12/27/17 WWE NXT Recap: Street Profits in Action; Moon vs. Deville for the Women’s Title; Fatal 4-Way Main Event

NXT opens with its opening video and then we go into the arena where Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, and Percy Watson welcome us to the show. We are reminded of tonight’s main event: a Fatal-Four Way Match featuring Aleister Black, Killian Dain, Johnny Gargano, and Lars Sullivan, with the winner advancing to NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia to challenge Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Championship.

Match #1 – The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs. Chris Starr and Riley Apex
Ford starts the match with one of the guys and they lock up. Ford applies a side-headlock and then drops the guy with a slam to the mat. Dawkins tags in and tosses Ford down onto the guy. He tags in his partner, but Dawkins drops him with a lariat. Dawkins then drops the other guy with a right hand. Dawkins delivers a spinning Stinger Splash and then a pop-up spine-buster. Ford tags in and delivers the frog splash and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Street Profits.
After the match, the Profits join the NXT Universe. Ford says in 2017, they came and saw. Dawkins says in 2018, they will conquer. They run down the other teams in NXT, such as The Authors of Pain, SAnitY, and The Undisputed ERA. Dawkins says in 2018, they are coming for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

We are reminded once again of tonight’s Fatal Four-Way main event. but coming up next Ember Moon will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Sonya Deville.

Match #2 – NXT Women’s Championship Match: Ember Moon (c) vs. Sonya Deville
Deville goes for a waist lock and takes Moon down. Moon gets up and switches to a waist lock of her own. Deville rolls through and goes for the ankle lock, but Moon escapes quickly. They lock up again and Moon applies a side headlock. Deville shoves Moon away, but Moon takes her down with an arm drag. Moon nips up as Deville looks on. Deville goes for a kick, but Moon dodges. Deville takes Moon down with a leg sweep, but Moon gets to her feet and we have a stalemate. Deville kicks Moon in the midsection, but Moon comes back with a single leg dropkick. Deville rolls to the floor and Moon takes her down with a cannonball senton as we head to a break.
We’re back and Deville is control of the match back in the ring. Deville applies a waist lock down on the mat, but Moon fights to her feet. Deville slams Moon back down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Moon kicks out at two. Deville delivers a right hand to the side of Moon’s head, followed by another hard right. Deville goes back to the waist lock down on the mat. Moon fights back and sends Deville face-first into the bottom turnbuckle. Moon takes Deville down with a suplex and follows it up with a clothesline and a series of kicks and a right hand strike. Moon goes for the cover, but Deville kicks out at two. Moon charges, but Deville counters with a kick to the midsection. Deville slams Moon down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Moon kicks out at two.
Moon comes back and takes Deville down with a springboard dropkick. Moon delivers a forearm in the corner and then goes up top. Moon delivers the Eclipse and gets the pin fall.
Winner and still NXT Women’s Champion: Ember Moon.
After the match, Kairi Sane’s music hits and the Pirate Princess comes to the stage and charts her course toward Ember Moon. Shayne Baszler comes out and attacks Sane from behind. Baszler locks in a rear naked choke and chokes Sane out on the stage. Baszler then turns her attention toward Moon before walking backstage.

We see Paul Ellering and The Authors of Pain backstage. Ellering says AOP have made history in NXT since they have been in it. Ellering says at WarGames, another team thought they had a pen of creativity, but The Undisputed ERA won’t write the next chapter. Ellering says the AOP will continue to write history and the Undisputed ERA is on borrowed time.

We see Kristy St. Cloud interviewing Ember Moon backstage. Moon says she knew when she became the champion, she would have a target on her back. She says it doesn’t matter who it is, if they want a shot, she is not hard to find. She says if they want to make a statement, however, they need to step into the ring.

We are reminded once more of tonight’s Fatal-Four Way main event. We then take a look at how all four men qualified for tonight’s match.

We see that next week’s NXT will be a two-hour Year in Review episode. In two weeks, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly will defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against SAnitY.

Match #3 – #1 Contender’s (NXT Championship) Fatal Four-Way Match: Killian Dain vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Lars Sullivan vs. Aleister Black
Black and Dain go at it, as do Sullivan and Gargano. Sullivan tosses Gargano across the ring and then Black tosses Sullivan to the floor. Black sends Dain to the corner and the springboards and has a seat in the middle of the ring. Black goes for a moonsault on the outside, but Sullivan catches him and slams him into the ring apron. Gargano goes for a suicide dive, but Sullivan catches him and slams him into the apron as well. Finally, Dain connects with a suicide dive that takes Sullivan down to the floor as we head to a break.
Back from the break, Dain connects with an avalanche splash in the corner on Gargano. Dain goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Sullivan pulls Dain to the outside and slams him into the apron. Sullivan splashes Gargano in the corner and goes for a cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Sullivan goes back to the outside and slams Dain into the steel steps. Black connects with kicks to Sullivan, but Sullivan slams him into the barricade. Gargano goes after Sullivan, but Sullivan counters and slams Gargano down onto Black. Sullivan takes apart the announce table and goes to power bomb Gargano through it, but Gargano grabs into the railing and gets free. Black delivers a knee to Sullivan and Sullivan falls onto the announce table. Dain rushes from the entrance ramp and splashes Sullivan through the table.
Black and Gargano get back into the ring and Gargano connects with a forearm. Gargano knees Black in the face and goes for the slingshot spear. Black counters with a knee strike and goes for the cover, but Gargano kicks out at two. Gargano backs Black into the corner and delivers a chop. Black comes back with double knees, but Gargano kicks Black in the face. Gargano locks in the Gargano Escape, but Dain comes back and delivers a senton to Gargano and Black. Dain slams Black down and delivers another senton. Dain goes for the cover, but Gargano breaks it up at two. Dain power bombs Gargano and drops an elbow. Dain goes for the cover, but Black breaks it up at two. Dain sets Black up top and delivers a forearm shot. Dain climbs as well, but Black fights back. Black and Gargano grab Dain and power bomb him down to the mat.
Dain, Gargano, and Black are down in the ring as Sullivan gets to his feet and gets back on the entrance ramp. Sullivan goes back to the ring and drops Black and Gargano with shoulder blocks and clotheslines. Sullivan tosses Black to the floor and then slams Gargano to the mat. Sullivan goes for the cover, but Dain kicks out at two. Sullivan tosses Gargano to the floor and then gets eye-to-eye with Dain. They exchange right forearms and Sullivan drops Dain with a huge clothesline. Sullivan tosses Dain into the corner, but Dain comes back with a clothesline of his own. They both go for clotheslines and neither budges. Black gets back into the ring and kicks both men and then drops Dain with knee strikes. Black takes Sullivan down with a hurricanrana and kicks Dain in the face again. Black connects with Black Mass on Sullivan, but Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly pull him out of the ring. Adam Cole rushes out and drops Black with a spike DDT on the floor.
Gargano launches through the ring and takes Cole out with a suicide dive. Gargano grabs Black and tosses him into the ring. Garagno sends Sullivan into the steps and Dain decks Gargano with a right hand. Garagno sends Dain into Sullivan and the steps with a hurricanrana. Gargano drops Black with the slingshot DDT and gets the pin fall.
Winner and number one contender for the NXT Championship: Johnny Gargano.
