagher rolls to the floor and crawls under the ring. Gallagehr sneaks back into the ring and slams Itami into the corner and beats him down.
Gallagher wrenches Itami’s arm and works on some joint manipulation. Gallagher continues to work over Itami with a hammer-lock submission down on the mat. Gallagher turns it into a cover, but Itami kicks out at two. Gallagher goes back to work on Itami’s arm and applies a wrist-lock this time. Gallagher drives an elbow into Itami’s shoulder and then goes back to the wrist-lock. Itami fights back and drops Gallagher with a release fisherman’s suplex. Itami delivers a knee to gallagher and goes up top and delivers a clothesline. Itami goes for the cover, but Gallagher kicks out at two. Gallagher tries to shove Itami into the referee, but Itami stops and Gallagher rolls him up. Itami kicks out at two and sends Gallagher into the corner. Itami hits the hesitation dropkick and then hits a modified version of the GTS and gets the pin.
Winner: Hideo Itami.

We see Akira Tozawa backstage. He says they need a new boss and he would make a good boss. He fires some random guy who was standing backstage.

Match #3 – Singles Match: Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali
They shake hands before the match and exchange waist-locks. Ali backs Alexander into the corner and then they lock up. Alexander backs Ali into the corner this time and they have another clean break. Ali applies a wrist-lock, but Alexander turns it into one of his own. Ali sends him off and runs the ropes and takes Alexander down with a head-scissors, but Alexander lands on his feet. Alexander backs Ali into the ropes and Ali shoves him away. They lock up again and the breaks aren’t so clean now. Alexander trips Ali up and runs the ropes. Ali catches him, but Alexander counters and delivers a dropkick. Alexander goes for the cover, but Ali kicks out at one.
Alexander applies an arm-bar submission down on the mat, but Ali fights to his feet. Alexander sends him back down and keeps the arm-bar applied. Ali gets up again and drops Alexander with a dropkick. Ali applies an arm-bar of his own down on the mat. Alexander gets to his feet and runs the ropes, but Ali catches him with a right hand. Alexander backs Ali into the ropes and Ali gets on the apron, but Alexander delivers a right hand that sends Ali down to the floor. Alexander goes to the floor and tosses Ali back into the ring. Alexander goes for the cover, but Ali kicks out at two. Alexander applies a submission down on the mat, but Ali fights to his feet. Alexander backs Ali into the corner and delivers an elbow shot and then follows it up with a couple chops. Alexander slams Ali into the opposite corner and charges, but Ali moves and Alexander crashes into the corner. Ali comes back and chops Alexander in the corner and then kicks him in the face. Ali delivers a face-buster and goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out at two.
Alexander shoves Ali away and charges, but Ali meets him with an elbow shot. Ali goes for a tornado DDT, but Alexander catches him. Ali gets free and shoves Alexander to the corner. Alexander moves and Ali hits the turnbuckle. Alexander kicks Ali in the face and drops Ali with a springboard flatliner. Alexander goes for the cover, but Ali kicks out at two. Ali comes back with a slap and Alexander comes back with a slap of his own. They are at fisticuffs and Alexander gets the upper hand. Ali comes back with a spinning heel kick and comes off the ropes, but Alexander takes him down with a Spanish Fly and both men are down.
Alexander goes for the Lumbar Check, but Ali counters. Ali drops Alexander with a tornado DDT and goes for the cover, but Alexander kicks out at two. Ali drags Alexander to the corner and goes for the 0-5-4, but Alexander moves out of the way. Alexander connects with the Nueralizer and hits the Lumbar Check for the pin fall.
Winner: Cedric Alexander.
After the match, Alexander helps Ali to his feet and they share a moment of respect as 205 Live comes to a close.
